Todd, I received the 16mm-80 f/4 with my X-T4, and this was my first camera coming from film; although I have used inferior, digital cameras, and iPhones. As usual, when you get a new toy, I spent a fair amount of time with it, but was seemingly unhappy with the images compared to shooting Panatomic-X with, my Minolta XD-5. When I would do blowups, which were analogous to my enlargements to 16 x 20 with the Panatomic-X, as my memory served me the digital seemed not nearly as sharp. As a result, I literally put aside my X-T4 and just ended up using my iPhone and iPad for most of my day-to-day photo shooting; as I’m not a professional nor we’re on any vacations, etc. Here lately, I was working on a vintage vacuum tube radio, and I found a need to both push ISO and control focus to document both component and connection locations deep within the chassis of this radio. I have to replace so many components that I wanted to make sure that I didn’t miss wire or something later when installing the new ones. So, I decided to pull out my X-T4 And took the shots that I needed. I then took some other general shots, and decided that it’s really actually much better than I had originally concluded. The other thing I think I was doing wrong before, was expanding the shots way beyond even the 16 x 20 that I would’ve done with film. I have been contemplating trying to get some prime lenses, but now will be extremely cautious and that I feel I underrated this lens severely. So, I’m going to do some serious analysis and see if I can get a firm basis for making comparisons between digital and film. Other than that, I really do like this lens. I was able to rack it out to 80 mm and be able to still come up with The depth of field I needed. The other thing that I did was push the iso to almost +2 in order to illuminate darker recesses of this radio chassis. Also coming from ASA 32, F4 with a digital sensor is a piece of cake! 🎂 I do have a Bokeh rant as you did mention that. I agree it is so overrated and overused! Maybe you should do a video on this as I would love to comment as I think I have some very solid reasons against Bokeh for most cases. Anyway, great video and I am SUBSCRIBED!!! 😊

Thank you very much. I have started a "bokeh" video that should be fun. Ha, yes, there will be some more ranting in it I am sure. Will love to hear your thoughts.

I have the 16-80 f4. I was on the fence about it for a while because of others raving about the sharpness and that extra stop of the 16-55 2.8. The more and more I used it, the less I felt I needed the 16-55. The focal range of the 16-80 is just so versatile. Its plenty wide on the 16 end and I get perfect extension on the 80. The 6 stops of image stabilization is fantastic plus the fact that the lens can detect when it is mounted on a tripod and turn off its image stab is so handy. Ive found that having the f4 all the way through plus the stabilization more than compensates for the 2.8 i would've had on the 16-55, so i can shoot with lower shutter speed than I initially realized. I say all this to say I glad I did not sell it. Its such a unique lens and at a really great price used or new. Thanks for making the video.

I'd been using the Pentax DSLR system for years matched with Sigma mid to wide zooms and very happy with the quality and "atmosphere" the Pentax/Sigma coupling was able to create. Having said that the weight of the gear was getting me down so I looked around and finally jumped into the mirrorless pond and got a Fuji X-10 married to the F4 16-80mm lens. Last year my partner and I went on an extended Euro tour (Germany, Slovenia, Croatia and Hungary), by which time I had upgraded to the Fuji XT-5, still using the 16-80mm. While that lens is not one of the lenses Fuji claims is "compatible" with the higher resolution XT-5, I was very pleased with the result of the more than 2,000 shots I took along the way using only the 16-80mm. If 10% were not up to scratch, that was due to lack of skill on my part and nothing to do with what the 16-80mm lens can actually achieve if you know what you're doing!!! Since than I got the venerable 18-55mm (now made all but obsolete when Fuji recently released its new XF 16-50mm F2.8-4.8, which CAN resolve the XT-5 40.2MP sensor),and the Sigma F2.8 10-18mm lens, a wide angle marvel! All that said I agree with your opinion about the versatility and quality of the Fuji 16-80mm. Like the old 18-55mm, it surpasses all expectations and then some!

Most versatile lens that I have ever owned. It is on my XT4 70% of the time.

The 16-80 is a great lens and I do own it but I usually go with the 16-55. Everyone complains about the weight of the 16-55, but coming from Nikon, it is not a big deal.

Thanks for the comment. I am getting the 80mm macro. My next plan is to get the 16-55. Between those two lens I won’t need the 16-80. Thanks again.

Sir what’s your advice for XT4 and with 16-80 f4 for everyday use and for Streetphotography ? I’m from India 🇮🇳 and it’s very hot, humid and dusty all through the year. And both of those are Weather resistant. Need your advice 🙏

If the set up isn’t too big then I’d say it would work well. I know some street photographers like a small lens and camera. The sharpness and focus accuracy is great. The f4 isn’t fast but raising your ISO is very doable with the xt4

Wow. I am looking to get the 80mm macro and when I do have thought maybe the 16-55 would be a good replacement for the 16-80. Thanks for the comment.

If you don't mind some feedback, as a photography channel, your content should really be in 4K. For example, at 8:16 it would be good to see first hand (... despite KZfaq compression).

Hey, thanks for the comment. I appreciate the input. I have kicked this issue around for awhile. You're probably right. The file size of the videos and such has been my reasoning as to not do 4K to this point. Thanks again, I will strongly consider this.......

Not that familiar with the 16-80, the 18-55 2.8/4 however, is a legend.
