Awesome, it's such a great little creature. Treat yourself to a couple of photobooks too, like Mary Ellen Mark's portrait stuff. And check out Mike Brodie 'A Period of Juvenile Prosperity'. The both of them could really nail a 35mm portrait shot, and some of Mark's stuff could tear your heart out. Happy shooting out there!

Cam, you're f'ing killing it. I've shot with the Xpro2/3 for years for all my fashion and commercial work. While the Canon's were "easier" on set, the Fuji's are such a vibe that I make it work. And the results speak for themselves. Keep crushing it man.

@@cammackey yes please - recently just having complications trying to use flash for proper fashion (practice) shoots - though in my case its to light the subject under low light instead of fill flash that you were using it for if thats the right term?

0:53 She mentions you have it set to iso 640… you using the dr400 mode? Loving the hilight retention!!!! A MUST for desert, backlight and even high contrast city street photography! The dr 400 mode lets me shoot like a photographer again instead of having to walk on highlight blown out egg shells! 🤣

@@TheVFXbyArt It's a great feature if you shoot JPEG only. There were tests done and shooting DR100% raw file kept more dynamic range. It wouldn't appear that way though until you started doing highlight or shadow recovery.

I hate it when models think they are photographers 🤣 I’m being Ironic of course. I think it’s cool. When they know what we are looking for, they catch it faster. And they also can bring new ideas that I haven’t thought of. And it goes the same for the rest of my crew including makeup, hair and stylist, of course.

Was it the autofocus that made the liquor store shots difficult? I hold a red LED flashlight and point it at the model for night shoots. It will help the camera focus, not kill your night vision, and attract less attention.

@@cammackey Definitely try a red LCD flashlight. I just clip mine to my pants. It will also be easier on the model's eyes and maybe no bug attraction but I don't live in Cali.

It’s a daylight conversion filter that was originally made for tungsten balanced film. In simple terms, it’s just a warming filter haha

Maybe I misunderstood something at the beginning of the video. Megan asked if you get the green by having the ISO at 640. Not sure I understand what that was about. I remember in a recent video you said something about using Classic Chrome, kicking up the white balance to like 8200 and shifting the tint towards green. First, do you always do this with Fuji? Secondly, is this what Megan was referring to?

You gotta start off small. If your work isn’t top notch, you gotta aim for amateur models/actors. If you can provide high quality work, they’ll come to you.

Finding some local worthy causes or cash-strapped art / music scene that you like that need photographers is a good start. If somebody asks me to something for free 'because exposure!' I frown deeply, but I've got no beef with offering friends, interesting projects and good causes some of my time.

@@PeterEvansPeteTakesPictures those aren’t models tho brother. Sure if she just wants to gain experience, shoot whoever. And free work is amazing. I still do a lot of it depending on if it will provide value to me in some form. Being a fashion photographer, I’m constantly testing with new models or doing trade with bigger models. Sometimes if it’s a brand a support who don’t have the funds (takes personal judgment) I’ll do it to help out or to build contact. But if it’s any legit brand… never do it for free.
