The Fujifilm X-T4 or the Sony A7iv... which one will you choose? The X-T4 and A7iv both are hybrid cameras with amazing specs, but there are quite a few reasons to own one or the other camera.
Here is my recommendation on which one to buy!

Solid comparison. Honestly for my first camera i really wanted the xt4 but it was out of my budget and i went with a used a6400 instead and while it did its job in my photography work, i never loved the camera. I do love tamron lenses though. They do a great job for a fraction of the price of the native sonys. I’ll be upgrading to an a7iv soon because I’m trying to get into video work and event photography so i need reliable autofocus and good low light performance.

Great video as always, you're very logical and honest (and you're not selling anything). I know that I mentioned this before, I've been doing photography for over thirty years (film) and when I switched to digital I chose Fuji simply for the form factor, specifically the main controls outside the camera, iso dial, aperture ring and shutter dial, price is important, but I didn't put that into the equation, I just wanted a good and fun to use camera strictly for photography, I have yet to shoot video even once on the X-T4 (I should just to make sure that it works). I don't believe that anyone (company) now a days makes a bad camera, especially for an amateur/hobbyist photographer like me. Go ahead and say it Jerred, my comments are always too long😂. Be well and stay safe.

I used different Sony cameras for 10 years, but when I bought a Sony A7M4 and compared the quality of video, photo and autofocus settings, I was pleasantly surprised by this. This camera is a whole head higher in terms of its capabilities and the quality of the resulting picture in photos and videos. For me, this is really a professional level. You just need to set everything up correctly, especially autofocus and colors on the video (I shoot video in S - Cinetone XAVC HS 4K 100M 4: 2: 2 format. Colors and dynamic range adjusted the floor to my liking. I don't need any S - Log. Colors , skin tone and dynamic range suits me completely.

I am the other way round... I got the A7M4 right when it came out, I have been through all GM lenses, the Tamron 35-150, the 20 mm 1.8 G etc etc etc... I have NO enjoyment out of the camera... it might be 5% better than my XT5 in video, but other than that, I am not missing anything... and I even have more MP now for cropping :P

Most of the benefits of a full frame sensor nowadays accrue when shooting at the margins. My Fujifilm X-Pro2 and Nikon Z6II (both 24MP) provide equally pleasing image quality at or below ISO 800, with the color science advantage going to Fujifilm (IMO)...but as the ISOs climb, the Z6II pulls ahead decisively, with as much as a two stop benefit, I find.

Glad I’m not the only one who is also thinking abut these two cameras. I had thought about getting the X-T4 until the A 74 came out, and now I’m thinking I will end up getting the A74. Basically, I want to get one that is a great hybrid and good for everything from landscape to wildlife to sports, but also has great video specs with a minimum of 4K 60. It also needs to have image stabilization, excellent battery life and isn’t too heavy or bulky, because I would take it out on multi day hikes (which I gather rules out Canon). And i can’t afford an A1. That pretty much leaves me with the A74 or X-T4

Thank you for that video. I'm currently with my X-T4 and considering changing (back) to full frame, as I shoot alot of low light and/or video. The X-T4 gave me too much struggles with underexposed pictures I wanted to bump up in post or too with much loss of AF in video situations. What hit me was you saying somethink like "it's depending on what you need it for" and you're totally right: I'd love to keep my Fuji if I'd shoot stills mainly and a few vids all at good exposed situations. But I need higher dynamic range and good low light performance, so I'll need to switch probably. Another point is the bad rendering of Fuji Raws in Adobe software.

Good video, and you pointed out the pros and cons of both systems. I am so glad you picked the XT4 over the Sony, despite it is only APSC. The XT4 is such a fun and nice camera to use. Also thank you for not judging how good a camera is just by auto focus. There’s a lot more to what makes a camera great besides nailing the eye focus.

The Fujifilm cameras look like they would be fun to use. I have seen people struggle with the Sony interface. The Canon is more computer, but the interface is easy, a lot of that is what you are use too. I would always say lens over camera. The R5 once shocked me when I heard a backlit bird, but could not see it. Paired with the ancient 400 f5.6 L the R5 eye af locked on to the bird’s eye. Rent before you buy. The R7 is calling to me. I was on a 90D message board for a while, and many people were frustrated with the lack of sharpness with their 90D. The 32mp sensor simply outperformed most lenses. Camera shake issues would also be an issue. The camera would also see diffraction at wider f-stops faster. Cameras can be very different in unexpected ways.

I've had 3 X-mount bodies and thinking my next upgrade will be a Sony. This is exactly the perspective I was looking for, so thanks for this video. As you point out FUJI AF is the weakest point and why I even started looking elsewhere. These days I only use a "real" camera for nature and travel situations - scenes and subjects that come and go in challenging conditions. When FUJI AF fails every other frame it makes me question why I even stuck with it this long. I am going to miss the manual dials, colors, and value but at least I won't be missing as many shots.

Great breakdown. I currently am a two system shooter with Fuji xt30 and Panasonic m43 cams and a few people have asked me "what camera should I get?" And my answer is usually "depends on your needs". They wanted something for outdoors/animals/travel and I told them to get an Olympus for the weight and good autofocus. I love my Fuji for portraits but the autofocus is definitely only 80% reliable

@@abexoxo I think Sony A7IV was known for good auto focus and Olympus was the same in the M4/3 world...with Panasonic finally using a hybrid autofocus system in the new G9, I'd need to see a side by side test of the current models some day because so much has changed since my original comment. Heck, I've since moved on to the FUJI XS20 which has really good autofocus now too thanks to a new processor (still needs work but is leagues better than my older camera)

Boy did you nail it! I absolutely love Fuji. The cost of lenses etc., but when lighting isn’t perfect it struggles badly. I’ve shot Canon for over 25 years, but size & cost of their new RF lenses aren’t budget friendly. I still own the original Canon R & the R6. I’ve contemplated switching totally but Fuji still has limitations that keep me holding onto my Canon system. Watching Canon’s apsc announcement yesterday moved me to preorder their new R7 from B&H. I’m not giving up on Fuji, I’ve learned there are no perfect cameras, just tools to help create magical memories! I did decide to sell my R6 to a buddy, so there’s budget left to see what Fuji announces next week! Happy shooting, I always enjoy your perspective!
@nightowlnzab
@nightowlnzab 2 жыл бұрын
The R7 is an attractive option - but I just feel those RF-S lenses aren't particularly exciting, so you'd really have to invest in the pricey RF FF lenses (or adapt older EF lenses) to make the most of it. Benefits are of course you get that good Canon menu and touch interface, and their much better AF. We'll find out next week if Fujifilm will get closer to competing on that front.

We if budjet is a concern then stay with Canon. The new Fuji XH2S is a beast of a machine at $2500! 8k/60, 40 frames per second with improved autofocus and tracking(so they say) but $2500 for an Apsc camera is a lot. They will also sell a external fan to aid in cooling.

This is such a useful video, thank you. I love the nuance and your clear pros and cons insights. I shoot mostly birds and some occasional portraits (I would love to do more, but so far no luck). I do well with my X-T4 and I LOVE the film simulations. For all my “non-bird” subjects I can rely on the jpegs with the raw as a backup. For birds I use the raw to keep all the detail I can manage (Capture One is great for Fuji files). I love the retro feel of the camera and appreciate the excellent EvF - no blackout in e-Shutter which is helpful in tracking birds. But I would like better subject tracking and bird eye autofocus. I’m contemplating the A7 IV (bigger sensor but I’d have to sell and rebuild my lens collection) vs the new X-H2s. I have not made a decision because I see pros and cons with both. Anyways, this is just a great reference to help me frame my thoughts!

@@JerredZ Thanks again!! The A7IV and the upcoming X-H2s are the exact same price. I am debating the speed of the X-H2s against for the larger sensor of the A7 IV. It's not so much the burst speed that is attractive in the X-H2s, it is the live view in the EVF that makes it much easier to follow a fast moving bird. That is a function of the refresh rate of the evf, as well as the burst speed. I'm not finding much information on the EVF's performance on the A7 IV. Do you know if the A7 IV provides a live view when shooting a burst of photos? Or does the A7 IV's evf just show a preview of the previous shot in the EVF, when shooting a high speed burst of photos?

Third party support for Fuji is now picking up with Sigma and Tamron, but it's indeed true that with a Sony camera you have way more options when it comes to lenses than with Fuji. But as you've pointed out as well: the top lenses at Sony will cost considerably more than the Fuji lenses. No point in buying a Sony A7 IV to equipt it with a very mediocre lens so you can save a bit of money. But that being said, as a Fuji owner I will say that the Sony is the better camera. The question is however what camera is good enough for you. And the X-T4 will probably check all the boxes in many cases (except for birds in flight, where it's quite frankly horrible).

I'm working on my first short film doing production and BTS stills. I've been using a X-T1 with the XC 35 f2 and a canon FD 50 f1.4. I use the X-T1 for anything that needs to establish a mood that you simply can't get on any other camera body. I also shoot with a Pentax K3 original. Both are nearly 10 years old and APS-C cameras. I will say that I'm most excited to size up to the 24 or 26 mp X-Trans processor. I'm going to upgrade to the X-T4 around the holidays when there's a good deal. The main difference no one mentions for some of us revolves around the geometry of the sensors and the definition of, “Normal,”lenses. “Normal,” in photography has nothing to do with angle of view. What it refers to is how a lens portrays the distance spacial relationship between objects in the image. A 52mm lens represents objects in the foreground and background the way the eye does. It matters not what the size of the sensor or film is. A 35mm lens on a crop sensor is NOT, “norman.” It’s slightly wide angle and will distorts the apparent separation of objects. A 50mm lens on a FF sensor will render object spacial relationships the way the eye does. For those who like the, “normal,” look then to get it on a crop sensor one has to limit the angle of view down to approx what one will get with an 85mm lens on a FF sensor. Micro 4/3 means to get, “normal,” looking shots the angle of view is that of a 100mm/FF combo. The is why we recognize that, medium format look. With a 50mm lens on a medium format sensor we can achieve a “normal,” subject separation along with the angle of view of approximately a 35mm lens on a FF or 23mm on a crop sensor. 50mm is 50mm is 50mm and that’s it for true, “normal.” A 35mm is NOT a crop sensor “normal” equivalent. Angle of view only. Just ain’t. I love the “normal” look when doing street photography but also love the Fuji cameras styling, weight and size enough to make the sacrifice. If money was no object I’d own a Leica M10, but at 4 or 5 time to price and twice the weight…no way.

Nice video, the X-T5 has everything to make Sony run for its money, specially when competing with its aps-c line. However it will all come down to how much Fuji really improve its AF and the price they will bring it to the market. 😎📷

@jaegerschtulmann Жыл бұрын
Well this didn't age so well, the Fuji xt5 was just released and although its AF is better than the xt4 (as it should be) it's only good for taking headshots in video, in photos it's still lags behind the a74 and despite the 40mp sensor the pictures are still less sharp when compared to the 33mp a74 (both cameras using their latest premium primes) all that Fuji has going for is the film simulation and colour science. (even the ergos are horrible with those grips)
@williamaungleyraud
@williamaungleyraud Жыл бұрын
@@jaegerschtulmann well Fujifilm ended up going the photo centric route (sadly for me who prefers the fully articulated screen of the X-T4, but let's not talk about that) so at least I'm happy that Fujifilm didn't take the customizable buttons away or replaced them for something else. It's early to say that the X-T5 isn't competing with the Sony a7IV because not many firmware updates have been rolled out, while the Sony is certainly longer in the market (although I don't really follow their firmware updates). Personally speaking I hoped for a different X-T5 than what Fuji gave us, I hoped for an X-T4 with a better grip, better ibis, better AF, better processor, and the stacked sensor for faster readouts. And I'm not against the X-H2s or the X-H2, they have their purpose, I just don't see myself buying one at this point. Pricing I think Fuji nailed it, they totally could've priced higher, with inflation and all madness going on, to keep the price conservative was a good move. After all I believe that the X-T5 will serve well to photographers who simply don't care to be in front of the camera themselves, the lighter and more efficient body will be a good reminder of why Fuji users prefers aps-c over FF cameras, although I'm with you about the grip, and I wished Fuji wouldn't pluck the battery grip away from it, or at least left the port so third-parties could develop their own battery grip solutions. Except for the pricing part, yes, my commend didn't age that well 🤣🤣🤣

Isn't this kinda simple? If you want/need fullframe (ie. portrait, low light) or do primary fast moving objects get Sony if you don't need that get the Fuji. The Fuji is a joy to use but takes some time to get used to... it is also less ergonomic and comfortable to hold/use. Menus on Sony got a lot better but are still not there, you get more 3rd party lenses and accessories for Sony. There are also a lot of used lenses on 2nd hand market. Was having a hard time finding used Fuji lenses for a normal price (they hold the value). I would be happy with both. Used the A7III for few weeks but got the X-T3 because it was cheaper used with a lens that the A7III was.

"...enjoy photography more and not get too worked up over the details..." Yup! For the enthusiast, you can't beat the bang for the buck you get with the X series cameras from Fuji. And, for us "old timers", you get those fun film camera style top controls and aperture rings. Funny, I just shot pics at my nephew's T ball game Monday night. I used my X-T3 with.....yes, a Canon FD 135mm f3.5 manual focus only lens. It was a blast. And, most of the images were really nice. I just used focus peaking. Of course, T ballers are not moving quite as fast as older kids. But, that lens cost me $35.00! The look from the lens was also really cool. Now, don't get me wrong. I do want a fast, longer lens to do sports. Just not sure what to buy or what I can afford in that arena. So, any suggestions are very welcome.. :-) Thanks for a great video with common sense points. Great commentary! As a Fuji fanboy for many years now, I don't know how much longer I can tolerate the unreliable AF, especially in video mode. I used to shoot 80% stills / 20% video and that ratio has essentially flipped. If the AF performance of this new X-H2s is not the same or better than Sony, I will likely sell my Fuji gear and replace it with a different brand. But I will ALWAYS keep my X100V - that's the camera I use most often and it's soooo fun to use. New sub here!

At one point I tried it out on a tripod in my living room with light coming from a large window to the side and ceiling lights turned on and sometimes it just wouldn't detect my face. You also get crazy focus breathing when using AF-C. AF-S worked better in most cases. The size and weight difference also weren't that much of a factor, my camera with standard lens now is 200g heavier and 2cm longer which I feel isn't that big of a deal.

What I think is not talked about enough is when you get more serious about doing photography for paid work, you NEED back up bodies. So a price difference can become an extremely deciding point when you factor in 2x XT4 or 2x A74. I also appreciated the fact that I could grab a XT30II for half the price of an XT4 (as my backup body) to make my entire professional kit affordable, without comprising IQ and coming way under budget. I also put a lot of value on the XT4 jpgs, my time spent in post production is massively reduced, which again increases value and profit margins.

Good video... I have a Fuji X-T20 and have not been too happy. Sure, the lenses and camera are compact. But I just don't dig the ergonomics. Wondering if the X-T4 will help with ergonomics, but not sure... the grip isn't much better. I do like the ability to manually control and see the exposure control dials (iso, shutter speed, aperture). But my biggest gripe with my Fuji is its slow autofocus - especially when shooting young kids who refuse to stay still. You can move up to higher shutter speeds to keep up with them, but then you are hampered by the APS-C sensor as it has lower light gathering capability. Sure you can bump up ISO, but then it get's noisy really quickly, especially when you're indoors. I don't like the Sony's looks with all its branding, etc. on the body and I really wanted to stay in the Fuji ecosystem... but I always feel like I am limited by my camera. Its slow to focus and less light gathering capability then full frame. Still torn between Sony A7iv vs. X-T4, but I am leaning towards the Sony.

But who can afford to buy expensive full frame with almost no resistance to switch to any kind of photography they should opt for the best in the business at the time of purchase!! I bought into the Fuji systems for 2 reasons: 1) the constantly repeated comment that APS-C camera and lenses are significantly lighter and smaller and 2) I assumed full frame was significantly more expensive and mainly for professionals. Fuji lenses are getting bigger and heavier and the Nikon z6ii can be had for less than an XH2 or XH2s. No matter how many MP, an APS-C sensor will always be smaller than a FF sensor. I had been using the Fuji XT4 for about 2 years and recently tried the Sony A7iv mainly for making my youtube content. For the solo content creator, the XT4 is a manual camera. The auto WB and auto exposure surges and is unusable and the AF hunts bad enough to be unreliable. In the past month and a half, my videos have gotten better and I can now think about photography instead of what my video settings are. The still image quality is a notch up as well on the A7iv. I kept my XT3, but the XT4 seems like the processor just isn't up to the task of doing everything + IBIS. I'm pretty sure the new XH2 is a corker, but the A7iv is doing the business for me now and I prefer the XT interface anyway. The XT4 low light performance was good up to 6400 iso. The A7iv is good up to 52000. The A7iv is more expensive, but it just works and gets the job done for me. I can't say that about the XT4 and it's not for lack of trying.

Being a photographer rather than a videographer, I am waiting for the X-H2(s), because I heavily invested in fuji glass. And my x-t2 and even xt-3 do not excel in the AF area as expected, especially eye AF and especially when it's getting dark. Like you told: a little bit frustrating. Nikon - and even Canon - on the other hand offer much more ergonomics. And I also like the Customer functions. If you are shooting outdoor scenes and then studio scenes, it is so easy to customize two different modes for everything from electronic/mechanical shutter, to whitebalance, to shutter speed, to ISO, to viewfinder brightness. So now you might understand why an amateur like me is saving to get the X-H2s pretty soon. I'm not interested in 40+ megapixels what the X-H2 might get out -even at a lower price- , because of file size overkill. For my street photography, I quite often set size/quality to jpg/medium or even jpg/small.

Great video & run-down, thanks! The main difference is when you add the lenses... I'm a Nikon shooter but probably going to jump to the Sony purely for the lenses. With the release of the X-H2S I'm giving Fuji another glance. What lenses with the Fuji would make the cost comparable with the same level of excellence? Ex. the Tamron 150-500mm I can get for $1100 currently, and it's an outstanding lens... same for all Tammy's 2.8's for the E-mount. Every time I've looked at the Fuji line-up the price-point equalizes with other FF systems when accounting for the lenses I'd want (if they are even available). Thanks again, appreciated adding your thoughts to my decision process.

@JerredZ 2 жыл бұрын
Oh man... tough question! You know... Fuji just doesn't have the lens choices, and that does hurt them. My Sony A7IV with the 150-500 is just so solid for the price. With Sony you get far more options. But the Fuji lineup has some hidden gems - the 23/35/50mm f/2 lenses are so small and light, they focus quickly, and they are optically great for solid price points. And I have the Sigma 56 1.4 and love it - for the price it's incredible! BUT - I'd still say Sony has the major advantage with lens choices - Fuji just doesn't come close in options, although they still have some great glass.

I think what annoys people about the crop on the a7iv in 4k60 is the fact that the same lens can’t give you the same framing when shooting in 4k24/30 and when you switch to 4k60 for say B roll. Yes you have that crop on the Fuji but it’s on all the time because that’s the sensor size, so the effective difference in framing between 4k30 and 4k60 on the Fuji is much smaller given the same lens. I love my fuji but honestly if they don’t really deliver on an AF system that catches up to the competition with that new stacked sensor, it’s going to be HARD justifying staying with them in the long run, even though they make the most fun to use cameras. In the end if a memory is missed because the camera can’t focus, it doesn’t matter how fun the camera is to use…

I’ve been looking at my files during this whole transition thought process and noticed that non of my photos are sharp. Even my controlled portraits. That’s frustrating. Street Photography is sometimes very reactionary and you don’t always have time to put the box on the eye. I feel that Sonys superior auto eye detect would greatly improve nailing focus. The X-T4 is often compared on price to the more "affordable" full frame bodies, but if you look a bit deeper - those bodies often aren't equivalent on specs like weather sealing, dual card slots, drive speed, EVF/screen resolution. In NZ, the A7 IV is about twice the price of the X-T4 currently, and once you start adding in good lenses... phew, how much does a kidney sell for? 😅 Similar story for Canon RF and to some degree, Nikon Z. Looking forward to seeing if the X-H2[s] can close the tech gap, particularly AF and subject detection - I'd love to see some computational options like we see on the OM-1. There's a heck of a lot to like otherwise in the Fujifilm X system, even for RAW - I find I don't have to edit much, I import into Capture One, usually flick through the film sim curves as a starting point and make some minor tweaks.

So what I would love to see is you repeat this comparison, but substitute the X-H2s for the X-T4 and also test a Sony power zoom cinema lens.

For portrait work- you have to use Zone in AF-C. Its one extra step that you dont have to do on latest gen Sony or Canon- but if you just learn that- you can hit all your portraits. For sports or wildlife- you cant always set up your zones that quick- but for fashion or portraits- fuji is absolutely fine as long as you dont expect it to work exactly like Sony or Canon.

I feel the only significant difference between the 2 formats is the dynamic range. The shallow DoF could be an issue sometimes even. I am really hoping Fuji makes some serious improvements in the upcoming summit. I love Fuji colours, the ability to edit raw in-camera without a laptop, lots of tactile buttons etc. I switched from Canon to Fuji thinking the dials were a stupid waste of time, but now I love it so much. Little things like the MCS switch in front, the hybrid toggle are amazing features. One thing that frustrates me about Fuji is the autofocus. There's this hidden feature Ghost Face/Eye AF, always reminding me I have spirits in my scene. Or how there's no touch to track in video in the X-T4 but my $500 Canon SL2/200D has it and tracks better. Another is, full frame is just generally cheaper now :/ and in some cases better. Equivalent lenses on Sony are far cheaper when factoring in the great 3rd party options. E.g. 16-55 is the same price as the Sony 24-105 f/4 OSS. More range, comes with stabilization, essentially the same cost. Or Fuji's new primes like the 33mm f/1.4 that performs worse than the Nikon Z 50mm f/1.8 while costing 60% more. The new f/2 or f/2.8 primes by Sony and Sigma perform so well, it makes me wonder is there even a point in spending so much for the new 23 and 33mm. If Fuji doesn't pull ahead with next week's releases, I think I might sell the X-T4 and downgrade to maybe the X-E4 or something while using my excellent XF 18mm f1.4. And use the money to buy the A7iv. I will probably only leave Fuji if Sony ever makes a 28mm f/1.4 GM. Or if I win lottery and can afford the Leica Q2. I love 28mm fov for street, general EDC life stuff and there's only 1 other option on the mirrorless market that is the Leica 28mm which is too chonky even if I had money to buy it.

@@denis5850 Lowkey thinking about doing just that. I think after my upcoming travel, I might just do the same. Only thing I might miss is the 18mm f/1.4 because that is just a god tier lens. No other mirrorless 28mm equiv comes close in terms of sharpness.

I have two totally different cameras, the Nikon Z6ii and the X100V and I have the same issue with Eye-Af. I find the Nikon basically nails eye-af 99% of the time, where with the X100V I'm constantly battling the eye-af to the point where I've actually set a fn button to specific toggle it on and off. I love the X100V, but I just can't trust the eye-af on it, so a lot of times I end up just shooting it old school with singlepoint.
@JerredZ
@JerredZ 2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, Benjamin - I tried the eye focus on the X100v one time and never tried it again. That being said, I think it focuses amazingly quickly on single point and VERY accurate, even on moving (not too fast) subjects. So at a wedding it's a killer combination. I shot for many years though with the old Canon 5d and center point autofocus - I probably did 50 weddings that way, so I know how to do it right! LOL!

@@JerredZ I agree, the AF on the X100V is great in single point mode. The camera pretends to be old school in its styling, so I honestly don't mind that I have to go "old school" in the AF department as well.

wow great video. I am wanting to get a camera for photographing and taking videos of dogs. Dogs running, dogs playing, portraits and possibly some people or flowers too ;D Would XT4 still work with that in mind, for autofocus? For someone who isn't that skilled or has so much expertise on settings etc. I like to set up a few basic settings and then point and shoot. And I like to have the option of exploring settings and doing post-editing (not that it will happen so often). It will be for instagram, perhaps websites, facebook. But primarily it is for me and capturing moments and eternalizing pretty dogs. :D What would you recommend? :D
@JerredZ
@JerredZ Жыл бұрын
Zelania, from my experience the Sony A7iv would do fantastic work for you. You could set it up for continuous focus, tell the camera to focus on "animals" and then use wide-zone autofocus to see the entire scene. In this scenario, the camera should see and track the animals reliably! I just recently went to a dog park with my 85mm and it tracked animals really well!

Im looking at an upgrade from a canon 550d, had it 10 years now I think since I was 15. Its a hobby, comparing all these high quality cameras its hard to really know what would actually make a difference for me. I could probably pick out any camera over 1300 and it fine for me but going to the x-t4 is gonna be weird with how much better it is. The auto focus on my canon can annoy me sometimes too in low light so ill need to check that first. I now shoot in RAW+JPEG by default and I though the fuji colour was interesting and cool. Also people saying cameras can easily do over 800 ISO just doesn't compute to me anything above like 600 for my canon and it wouldn't look good so I never really pushed it I just stuck to 100-600 which I understand is low af.

I own both Sony full frame, sony apsc, and Fujifilm. For everyday casual shooting, I will pick up my Fujifilm camera anytime because I love the colors straight out of camera. But if I'm going to shoot in events where I'm going to edit the raws anyways, I will pick up any Sony camera I own, as I can get more keepers on difficult shooting situations with Sony. Some may argue that I can still get fantastic photos from Fujifilm, well, that's true if I work a little harder, but for the matter of convenience, Sony wins for me.

Maybe the comparison with the a74 should be the xh2. Can you see quality difference between the xt4 and the OM1? I know the OM1 has great ibid and great auto focus, but is micro 4/3rds too much of a sensor compromise?
@JerredZ

Hey, Allen - I agree, the XH2 and A7iv is a good comparison video! And the OM1 is awesome. I haven't used it too much, but I know for me personally the file are great MOST of the time, but in lower light situations or extremely difficult situations, the 4/3rds format isn't as flexible as other files. So although i love the micro 4/3rds system because it's so much fun to shoot with, I personally don't like the limits I get in editing!

FF always has a premium over APSC so cost wise, the A7III is a better comparison. And you can use APSC lenses on it if you want but have the option for FF lenses and have better eye AF. Ergos aren't as good as the A7IV definitely. XT4 has a nice retro feel though... 🙂
