No visit to the south of Japan would be complete without stopping in Fukuoka and as you are passing through, Nanzoin Temple and its reclining buddha should be on top of your travel list!
Being about the same size as New York's Statue of Liberty, it is truly awe-inspiring. Walk around it and soak in the peace and quiet that resonates from it. Also make sure to go inside, venture into the hidden chamber and explore the rest of this beautiful temple, as there is so much more to see...

Thank you. You convinced me to go. I'm in Fukuoka for the marathon and this was the perfect place to go and just prepare myself mentally for the race.

What a wonderful place so many spiritual places to meditate and recharge your own soul and spirt and get in touch with the many spirits, Japanese culture is so rich and that statue of Buda is just awesome with a wow factor of 10.

Yes, I think because the entrance is a little hidden (behind what looks like an information) it's not so obvious. Plus there is no English, which makes it a bit difficult, but its quite beautiful inside, plus knowing you stand where the heart of the Buddha is, makes it rather special :)

@@LetsTravelandEat i have been inside the Kamakura Buddha. 😁. i also have been to the reclining Buddha in Thailand. they are almost the same size. there is also a solid gold Buddha there, that is worth an estimated $250 million dollars😲

Oh wow!!! I would love to see that! I have been to the Kamakura one, but it seemed small compared to this. There is another one hidden in Kyoto, I made a video, the "Ryōzen Kannon" it filled with small statues, very beautiful :)
