Fulaim X5, TOSICAM Mailada, Neewer CM28 rebrand wireless microphone is a Dual Wireless Lav Mic with internal recording & charging case. It is the best I have seen for the price paid, giving the Rode Wireless II and DJI Mic real competition.

Best video I've seen on this product. No matter the length, I had to watch 8-10 videos to get all the facts, and yet you managed to speak about two functions no one else talked about: the fact that you can control the internal recording volume {which another reviewer said was impossible}, and that this works with common budget mini shotgun mics. I knew it worked with wired lavs but no one mentioned which brands are compatible so I appreciate you're testing a bunch of them. Good job.

Thank you very much. I started these reviews because I was tired of only hearing part of the story about microphones. Like people testing only to iPhone or not being fully truthful... There is a large channel that reviews the Hollyland Lark Max which I also reviewed and they say it's as good as their Sennheiser MKH50 and their mic is buzzing in their recording they show. Purposely deception from a large channel with over 50,000 subscribers that has employees working for them. I currently make ZERO income other than sales through my links and I pay for nearly everything I review including this product. I try to make my videos detailed, oddly being too detailed works against you on KZfaq since nobody has questions and works against the algorithm... So thank you again for comment. DJI Mic works with wired lavaliers as well but unlike my review very few people tell you or show it works poorly with many wired lavalier.

Great to control internal record volume! I just spotted a minor bug which may have happened to the other reviewer. When the mic is powered on it defaults to rec lev 4. This does not change again until adjust the volume on the receiver. So it's possible for the receiver vol reading and the internal mic to be totally out of sync! The mic has no memory I guess so defaults to 4 at power on. But the software should re sync the volumes when the receiver and mic first connect, I consider that a minor bug that we users need to be aware of! 4 is a good level to be at, so it's not likely to cause too many problems.

@@sparkestudioAn idea to solve that - KZfaq should make note of people who have watched multiple reviews all the way through - and see that when they say, "best video" - it likely means something! It will not help YT revenue though - as they want people to see multiple videos, if they took people to the best one right away, they would never bother to watch others! So that may be why the brainiacs at google do not do this, they care about money too much?

@@andrewnorris5415 Some people might be looking for entertainment and thinking that is the best review. KZfaq seems to push more the people that sell more and all everything the best and leave you confused. You might be on to something though. If they see my video they have all the answers they need, if they watch someone else's they are still confused and are going to keep watching more afterwards... makes sense.

Don't get me wrong. I have used cheaper, a cheaper Saramonic lapel that is only about $30 ish USD but it was the worst sounding and wasn't good enough for me to want to test. Every single lapel mic I test here is out of pocket including ones not shown Shure TL47 XLR which costs about $500 USD and the Movo XLR I reviewed on this channel. Only lapel not out of pocket was the Aitone which is $10 a USD lapel. It is in the garage dump somewhere.

Hello again :) - I'm on the market for something like this but I have a couple of questions: Have you tested the battery life to see if it stacks up to the manufacturer claims? - I'm seeing inconsistency there, some say 6 hours, some say 8, but can't find a test. Also, size wise, they claim to be 1.8x smaller and 1.7x lighter than the DJI transmitter (47x26x13mm 18g on the X5 vs the DJI 47x30x20 30g), while having batter battery, I mean, woah! - Is that true or are they exaggerating the specs? - also the noise reduction is garbage, how easy it is to accidentally switch it on, I'm worried about this. Finally, if you plug the receiver to a laptop, does it show up as an audio interface? is the quality comparable to connecting with 3.5mm? Btw, the ZV-E1 is phenomenal vs my previous X-S20! - I recorded a couple of videos on my channel with it if you're interested :)
@sparketech
@sparketech 10 ай бұрын
I will have to test battery life. The side of the DJI mic transmitters (microphones) are darn close to the same as the fullaim. The receiver that connects to the camera is the huge DJI mic part that is far larger than the DJI mic. I also Reviewed the DJI mic and there are some real issues with it that make it good for everyone. For one it really sucks with wired lavaliers and the DJI mic comes through one speaker with iPhone. I test the PC with the Fulaim, laptop use should be identical and means it shows up as an audio device

@@sparketech Thank you for that. One thing I just noticed as I was contemplating to hit the buy now button is it is 16bit, not 24bit like pretty much every other option on the market! - That sounds like quite an important difference, has that been an issue at all? -- if you always set your levels perfect then you won't hear a difference, but having that flexibility of an extra 48dB noise floor means if you set your levels a bit too low, especially in a run and gun setting, the X5 is inferior to all other options, no? What would be your choice of wireless mic that's not too expensive with all your experience?
@sparketech
@sparketech 10 ай бұрын
@@DigiDriftZone Fulaim X5 is an unbeatable price. As long as not lifting more than 14 Dba you'll never notice the difference compared to 24bit. The volume of the internal recording is based on the volume of the mic. If you plan to set your mic at lower than 3 volume the hiss in the resulting volume lift needed is going to be an issue so set your camera appropriately.

Great review, thanks! I am no audio expert, so I am wondering in what way the quality is better than the DJI etc - and esp how that matters in the real world? Is it the amount of random b/g hiss? Would that go away with an external MIC? And if the quality of the A to D converter as good as the DJI when using an external MIC? And would it be best to use an EQ and compressor on this MIC to get even more from it? I would have no idea on settings though - so if you can give me a rough idea. Someone said it depends on what makes the actual person or sounds I am recording better. I will need to do some reading/watching vids! Thanks again!
@sparkestudio

Thank you for your comments Andrew. DJI mic is certainly higher quality but there are certainly reasons and situations DJI Mic isn't worth the money which actually caused me to return it after my review. At you asked DJI Mic is not using internal recording has high self noise to camera for such an expensive system. DJI Mic has low wired lavalier compatibly and if it is hissy to the camera it is also hissing in the internal recording. DJI mic has better recording quality, actually I would say the best period BUT DJI Mic is also more sensitive towards audio sources nearby than any other mic. Wonderful for nature sounds, the best for that but in the city area it picks up more of all those bad sounds than even the Fulaim X5. The DJI Mic 2 adds noise removal but there is not really great option that doesn't sound somewhat odd but when in a pinch it helps over the 1st version. If I would to choose an option and money isn't the concern it would be Rode Wireless Pro. I have a video about it and how to hack the Pro to make it work better than what is simply included with it.

@@sparkestudio excellent, thanks for your reply, really appreciated! Is the X5 still pretty good for nature sounds would you say, and perhaps an external mic would enhance the X5 further for nature sounds?
@sparkestudio
@sparkestudio 3 ай бұрын
@@andrewnorris5415 Won't be great for nature, it lacks the quality of microphone. An external mic like Rode Lavalier II might be okay or an external mic made wireless BUT most of the better mics for nature sounds are 48V phantom powered which leaves only battery powered options and more wired lavalier mics have semi poor sound. Maybe I could think of something but at the moment drawing a blank... Sorry about how long it is taking me to reply today I made a video for this channel; not yet live. I made 4 short videos and pictures for a Batman at McDonalds video I recorded for another channel that I do contract work for. Tomorrow I have to spend all day studying for my re-write for my electrical Interprovincial electrical exam. Monday I film for the contractor and hopefully another video for my channel. Don't mind helping. just it can take me a bit to getting around to replying. Which area of the world are you from? Cause if you were somewhat close I have no need for the Fulaim X5. I only use the Rode Wireless Go II and the Hollyland Lark Max... I also don't use the Saramonic BlinkMe anymore. The BlinkMe is an amazingly cool but they didn't refine it and fix the firmware bugs. Otherwise it could have been my Fav internal recording wireless mic system.

@@sparkestudio Really appreciate your offer to help despite being so busy. I'm from the UK. Just actually got a Neewer version of the X5. Seems good for recording voices in podcasts and interviews or weddings and recoding my voice on cycle rides. I got it at a good price and could sell on for not much loss. Looking also at a cheap second hand Zoom H1n v2. I believe these are better for nature sounds? I also want to record the background ambiance while on my cycle rides (city and countryside). And I think the Zoom H1 could be OK for that if set levels right (only 24 bit). Seems to have a sensitive MIC. I just need to get a dead cat for it when on the bike. Could also use it when interviewing random people I do not want to MIC up. Pretty new to filming but finding the community to be amazing. People like yourself are very encouraging and make good content to learn from. Just take your time if you want to reply with any advice, I can see you are busy and totally understand.

@@andrewnorris5415 The Neewer is identical to this. Best quality for the price paid period. The Zoom device you are speaking of ai have never used, only the F3 I've used and when on movie set we used the F6. 24bit audio is good enough for most people, 32bit is a little over hyped but is useful for boosting extreme silence and when recording extremely loud noises to avoid clipping but generally even a 24bit device can be adjusted accordingly to a point. 32bit flaot is also harder to work with due to the extreme loud and silent sounds that can be present requiring edits to sections of the audio levels... Basically the volume can become drastically different from loud to crazy silent. Perfect for someone that doesn't mind putting in the work under mission critical situations where you might only have one chance to get it right. As for that Zoom you mentioned (looked it up on my mobile phone) my only concern it like likely has a cheapish mic. Might be fine, if you want a great one like I almost bought the H6 is awesome. Can't wait till you see Batman the movie I am working on. I work with an actor, it'll be released on their channel but ai might release a movie trailwr with link when I have it done next month. The actor is apparently blown away by the fact I am a one man movie studio. Trust me, the movie will blow your mind. Won't likely be done till mid April or start of May. I act in it, film, take care of the audio, lighting, editing.
