Another expert demonstration, Balint. Your counterpoint is so good, and it was fun to hear so many chorales. Congratulations to the congregation and T & B on such a fine instrument. I know the acoustic is intimate, but it reminds me of the wonderful early Schnitger in Luedigworth. In such a revealing environment, the true artistry of the builder and the player are exposed. Well done.

A truly terrific instrument, really ! And an organist up to the intrument ! From Albert, in Alsatia, ´the land of organs ‘.

A fascinating demonstration. Some of the timber used in the casework was extraordinarily fine - shame it was in the gallery where it could not been admired! It is not often that you find an organ in a west gallery in an Anglican setting - it would have been normal in the 18th and early 19th centuries. The probably solution is an east and a west end organ but that gets expensive! It is the best place for an organ in support of congregation so that it speaks down the nave. It may be a dry acoustic but this looks a spacious building and I expect the builder did careful voicing. I assume the Great chorus was on a low pressure of 3" or less and the Principal 8' sound just like an 18thC English Diapason. As the chorus build up, the differences developed. I thought the string tones were rather fine and the families of fluted were delightful. When wooden Posaune sounds so good why do we ahve metal ones??

As you say the acoustic is on the dry side (cf Royal Festival Hall London!) but the builders have achieved wonderful results from both the individual voices and the tutti. Slight surprise on my part to find such a magnificent instrument in such a characterless building. I don't suppose the congregations are particularly large but if they were the acoustic would be even dryer. Faultless demonstration from you as usual and it is so pleasing that you have sorted out the technical sound quality so that your speech is clear and the instrument in the right sound perspective.

If you can visit, the twelve Tiffany windows, along with other fine English and American stained glass, will calm your surprise and provide the "character" in the building that you haven't noticed.

A very nice organ in an undoubtedly dry acoustic. Nevertheless I still really like the organ. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that there was a string and Celeste in the Brustwerk. It’s a rather interesting, but clever idea to make the organ more versatile for its main purpose of accompanying the service. Thanks for your excellent, as always, demonstration!

Sad that it's such a dry acoustic given the size of the building. Maybe they should remove all those pew cushions?

Too many viewers make complaints about the space! Not all churches can be huge cathedrals with six or seven second reverberation time. If an organ is voiced as well as possible for where it is, that should satisfy any listener, who should in any case pay more attention to the Music than to the technical aspects.

Thank you for the fine demonstration of the organ. Shame about the dry acoustic but sadly, unsympathetic acoustics are not that uncommon. It is a real test for an organ builder and voicer.

I quickly got used to it; imprecise organists might struggle. An organ in a dry space takes no prisoners. It is much like a recital hall sort of acoustic, but in a big space. The organ seems 'right scaled' to me, but we only have a recording. For what they set out to build, I am in awe of Taylor and Boody. Nothing seems left to chance, nor to a ringing acoustic to bury imprecision. Pipe speech seems as determined as pitch and scale. Caveat voicer! Cave mihi musicum!

Compared with the (absolute lack of) reverb in my church building, this sounds almost lush! Just as well, the organ is an appliance with fake reverb.

It bugs me somewhat that the organ case is baroque in an otherwise gothic church. The organ is beautiful, but looks like it doesn't belong there.

Sublime talent. BUT...Fine plaster the interior surfaces, remove all vestige of carpet from the interior of the church nave & you would have what Dr Karosi can actually perform with ! It will take time but the Americans can learn from the European tradition of acoustic building!

First, take the fucking carpet on the stairway off---remove it. Then remove all cushions on the pews; then all carpet in the room. Then let's hear it. This room doesn't deserve a pipe organ of any kind.

That’s the only carpet in the room. When the organ went in, the church did renovations including removing the carpet and lifting the roof for the benefit of the organ. We ain’t made of money. You’re rude as fuck.

Well I might have put it differently, but Pope here has a point. Here we have a gorgeous 38 stop organ built in historical style, complete with some lovely unique sounds. Yet the church made no effort to accommodate what they had bought by working on their acoustics. I find that just sad.
@artistical88
@artistical88 2 жыл бұрын
@@grahaml6668 the church actually put a lot of effort and money into renovating the building to improve the acoustics. They lifted the roof and removed all the carpet but what you see on the steps. You’re just plain wrong.
