"Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them humanity cannot survive"
~ H.H. Dalai Lama
“It has become almost impossible to say, ‘I don’t care about future generations,’ ‘I don’t care about poverty in the midst of plenty’ and ‘I don’t care if there are 200 million climate refugees in 2030. Altruism should not be relegated to the realm of noble Utopian thinking maintained by a few big-hearted, naïve people. On the contrary, it is a determining factor of the quality of our existence, now and to come. We must have the insight to recognize this and the audacity to proclaim it.The altruism revolution is on its way. Let us all be part of it.”
~ Matthieu Ricard
"All people are united in our pursuit of happiness and our desire to avoid suffering. This is the source of humanity’s greatest achievements. For that reason, we should begin to think and act on the basis of an identity rooted in the words 'we humans.'”
~ HH Dalai Lama

This was my first Richard Bach book, back in the Stone Age when I was young. It changed the way I saw...everything. Whenever I felt stuck, my father would remind me that Jonathan wouldn’t have quit. Then I found “Illusions”, also by Mr. Bach. That book also changed not just the way I saw the world, it changed the way I saw myself, (incredibly lucky for me as it changed the self destructive path I was beginning to embrace). Mr. Bach - you have my respect, admiration, and my profound gratitude.

This book has brought me to tears since age of 12. But oh, now at 25, after awakening and trying to tell others about the joy, bliss and freedom that enlightenment - finding our true nature - has brought me, does this book seem even more like the story of my life.

I found this book when I was 14 at my public library. It was for sale for 79 cents. It changed my life. I have the seagull from the cover tattooed on me. It means so much to me. I’m so happy I found this video because I don’t always have time to read it again. Thank you.

When I was 14 years old, I was listening to the broadcast of the book while eating lunch at school. Everyone in the classroom is listening very quietly. It's a unforgettable experience. I was immersed in the plot for fear of it. I guess its mind.

When to understand this story, then you are on the edge of embracing all, love, kindness, time and space. I wish all could hear what’s beating inside of me at this moment, all simply is. Nothing more nothing less. Love to R.B. May all good “things” come your way.

The movie "Johnathan Livingston Seagull" is a film of rare beauty, felt by people with special culture qualities; to this is added the soundtrack of the movie that is a "sonorous jewel" made by one of the most "big voices" in the world ... NEIL DIAMOND ... after listening to the gorgeous pieces of fim you have to stay for a while hours alone living the ecstasy you feel .... I do not have superlatives to congratulate this movie with his dream music ...

Love seagulls and this story... Came to listen after discovering this was the late singer Michael Jackson’s favorite book. Learning he was a phenomenal human being, and not the horrible one the world and media painted him to be.

I just bought a used Kay guitar from ebay made in 1979. It has on the pick guard two seagulls identical to the books cover. I found out with some research they even called it the "Jonathan Seagull" auditorium model. Maker must have been a fan of the book!

Makes me think of Eckhart Tolle's teachings. I always recall how i felt as a child when i watch this. Unconditioned mind. We're coming home again. Heaven is Here, Now. That is the point. Now is inside us all. Every single one of us .... because we are all One, of the One. No matter what words we use to conceptually describe it. Now is not a concept.

If our friendship depends on things like space and time, then when we finally overcome space and time, we've destroyed our own brotherhood! But overcome space, and all we have left is Here. Overcome time, and all we have left is Now. And in the middle of Here and Now, don't you think that we might see each other once or twice?
