Listening to Laura's father tell about his father and how they observed Sunday made me so grateful for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Prior to the coming of Jesus Christ and His Death and Resurrection; we were bound and condemned by the Law. Jesus Christ came to fulfill the law and be the pure sacrifice once and all for the atonement of sins for ALL mankind. Can you imagine being bound by a Law (that God did not ordain) where a child has to sit without moving for two hours listening to a sermon/lecture where they can not possibly sit still, much less understand a sermon! Can you imagine being bound by a law (that God did not ordain) that says you can not smile on Sunday?? Yes... we are supposed to observe Sunday and keep it Holy; in joyful worship of God, Jesus and Holy Spirit, and peaceful fellowship with each other. We are made righteous to God, not by struggling to keep laws but by acknowledging and accepting Jesus Christ into our hearts. ❤️🙏👏🙌

Yes, I agree but one thing about it children were much better behaved back then.

@kellyshomemadekitchen Yes...they were...but the true nature of mankind; no matter their age, historical place in time and era, has not changed! In some instances, there was punishment for children who could NOT sit perfectly still in church...even for adults who couldn't do it! The small children in my church congregation have Sunday School lessons, with visuals, crayons, coloring books and fun games where they can interactively learn about Jesus, and the wonderful stories of the Bible, with each other. They then have their own separate gathering under adult supervision, where they learn proper etiquette and conduct and how to respect the House of God as they grow old enough to sit with the adult congregation. 🙏❤️👍

@@narvelancoleman8597 You are right and I totally agree with you. I think a lot of the reasoning behind their expectations of children and adults both was leftover ideas from the Puritans which were very obviously overboard in their beliefs, especially about one’s behavior regardless of their age.
