Good thinking. I would also recommend using Shaperbox with audio triggering for s quick and ultra-precise sidechain.

Yeh it’s a great tool but honestly I still prefer DIY stuff inside Ableton

Yeah I've switched to Shaperbox's Multiband volume ducker - it's great to be able to modify the low, mid and high curves in one place. It's very clean with a MIDI trigger too.

bro make also a lil' fade at the end of the sound, to prevent clicks.

@@Letsynthesize btw i do this stuff at the end of the project after a classic sidechian in ableton, i export stems then pass'em in reaper, . In reaper u can apply cuts for every single transients, then bring those cuts on every stem u want, around 7 min of track with 10 stems needs around 1-2 min for do all, ever the export from reaper is fast like flash gordon. And! u can move all together the fades in a selected channel/s in all cuts u did, in ableton for do it manually is a big ass pain. Ableton proggers still suck on it:)) But! if u do the fades from beginning it's not a big deal, but often in a project u put new sounds after u finished it. Dunno maybe could be usefull.

So you are soloing the low band and then automating the volume of that parallel channel, as well as the whole track with utility? Making sure I’m understanding here Thanks

Exactly, except that I don’t solo the low band, but simply automate the level of it! 😊
