@@SortedFood suggestion: in future versions of this (which I hope are coming soon) maybe do a round 5 and 15 so it’s the difference of a tenner and you can judge a winner based on whether you’d spend the the extra tenner to get that resulting dish over the one costing a fiver.

This is like making a bald joke about someone who isn't bald. He thought the bottle was paid for, not 30p per randomly sized spoonful. No math errors involved. So to anyone who actually watched that episode, it just seems you want to twist the facts to blatantly force what you think is a "good" or "funny" joke, but it just comes off as a bit delusional and desperate to seem funny. Really what I want to say is: The "joke" goes so far out of it's way to FORCE it to try to be funny that it's actually annoying.

Little Tip on Jamie's Hashbrown: Keep the liquid you squeezed out of your potatoes and let it sit for 5-10 Minutes. The Potato Starch will set at the bottom. Discard the water carefully and add the starch back to the grated potatoes. This will make them crispier and they will hold their shape better.

Pass it on: Drunk edition Each member of the team takes 1 shot every 5 minutes until the end of their turn. (So each person will take one shot at the beginning of their time, and one halfway through. The others will also take shots until it's their time to cook.) The first person in the relay will therefore be sober, the last person will definitely not be... (Order: reverse alphabetical by first-name) Clarification: little 25ml English shots, not big ol American ones. NB. For the last guy it’ll just be the the same unit content as 4 175ml glasses of wine. Not wishing for paralytic, but def hilarious.

I really liked this one, it really highlights kind of the whole point of this channel. Where its not ALWAYS about what ingredients come from but how you use them or what basic chef skills you could learn to elevate even the simplest of dishes. James, for 2 pound 50 managing to get four plates is incredible, and really shows that doing simple things well can really push a plate above and beyond and really stretch that dollar as far as it can go which is great for anyone having to cook all the time with a budget in mind. I really hope they do more battles against the chefs like this in the future or with similar twists because it really highlights important things like learning certain techniques, knowing what you can do with different foods and also where its ok to spend a little extra on the quality of ingredients and where there really is no need.

Whenever someone does something really good or out of the box in these battles, they should make it into a small, straightforward recipe video! I know I can just go back and watch that part again, but I think people would like to see James doing a "Like a Chef" or "Level Up" video about those beans.

What type of dish? I would choose a pasta sauce. I once made fettuccine marinara that the adamant carnivore who ate it did not realize was vegetarian. He ate 3 servings before my BF told him there was no meat. Then he said "Well, my belly is happy so no complaints." It had mushrooms, onions, zucchini and red bell peppers and was accompanied by mozzarella garlic bread.

This brings back days. I learned to cook when I was in college with no budget at all. It makes you inventive with what you've got on ingredients. These days the fridge is filled, but I still do my best cooking the day before I do my groceries. These are the days I love most. Getting surprising meals on the table with bits and pieces.

I have a theory: I think the reason Jamie isn't winning as often is because he is an exceptional cook and the trained chefs expect more from him. I think Jamie is as close to an actual chef as a normal gets. The other normals, while lovely and talented, aren't on the same level.

I agree. Not to take anything away from the other normals as they're still really strong chefs these days, but Jamie seems to get the short end of the stick even with all the praise he gets. Its especially interesting since the two chefs always refer to him as never lacking flavor or being the one guy that is sure to include lots of flavors.

Historically, it's actually the opposite. Just check their Ultimate Battles' playlist. They were always biased towards Jamie in battles even when his dishes were the simplest, most average, or least creative. I don't remember in which videos the guys reference this or talk about it openly, but Mike and Barry used to always get pissed because Jamie always did the worst (in terms of food/idea and behaviour during battles) but won because Ben was easily impressed by him, 'sometimes simply for finishing his dish' 😂 PS. I thought Mike elevated himself into the 'cheffiest' of the normals during the quarantine videos and in the chef vs normal battles. Just my opinion.
