Rudaw English correspondent Robert Edwards was in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul when the US-Taliban peace process collapsed in September.
He and a team of Afghan filmmakers documented the hopes and fears of the city’s war-weary population, spoke to those involved in peace talks, and to those who will live with the consequences.
Now, as the peace process gets back on track, this new documentary and six-part written series explores a city anxious for peace - but terrified of the cost.

I didn’t know much about this glorious country untill I read Khaled Hosseini’s books and I totally fell in love with the peculiarity of Buzkashi the spicy flavour of naans and the discreet charm of its upper class. I wish I could come back to the 60’s to admire the Buddhas of Bamyan....

I hope that peace is brought to our beloved country, innocent people have been a scapegoat for more than 30 years. We are tired of the war, lost our families & friends. We will not sacrifice our women's rights for the so called peace by Taliban. Indeed we've to be optimistic for a better future and a peaceful life. Long live my wounded motherland.

US trained the Mujahideen, not the Taliban which in fact fought the government of the Mujahideen in 1992-1996. The Taliban eventually won the civil war and pushed the Mujahideen into the former Warlord dominions. The most unified and well-known being the Northern Alliance of Ahmad Shah Massoud, Lion of Panjshir, When The US toppled the Taliban with the help of the Northern Alliance in 2001. The current Afghan Islamic Republic was formed. A loya Jirga was called (partial some refused to attend) and Hamid Karzai was elected as the first President. This government functioned well but grew increasingly more corrupt until he was forced out by US Govt interest for not acquiescing to US wishes and re-engaging with the Taliban. Ghani was placed in the impossible position by successive US Admins (Obama, Trump, Biden) when they started to talk with the Taliban and refused to allow the Afghan Govt a spot at the table. This single action sent a signal not only to the Taliban that the US was finished in Afghanistan, but that every other regional player could come take a bite. Pakistan started to prepare along with its notorious ISI to invade Afghanistan in a proxy wat using the Taliban. The Taliban played the "we've changed" game, but a few nicer guys on Skype and viola, Taliban 2.0 was born, an entity created by Taliban PR and used by the US Govt and the media as a rating /voter boost. The Media gives the Taliban so much morale currently, it is shocking.

Not a true image of the Afghan nation. almost all characters interviewed in this video, they had/have their own logistics companies, construction companies, contracts, channels and bands. while they had nothing in 2001. They were the poorest and they were all fled for the atrocities they had done against the Afghan nation in 1991-1995 wars. Their main and essential fear is loosing their illegal wealth they gathered from US/NATO contracts. The Afghan nation whom are 30 million silence human beings are still in extreme, poverty, corruption, displacement, addiction, discrimination, immigration, illness, drugs, mafia, abduction, crimes, narcotics, illiteracy, chaos and distrust.

The despair and sadness.. End of the day it doesn't matter what the past is, if the Americans or the Russians or the Pakistanis are right or if it's all about religion, but that the people of Afgan could hope and dream to have a better life.

African tragedies have proven that you do not need advanced weaponry to be violent. People need to learn. People need to broaden their horizons. Just like they did when the Silk Road was the world's axis of knowledge and wealth from East to West.

Afghan government asked Russia for help and Russia sent the army to fight western backed terrorists which today called taliban and Pakistan's ISI. secondly 9/11 wasn't done by afghans
