Enjoy a full 50-minute documentary about Brazil's Mata Atlântica! 🇧🇷
📺 "Brazil - A natural History" Part 1: FRAGILE FOREST
This enigmatic forest once stretched along the coast for thousands of kilometres. Now there is only 7% left. Yet it is still home for many remarkable animals. Muriqui are the largest monkeys in South America. These very rare, highly social creatures greet each other with hugs - the closer the friendship, the more intense the hugs. Great dusky swifts fly through the tumbling waters of the mighty Iguaçu Falls to build their nests on the slippery rock faces behind the curtains of water. Coatis are curious looking creatures with their long flexible noses and banded tails, making them quite comical. But appearances can be deceptive, and coatis are efficient hunters. They are also very social, living in all-female gangs that are composed of sisters, mothers and aunts. The females support one another in their day-to-day lives, keeping a watch out for predators. Blue manakins are also social, but in a completely different way. In the depths of the forest, the males of these startlingly colourful birds work as a team to court a female. Like miniature circus performers they jump and bounce on a branch, one after the other, to excite their audience. Only the lead artist gets to carry out the last act.
Brazil is a land of gigantic proportions. Energetic, flamboyant and fun, Brazil is also overwhelmingly beautiful. Within its mountains, seas, rainforests, deserts and millions of miles of rivers, are many of our planet’s last wild frontiers. Its diversity of life and landscape is second to none. This landmark super blue chip series filmed in a cinematographic style using latest technology chronicles and introduces Brazil, a vast country the size of the USA or Europe respectively. Brazil is an Eldorado of wildlife, extreme habitats and stunning landscapes. The five programmes explore five very different and spectacular regions and their wildlife. In each episode, the viewer will be taken on a journey across fabulous landscapes and will meet carefully selected, charismatic and little-known animal species. The series investigates their fight for survival and their amazing adaptations to local environments. It will show behaviour that will surprise even avid nature-lovers.

100% agreement w/everyone. The issue is now entirely of worldwide proportions; effective, short and long term - sane - action is necessary...without furthering extinctions - and especially our own; God preserve what good reason that might possibly remain to us; wherever the hell that might miraculously be.

Having grown up in this region of Brazil, first off, let me give kudos to the outstanding cinematography. Also, I have been very blessed to visit many places on four continents, yet Iguaçú Falls is still ghe most stunning and awesome place I have ever been. I've seen the swifts flying through the falls. It is phenomenal to see their hidden lives caught on film. Incredible footage and narration of such a magical place. Bringd back lots of memories from childhood, now that decades of time and a continent away separate me from there. Superb documentary. Many thanks to all who helped make this film.

You surely forgot to mention what diseases the Europeans brought, what kind of labour they introduced here and the fact that this area was owned by local nations such as Tupinambá. Educate yourself.

yay for your ignorance. your ancestry is great and no one disputes it, what you miss, the point that evades you, is that Europeans placed your country on a WORLD MAP. your country was placed on an existing knowledge of the world. Indigenous people did not know where they were, what the world was or which way it turned. YOUR COUNTRY WAS DISCOVERED BY EUROPEANS, and they also had the written word and could record shit natives couldn;t, say in saying wake up to reality!!!

Hi @1231nlp! We appreciate your point, and we want to assure you that our intent is to celebrate the natural wonders and habitats across the globe, not to undervalue the importance and the agency of local cultures and their histories.

Great documentary. Buy why is Amazon Jungle discovered by the West?😂 Amazon Jungle has always been the habitat for the natives of Amazon. It is just like African reach Europe so they discovered Europe. 😂

Thank you for your insightful comments @GIZMO3380. We agree that the term 'discovery' can often neglect the fact that many regions were already inhabited by diverse cultures and societies long before Europeans arrived. The focus of this documentary is primarily on the remarkable natural history of Brazil's Mata Atlântica, acknowledging the forest's native flora, fauna, and their unique behaviours. However, we acknowledge and respect the rich history and the indigenous people of these lands who have been there for hundreds of years. Your feedback helps us be more aware in our language use, and for that, we are appreciative. Thanks for engaging with our content!
