Your autorotations are unbelievable! I must say, the technique where you swing the tail 180 deg just before touchdown certainly keeps the tail away from the ground.

You're the best pilot I've seen at performing autorotations, John. I wish I had someone to demonstrate techniques like this to me when I first become curious about these different types of autos many years ago. I'd really like you to make a video where you are describing at length your mindset/train of thought when you are doing these, perhaps narrating over some videos that you've already made. It would be a valuable resource to people who are trying to understand what's happening in an auto and what your thought process is during the manoeuvre. Many thanks.

Thank you , I’ve been thinking about it but I don’t feel ready ; I need some help with it

As a veteran helicopter pilot and instructor for many years, my hats off for John in performing these auto stunts, particularly it is a R22 which is always considered as an unforgiving ship. 🎉🎉🎉🎉

I am commercial pilot (although I mostly fly for fun/hobby). I practice autorotations for safety and proficiency, but John East does them as an art form. I am always amazed at how well he can maneuver the ship and land so precisely. I hope one day to be 1/2 as skillful as he is.

You are the master of autorotations, more please for the pleasure of an old and retired H pilot. Thank you !!!

John, you are absolutely insane. I would like to be able to understand a helicopter like you do. But one day I will come and visit you. Great video!

I'm so amazed with your skill...may I asked a question ...what could possible cause a sudden drop of both Engine and Rotor RPM while at cruise flight...altitude 1200 ft, A/s95k, 4 pax.with less fuel ..manifold at 22 InHG ..indication loss of power ..low rpm lighted and low rpm audio, both needles drop to Idle speed ...what do you caused this incident??thanks
@johneast32202 жыл бұрын
Hi , sorry for the delay. I’m not sure what would have caused that , possibly a magneto failure. I’m by no means an expert and my mechanical knowledge isn’t quite where I’d like it to be

Hello John. Have you ever decided teaching your autorotation skills? I know you said you aren’t ready and that you need help. What help would that be?
@johneast32202 ай бұрын
I could use some help with the teaching part , and I’d like to go learn autos with one of the Robinson test pilots.

Are the areas you fly in usually pretty close to sea level?
@johneast32202 жыл бұрын
Density altitude normally doesn’t exceed 3000 , but yes within a few hundred feet MSL on all these autos

@@johneast3220 I'm blown away at these autos. I've flown at DA's around 5000+ and I drop like a rock and there's so little room for error.

While others have nightmares about Autos ,you just dream about"em,,clearly is your play ground,, why do we need an engine after all.when you Master the Rotary Glider ,,,,,😎

I really 👌dream about autorotations too, and like that.

Hi John. Be great if you could do a greatest hits compilation of your R22 autos. Or if you have already send me the link 👍
@johneast32202 жыл бұрын
Hi , I think I’ve got one I posted a few days ago
@BenC20B2 жыл бұрын
@@johneast3220 I know the one and I enjoyed it. The commentary on what your doing is always interesting too. I was after like a 5 minute fast and furious edit of a whole heap of your favourite R22 videos you’ve taken…..reverse flares, night autos, on field, off field etc. Not necessarily showing each one from start to finish just a bunch of flares from different camera angles, some of the more exciting entries or turns etc. It would just be nice to have something like that I could direct people to who are interested in what can be done in a 22 in terms of autos so it’s a pretty selfish reason I guess.

Every time you pedal turn near the ground, I worry that you're going to catch a skid and dynamically roll over. Maybe the camera is making me think you're lower than you really are. Good luck!
@johneast3220Ай бұрын
Yessir , it could certainly happen. I think the skids are high enough that something would have to be sticking up to catch your skid , I’ve never felt like I was going to stick it in the ground.
