That poor bride with Cruella de Ville for a mum and a jealous sister at her appointment. As far as putting a bride in the basement to try on gowns is beyond appalling. All the brides looked stunningly beautiful. Jo and Al are the best..

@@glancycorner7425 went with my mother and sister one day, then left them home and went with my Daddy because I knew he wouldn't criticize, I wanted something very simple and M&S were pulling crazy dresses with puffy sleeves, tons of lace (1980), Daddy & I chose a dress together, empire waist, a-line fitted just the tiniest flare as it went down, very tiniest, sleeveless and a bit of cotton lace around rounded neck, not quite sweetheart neck. Was such a nicer experience with my Daddy - my sister actually wanted me to wear her dress, I hated her dress, never told her that, I wouldn't but no way was I wearing her dress. I threatened my mother if she didn't back off I'd wear jeans and a t-shirt 😁

I love these 2 English ladies. They're so kind, wise and attractive. They really do want to help the women that come to their shop. I like the way the English people treat their women with respect.

With these "close" family members for critics, who needs enemies? I will never, never, never understand people like that. They seem not to have any concern for Niki's feelings at all. I'm glad they FINALLY liked a gown I just think they things they said had to have been hurtful to Niki. I love Jo and Al and how they treat ladies and help each one find the perfect gown for her! I am not overweight and have been married twice in my life (I'm 74 and a widow now) but I never had a wedding gown. It must be a magical experience.

Kathleen, maybe you should make a bridal appointment, grab a girlfriend, and go play bridal gown dress-up! It doesn't matter one bit that you are 74. Go have some fun, and see what it is like to put on some of these gowns!

Niki looked lovely in all the dresses but the last one was made just for her. I had a mother like Niki and I didn't include her in any of the wedding plans because I knew how she would react. She was lucky I sent her an invitation.

Hah, I know that problem. My mother said "if you get married in shorts, I'm not coming to the wedding" and I said "fine, suit yourself", and of course she came to the wedding. For the free grub.

I'll be honest - I am 5'9 and have fluctuated between 125 - 145 pounds my whole life. I didn't have a weight issue. However, in 2010 I was forced by my (then) domineering mother into a dress I HATED (I didn't have the boundaries then to say "NO") ... so watching these beautiful women have their bridal moments with Al and Jo - and the sheer happiness of their feeling BEAUTIFUL and bridal... well, I am living vicariously!!

I know what you mean. I've been doing "Jo&Al therapy" for the last two years watching episode after episode and you know what? I've never been this big in my life (I have alteady started to change lifestyle and diet) AND I've never been this confident, radiant and beautiful, because I have imbibed Jo's and Al's wisdom. It's like a healthy brainwash. You will get there in the end. Just keep watching 😁

In addition to the wonderful support and service that Jo and Al provide for the brides, I'd just like to comment on the wonderful job that the makeup artists do for each of these brides. After watching reality shows where part of the production is showing the subjects to be flawed just to gain laughs it is so refreshing to watch the positivity that this shows engenders in every aspect.

The mother and sister need some attitude adjustments. They are awful to the Bride and Karma will get them one day. There's honesty and then there is cruelty and I don't think that those two know the difference. Jo and Al are miracle workers for sure.

I've watched this episode many times over the years....what unsopportive and mean relatives, mother and sister no less! The stuff of Disney villains, no doubt. I sympathise with this poor bride! I find comfort in the fact that their despicable comments will survive online to haunt these two women them forever.

Jo and AL are doing so much to dismantle the isolation barrier for plus size women and brides. (A barrier that shouldn't have been there in the first place.) Curvy Brides is a milestone for women who have been marginalized but who are now joining the mainstream.

I can relate to the bridal shops that would not even let a plus size girl try on. I wish there was a Jo and Al near me 35 yrs ago. I not only had shops not even have me even try on items they could order in my size but had one tell me that she never heard of any bridal designer make wedding gowns larger than 16/18. I ended up going to a place that usually does customs and they had 3 in larger sizes that were cancellations.

Even with the strongest minded entourage, when they see the emotion changed in the face of the bride to be, they change totally their attitude. They are real happy and don’t spill something bad about the dress…
