It's so easy to fake profiles. I became a 35 year old man from Alberta Canada, and uploaded any photo of a Welsh child killer, all on Fakebook. I did this so I could send photos of him marrying a little boy, to everyone who knew my housemate paedophile, including his children. It worked and it proved Zuckerberg was a liar when he stated all his profiles are authentic.

Exactly! I don’t think it helps to shame lonely people who are scammed. I don’t have millions of dollars to lose, but I would be sick and humiliated if I did. I admire her for speaking out to help others. I would be too embarrassed to tell people. Also, people are very critical. A woman I worked for was scammed, but not to this degree! I was afraid she might do something to herself because people were not empathetic. She was divorced and so lonely. A perfect victim. She also said she felt like a teenager again. Who wouldn’t want to feel that way and I’m married! Spreading information is good. Please be kind to these men and women.

I flew home a few days ago and there was a woman at the airport that had flown in from Texas days before. She had been staying at the airport for days waiting for the man she had never met to be released from a private hospital or for friends he would send to pick her up. She had sent him money over a period of several months and had flown in to take care of him when he finally got out of the hospital. She said he had no siblings and his parents had passed so he was alone, she was all he had. I told her there was a very good chance she was being scammed... after I retrieved my luggage and went back outside she was gone. I do hope she is safe and has since returned home.

Exactly. My husband died 4 & a years ago. I was surprised that men, a lot were Army, or some type of service. I left my profile as married, pictures show that I'm elderly & they start telling me how beautiful I am, (I know I'm not) what a beautiful smile I have..ect.. They tell me to send them friend request. ( i don't) Couple just flat out ask if I can still send them Google play cards or phone cards. (I CERTAINLY do not) At first I was upset & wondered how they can get on my Facebook page without my permission or sent request..but now I know they can manage that, I've been told/ explained to me but now I don't remember..( remember I'm old..lol.) I do have money in a savings account from selling my home when my husband died, & as I say often, nobody is going to get any of that money except myself, my 2 sons & 3 granddaughters. My sister (she 75 yrs old but don't act or look it ) & I like to shop sometimes once a week & eat lunch & just have fun acting like we have good sense.

The woman in the first story needs psychological help. She’s got journals of conversations but has never insisted on meeting him in 2 years? She’s saying she’s a smart woman but actions speak louder than words. I think she’s lying about him saying he wanted to keep things going. If she was my mother, I’d be advocating for her not to go out by herself or use the Internet without supervision. The second woman doesn’t have time to FaceTime but has time to send nice photos and videos?

I agree. The windows/widowers, who where in long marriages….need grief counseling and also someone to educate them about the tactics the scammers are going to use…BEFORE they ever decide to go on a dating site. They’re lonely and vulnerable! I’ve been twice. First time when I was young (19), second time married for 37 years. Maybe one reason I’m not buying into what scammers spew out is because I divorced both of those men. I’m not lonely or needing a man.

You’d be surprised how many women fall for this as well and keep sending money as the scammer claims they’re living in poverty in Nigeria. Meanwhile they drive luxury cars & live in extravagant homes.

In the UK, it happened when social security payments ceased to be considered something that you only turn to in times when you have no other option, and became an acceptable way of life generally. I am fully in support of the welfare state, especially looking back on times when children would starve. But honestly? I've been fleeced by partners only too happy to be completely inactive. There's an old-fashioned joke about marriage, "making a decent woman of her" -- but if you really look at it, a "kept woman" had no choice ... they were either not allowed to work at all, or only in certain limited circumstances. Just watch out for parasites.

Luckily my mom kept me in the loop, and when he asked for money I said hell no. She didn’t give him any money and he quit talking to her. My husband works for a grocery store and they have Western Union and he said lots of elderly women come in and want to send money overseas. They will refuse to send the money if the women sending it doesn’t know the person and have not met the person. The women get so mad when they refuse to send the money, but the grocery stores are trying to prevent the money being sent. Great show. ☀️

Yes, I used to work in customer service and I processed Western Union transactions. As my position required online training for Western Union transactions, I learned that as well, to prevent theft and money laundering. This one particular woman started coming in to send $200 to Nigeria, about twice a month, so I asked her what the purpose of the transaction was and she said: I can do what I want with my money and asked to speak to my manager who allowed it. So, moral of the story, you can’t help someone who doesn’t want help.

My mom taught me something about dating and it has helped me TREMENDOUSLY I hope that whoever's reading this will take the advice. A man should NEVER ask a woman for money (esp. so b/c he's NOT her husband and that should be limited b/c he suppose to be the provider). Be it a big or small amount, he should NEVER fix his lips to ask YOU. If he has to borrow it from his momma, a friend, or a bank, if he's trying to impress you and win you over, asking for YOUR money should be the last thing on his list. (This is a Red Flag ladies).

Don't trust everything you hear nor see, trust what you KNOW and what you know is all in the "Data Collection" files. Amazes me that a scammer would reveal his face and true name. I appreciate this woman sharing her story but how could she be so insanely blind?

I'm glad she was brave enough to come on TV to put herself in possible ridicule from the society. It always seems impossible when you are dissattached from the situation, to do so many things. But it does make me a bit worried that she was an intelligence officer. I don't know the ins and outs of her job but.. agh I don't know. Stay safe out there surfers

I've been catfished on Facebook too many times. I found that if I use a photo of my husband and I together they stopped. I've had more than one message from a "military man". I hope a lot of women will stay safe because of this.

Paradoxically women seem incapable of being both and that's nothing to brag about. Perhaps the proceeding female generations need to elevate their daughters, instead of subjugating them.
