I have 2 tips to share. Using a lash curler actually really helps. I don't mess with false lashes, but taking the time to crimp my lashes does actually make my eyes look more awake. Second, ever since I turned 40, I've been noticing a decreased volume in my lips. I have no interest in lip filler so I've been playing with slightly overlining the top of my Cupid's bow, and it really does give the illusion of fullness. Makes me feel like I have juicy young lips again!😄

I don't know if it's my eye shape or if my lash curler isn't right for my eyes but I always seem to pinch the skin by my nose. So I rarely curl my lashes.

@@SarahK86 I used to think it was my eye shape but there are actually so many different shapes of eye curlers out there. I know the Revlon one at the drugstore is the worst one for me With my small eyes I need to use either Shiseido or surratt. I know Emily likes the tweezerman one. You just have to find one that works for you

I got Tweezerman when EMILY was using it but when she started using Shishedo I got that one and it is good. Try using that one and I bet you don’t pinch yourself anymore. I used to pinch my eye lid with the Revlon one.

@@SarahK86 tweezerman makes curlers for different eye shapes. I have round eyes so most curlers don't catch all my lashes but the tweezerman one for round eyes works awesome.

Something I found years ago, is do your lips first. If I do blush first I find I apply too much. But if I do lips first then it's easier to get the right amount of blush. 'Cause we all know how difficult it is to remove blush if applied to heavily! Love to you and yours!❤

Wow, that is such a great idea seeing as sometimes I feel that the blush I used doesn't go with the lip I chose or the blush is too much after applying the lip color, I'm gonna have to try this!

I hear ya with the teachers, my 9 year old has lucked out with all his so far. We just had parent/ teacher conference on Thursday and I was so happy to hear that my little guy is always eager to help others when he sees them struggling with something. Depending on the eye look I'm going for I will take your matching your blush and lip a step further by incorporating the blush into the eye. A touch of the same shade blending out the crease makes a much more integrated look! Xx

an afternoon brow refresh is KEY 🔑 My tip- I put on benefit Benetint during my skincare, let it set, pop on lip balm. I feel like having that little blush of color under whatever lip product I end up wearing is just a bit enhanced, if it wears off it’s not as stark.

For me, my best tip is always less is more. I wear a relatively small amount of makeup day to day, so when I have a special occasion I feel like I need to do a “full face” and I always end up feeling overdone. I feel like the best version of myself with a light hand

If anyone has down turned eyes or eyes that are hollow toward the outer corner using a brightening color corrector at the outer corner gives the eyes a lift and helps disguise hollowness. I have both. It's hard to explain but if you have it you know what I'm talking about. From the lower lash line up to my brow tail I have a hollow which emphasizes the down turn of my eyes. Anyway I got this tio from Jen Phelps and it's amazing how much difference it makes.

Thanks for these great tips Em and what a fun video, as always! I love to hear the door open knowing a kitten has entered the scene. One tip that I find always makes a difference for me is taking a small brush and swooping in an upward motion some lighter powder that has a bit of coverage at the outer corner of my eye. It cleans up the edges of my shadow and gives a mini eye lift. Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Awesome video! Pretty look!! One tip I learned from Makeup by Sarah for helping the under eye concealer to not crease even with setting powder is to very lightly mist a setting spray on a fluffy eyeshadow brush and tap it on the under eye area. I think it makes a big difference on my 69 yr old skin.

I recently watched a foundation tutorial and was reminded of a tip that I think originally came from Wayne Goss: after primer (if you use one) apply a loose powder then a setting spray before foundation. It was actually shown on mature skin and WOW. It works for me, my foundation, even the ones I already loved, look even better! I use less, if any, powder to set my makeup and it stays all day.

I have dry skin. I found when I tried that it just didn't work and I used a little. It dried me out and pretty much erased my skin care underneath. Maybe I will try a different powder.

@@sandybowers5085, I said JUST THAT on another comment today and it is just that! But, if you have oily skin, it does work. It's also counterintuitive that there are 60 year olds with oily skin but we exist. Add in when you live in a very humid clime. fighting against looking greasy is a constant battle. @@theresas2520 I used a loose powder and very little (Loreal Hydra Perfect ❤️). I think the key is make sure skincare is fully absorbed which I do anyway bc I wait for my sunscreen to dry/absorb - I think 15 minutes is the recommended time but I can't always wait that long - even 5 to 10 minutes works for me. Then let the setting spray (I've tried it with Mac Fix Plus and the Believe Beauty Setting spray) completely dry too. I do my eyebrows which is sufficient time. Like everything else, though, what works for some doesn't work for others! I do think product mix is key so play around with it if you want to - or skip it. I find it easy to work into my routine but if I didn't I'd just do whatever worked for me!

Love the concept of this video. My tips to elevate my make-up are: 1: After powdering & contouring, I go back in with my powder brush & buff over all the contour. It makes everything melt together better & erases any harsh lines. 2. Similar, but I always brush through my brows after filling them in for the same reasons. 3. A brown or black eyeliner in the top waterline only makes the lashes appear thicker. Use an eyeliner that doesn't transfer to the bottom. 4. When I need to elevate my eye makeup I simply use more shades. For example on a daily basis I may use 3 brown shades on my eye, on an elevated day I will use 6 or 7 brown shades. Adds more depth, looks more professional. 5. A shimmery, champange sort of colour on the lid is so quick & easy yet takes it to the next level. 6. Lipgloss. Everyone should wear lipgloss. It looks good on everyone. It makes your lips look healthy & youthful. Even when I'm not wearing makeup, lip gloss or a tinted lip balm, always. 7. I always incorporate my blush and/or my contour into other areas of the face. For example I may put my contour shade in the crease of my eye, & I may put some blush on the top of my forehead & chin. It seems to create a more natural & believable look when the shade is appearing in multiple places on the face, not just striped onto the cheek. Looks more cohesive.

An empathetic child who helps others has that inside them but it’s also nurtured by the parents Emily I honestly feel that you are raising wonderful children my 30 year old son who has struggled since age 10 with mental health issues anxiety depression even sometimes anger issues came to me the other night and said I have finally come to the conclusion mom that all that matters in life is to be kind he can’t hold a job too well he tries very hard to do some GrubHub at night he has a girlfriend he loves and who loves him and his whole entire life has been an uphill struggle but that conversation made me so happy

Something I often recommend is keeping shadow or liner away from the lower lashline. The bare bottom lashline can look fresher, cleaner and more youthful. Bonus - no smudging! Also, applying mascara with each hand (left hand - left eye and right hand - right eye) will ensure a mirrored application, otherwise the angle of the brush is different and that can position the lashes differently from left to right.

*Corrector* . I have always had dark under eye circles, a peach corrector has been a game changer. Also, now that I am 55, I notice the the broken capillaries especially around the nose, green corrector to the rescue. You are absolutely right on the tones of blush and lip product coordinating. It definitely adds to a more elevated look.

My dark circles arent that dark, but sometimes concealer isnt enough. I dont have a corrector so i put an illuminator instead before going in with my concealer. Really helps brighten and makes the light bounce off my circles really nicely! Learned this from a pro!

Hi Em! Love this video. I personally amplified my look with the peach under eye corrector in conjunction with my regular under eye concealers. I love learning makeup tips from you. Love it when your door opens but there is nobody visible lol!! Then we will see our four legged friend 🐾. I think that is so sweet for Belle at her school. Love you Em! 💜💜🐾🐾💄💄🍁🎃🎃🎃

That’s wonderful that your daughter got a shout out over the announcement. What a proud moment. Thanks for doing this video because sometimes I forget why my makeup looks better some days then others. I to was going to mention that about when your filming and the kitten comes into the room it’s almost like the ghost 👻 entering the room. I don’t either think about the lipstick 💄 matching my blush.

I use s heated eyelash curler first.. then I use the manual one.. works great... like hot rollers for your lashes

What a great tip, to coordinate blush ad lips. We’re on a ship, but can’t wait to use that tip when we are at home(I bring only one blush while traveling but several lip choices - maybe use a lippie on the cheeks?) Thanks, Emily!

Hi Emily! I love how original your video ideas are. I see content on your channel that I don't see anywhere else. Used a few of your tips today. The one about the lip liner reminded me of something I've been meaning to ask you for a while. I would love to hear your recommendations for a lip liner capsule wardrobe - 3 or 4 lip liners that will coordinate with lots of different lipsticks. I bought the Revlon Colorstay one in nude and you're right, it works with so many lipsticks in the nude/neutral family. What else do you always pull out?

One of the best tips that I've gotten from you about doing my brows was to take my eyebrow gel and Sweet my brows down first and then sweep them back up and then in the direction I want them so that the brows are actually coated with the brownfix. It's been a game changer as far as keeping my brows in place. So thank you ❤️

I’ve started using the cover girl lash blast (I think it’s called) lash primer, the one in the whole tube. It does so much for my lashes! It make me love my fav mascara even more! Definitely worth the extra time to apply P.s: this was a recommendation from you from a video of tips from other viewers 😁 awesome video!
