Just looked like somebody who knew what he was doing against someone who didn't. But yeah. The best fighters use one threat to create another threat, which leads to another threat, and so on, until the final stoppage. Nurmagamedov (sp?) does the same sort of thing with his ground and pound. The opponent puts himself in worse and worse situations to get out of the bad situation from before. What's impressive is how these better fighters shift their attacks seamlessly in response.

@@harrymills2770 I thought they both knew what they were doing. The defenses were there, many fighters before him would have fallen earlier. Ed Ruth was great here, but Gracie was on another level.

Damn good fight. Insane scrambles and grappling exchanges. The classic wrestling vs bjj. This is when cardio can dictate the winner, as it did in this fight imo. Not taking anything from either guy bc that was a war

Altough I am brazilian, I'd like to give my applause to Ed Ruth that was a real warrior in this fight. Both fighters seemed kinda insecure and raw while standing, and lost many openings. Maybe it's lack of experience or training. Nice fight, looking forward to watch them fight again.

I'm just amazed that he didn't jump on gracie in the beginning I'm really falling in love with jiu jitsu just seeing and being in so many street fights as a youngster being on your back means your losing or already lost but in jiu jitsu it's welcomed 😳 Unit 2 fitness in Atlanta here i come

Que lutassa!!! O wrestler sobreviveu a varias situações de desvantagem, mas no final prevaleceu a técnica afiada contra a maior deficiência do wrestler, que é quando está com as.costas no chão.

That was a clean transition from a scramble to high guard to set up a triangle on one side to then pummel his arm in to set up the triangle on the other side.... he did all of that with never once letting his shoulders or ass ever really touch the ground... great work

@@MrWeez12345 after the first take down he almost got submitted almost immediately...Ruth had 6 knockouts out of his 7 wins, Gracie had 8 submission wins out of his 9 wins... he was doing better on the feet so why would he want to grapple against a life long jujitsu practitioner. And as you can see he lost on the ground. So please explain to me why he should have taken him down again?

gaming Roy McDonald is way more qualified on the ground than ruth is... Roy McDonald has way more experience in jujitsu. And you can tell based on the results

Make Me Famous Subscribe he clearly was out classed on the ground and also clearly lost my comment was only to point out that although Ruth had 6 knockouts out of 7 victories at the time, he is no stranger to being in a grappling match and I’m sure he feels comfortable being there due to his history as a NCAA wrestling champion. No argument from me that he should have stayed on his feet as his best chance to win.

Tem que melhorar o gás, tem que afiar o boxe e parar de achar que está num campeonato de Jiu Jitsu. Tem que criar estratégias e ser mais imprevisível. O elemento surpresa,faz toda a diferença.
