Not always been David Haye's biggest fan, but he provides excitement and what a post fight interview. Brave beyond the call of duty. Didn't need to do that, he probably knew it was over and he held it together. Brilliant. I think Bellew would admit in Haye's prime, he'd not have produced that dominant display, Haye was a wrecking machine. But so pleased for Tony, and massive respect to Haye

You're on point on everything you said. I'm not the biggest Haye fan either, but Bellew couldn't really deal with him nor catch him in the first two rounds, and thats a shell of David Haye. I think that in his prime he would have taken Bellew out with ease.

Forget the corny ass fans, Carl Froch and Paulie both noticed the limp, i think you Bellew fans are the ones blind, yeah Bellew won woop de doo but lets keep it real Haye was on a limp the whole time, if you casuals know anything about Boxing the power is transfered from the leg behind your front foot, you cannot get leverage on your right hand if your back leg is shot you can have all the speed and movement in the world but you wont have no sting in those punches, you basically have no balance whatsoever on your stance hence why Haye only had a jab in his arsenal but had no mustard on th right hand. Haye at 100% Bodies Bellew easy! Haye was never hurt once in both fights, off balance the whole time with every knock down standing on one leg practically lmao.. Yall all hyped over a win over a shot fighter. The only thing that Bellew won on is time, wear and tear of a shot fighter, nothing to be bragging about really.

@@devnull08 bully is a strong word mate. who did he 'bully' then? Because to me he seemed a bit depressed, which could've been the reason he went on the show. Just because he's stern and can lose control of his anger at times, doesn't automatically make him a bully or 'horrible' or anything, he actually seems like the type of person who defends himself against the bullies. Notice the first two knockdowns, his right knee gave out. Then when he tried to stand on it, he winced in pain. Then limped back to corner. I think he kept it a secret to give Bellew the credit. Or to avoid the public backlash in light of toe, pulling out so many times, coming in injured other nights. Looks like a torn meniscus.

Maybe he was still injured but generally to me he looks old and faded. The definition in his muscles is nowhere near where it was when he won the HW title from Valuev or when he fought Klitschko in his early 30s, or even when he fought Chisora, he looks much softer, fleshier, his balance is bad, the speed isn't there anymore, he just looks like the guy pushing 40 that he is. During his better days he talked too much and pulled out of fights too much, in the end he didn't have the big fights that he could have had, fighting Vitali Klitschko or Tyson Fury at a time where he had at least a small chance of beating a true heavyweight champion.

After that first fight I knew there and then Haye was finished. He was NOTHING like his former self, no speed, no power, no timing, no punch resistance.. He was done. The injuries well and truly took a toll on his body. When this fight was initially made it was laughable to think Bellew could even last a few rounds with Haye, it’s such a shame that Haye had to end his career losing to a guy he would of likely destroyed in his prime. I had a similar feeling watching Tyson. He was so far past it when he fought Holyfield not to mention Lewis. Having watched countless thousands of hours at his best and to see him so one dimensional post prison was heartbreaking. Seeing Haye with no sharpness, no balance, agility and no power was a bit sad also. Although Haye was no Tyson, he was still a fantastic fighter with great attributes at his best but it happens to us all, we get older, then we get old. Boxing is a young fit dedicated mans game.

Steve Bunce also made a great point about Haye, as he'd followed Haye's progression since the amateurs. He said Haye would regularly train with meatheads (bodybuilder types) to look the part, or cross train MMA for "fun". The problem is all that strained his body, especially when you add in the massive toll being a professional boxer takes. Essentially he broke his body down.
@Daveymallon
@Daveymallon 4 жыл бұрын
iorekby yeah I guess we should’ve seen the writing on the wall with the Fury pullouts. His body was not designed to have more size than his frame could handle. IMO it was a blessing in disguise not fighting fury. At the time I thought Haye would have the power to beat fury but what I didn’t know and no one really did at the time was just how good and how tough physically and mentally fury is. He would’ve crushed Haye. Haye now understands that too as can be seen in his post Fury v Wilder interview. He was good little guy but we all know the saying.

@@H.K.5 That might be the dumbest comment I've ever seen on a boxing video. Yeah, let your opponent know you have an injury in a combat sport that wouldn't be a dumb thing to do. Let Bellew know that you have an injured foot so he can force you to do more moving around the ring, and force you on to your bad side and can work you at distance knowing you can't come in with as much speed as normal, then press forward when you try to back off knowing you can't retreat as quick.

@John Rock like you quoted, styles make fights, a slowed down haye style was no match for tony bellews style. I'm unsure on how I have no logic. Your logic is putting Bellew in a lose lose situation, if he loses hes no match for the haye maker if he wins it's only because haye was old and Injured. Regardless what haye said he was going to do to Bellew was 100% wrong.

Kind of unfortunate that Bellew career is over. With regard to promoting fights. I think you’re either really good at it or you’re bad at it. He is absolutely brilliant at it because even though a part of me knows that it’s promoting the fight and it’s probably a bit of theatrics I never felt that he was acting or playing a part. The really good self promoters will appear to have genuine hate for their opponent but then backstage be laughing it up with him. Tony was great at it, one of the best.
