I understand edey shot a lot of free throws, but at the end of the day this guy averages like 23 points on 60% shooting and has been unstoppable in March madness. Of course they’re gonna play hard defense and foul him, it’s the only thing you can do against him. Tennessee doesn’t have a guy who can play actual defense on Zach edey, or else they wouldn’t need to foul

(Not that it would have changed the outcome of the game, but I wonder about Rick Barnes) When Tennessee was ahead 32-21 and Purdue calls a time out: Barnes may have told his players something like: "Purdue KNOWS they are down by 11 and we have to make adjustments." or Barnes may have said "Just keep on doing what you're doing. We're playing great." Perhaps, any of the players could have said either of the above. Whatever, the result was not so good for Tennessee, as Purdue scored 13 straight points, before Knecht dunked to tie the score, and the TV score at the bottom of the screen accidentally credited Purdue 2 points!!

To the people complaining about FT disparity, go look at a shot chart. Purdue - a lot of inside shots. TN - not a lot of inside shots. Where do most fouls happen? Around the rim. Why doesn’t Edey get called for many fouls? He doesn’t hack. Hands straight vertical 90% of the time. What do opposing teams do to Edey? Swipe, hack and push. Teams that attempt more shots in the paint, tend to take more FT’s. It’s that simple, but smooth brains want to look at a box score and blame the refs. Smh

@@Pizmos Hardly just Tennessee fans who think this. It was trending on twitter, not everyone was a Vol fan. Same can be said about Purdue fans, they'll never admit when something is questionable when it's their team. You take what you can get and justify it. Having your hands on someone as a defender isn't a foul.

@@smithyamiami From my perspective, both teams played with the same level of physicality, but Purdue shot 33 free throws and TN shot 11. That is a crazy difference, and did not reflect the game I watched. Admittedly, I ref HS games, so I see it with a certain eye. It also is hard to second guess refs who are right there. But 11 to 33 says that my statement is accurate. If you honestly believe that TN got away with a lot of fouls, and this was a fairly called game you are not being objective IMHO.

@@thecellulontriptometer4166 Just because two teams are playing with the same physicality, does not mean that both teams will end up with nearly the same number of free throws. Fouls are mostly called when the offending team crosses a line with their physicality. Tenn had no answer for Edey and took chances to win the game. Unfortunately, it did not work as the officials caught Tenn crossing the line too many times. 33-11 is large difference, but it is not an official's job to keep score of fouls, and even them out. It's to keep the game fair by enforcing the rules.

Edey got fouled about every time he got the ball, as far as a the rule book defines a foul, but his size and ability to absorb contact makes you think it’s not a foul. If Edey did what was done to him, it would be obvious and he would foul out 5 times down the court defensively. Kineict sure got a fair share of questionable foul calls as well. If anything, the refs were not “letting them play” if you’re looking for a more finesse, high scoring game.

Again, bad officiating and really bad commentators. Cause, really? Too of the all tile best performances cause both teams have players scoring over 30 points? How would their performances rate against Bill Walton 21-22 shooting in the finals? Just one of fifty examples! Gotta developed a program to automatically mute commentary. That’s why I owed watching Dream Tram Olympic performances, no commentary, just pure basketball and you can hear the sound of the basketball during dribbles, shot off the rims, etc.
