They don't attend the Russian General staff meetings so u shouldn't put too much stock at what their saying. All their saying are pure speculations being caught on the tactical "minutiae" side of things as Andrei Matrenov says. Best thing for us spectators to do is simply wait, cause in general the moment the SMO started Russia was never going to lose in the first place

Some think the Wagners are moving too slow. to capture more Ukrainian troops. Maybe the Russians feel like the Bakhmut meat grinder has pretty much fulfilled its mission. And they will set up more meatgrinders along the new way towards the Dneiper River.

A good guest and source on Soloviev Russian television said that Russians forces had increased to holding two-thirds of Marynka as of last evening Moscow time, which Druzhby Avenue pushed to the end and fighting now just beyond it. He said optimism is now back along with initiative and that they might now be given the greater emphasis for a push rather than Ugledar getting it, adding that they are seen as two sides of the same coin and one will be used as the staging area to achieve ultimate success in the other. My Russian is new and growing weekly but not anything like fluent or native-speaking level, so I make out what I can

Heh... some of the more partisan "media" last week had started shifting their expectations back to "Russians can't take Bakhmut or even enter Ivanivske". Curious what their views are now. Seems most Western media focus on the Zaporizhzhia & southern Donetsk fronts vs anywhere else. And Crimea of course, always about Crimea.

Totally agree with this, Russian army should surprise by high speed micro offensive on pincers or paratroopers ops, something unusual, they are too predictable and slow for now to make major victories against Ukrainians. This grind war will last for years. At this point maybe better just wait Ukrainians total lack of ammo for the Russians than doing useless&costly attacks like in Vuhledar.
@DeadWayfes
@DeadWayfes Жыл бұрын
For that they need to retreat. When they keep sending units and most of their original forces are replacements now that means the meat grinder is real. Now, take into account that they cant retreat efficiently now, with no actual big roads to go and 2 smaller country roads are all thats left. Ruskies know this and are putting pressure. Look into north of bakhmut. They are almost encircling paraslovivka. 2km between the ruskies cutting them off and only 1 small road within 300m of russian positions to retreat OR cross the fields... not a good situation for the 1-2k men that are there
@psalmno.51
@psalmno.51 Жыл бұрын
If I might make a second observation... until Russia begins it's much delayed Winter offensive, it serves them well to maintain Bakhmut as a meat grinder. To be fair, I haven't expected Bakhmut to be taken yet, as Russia would have to establish another situation or city as a meat grinder, and that's risky. Clearly, it gives others the impression of a ponderous attack and even a further expression of incompetence. But, as a meat grinder, it's perfect...

I think its safe to say it is not Zelensky controlling any part of Ukrainian Gov or Military but London and DC doing so. We all know that people are careless and not responsible when we do not have skin in the game and are spending other peoples money (debt) or in this case Money/People, so I really think London and DC do not care about this loss while Russia does have skin in the game and their own money/people. Russia is all in when it comes to confronting those two. They tried to makes friends with America many times but we said no every time since the American Civil War.
@JPJ432

On a side note it was Russia who saved America during the Civil war as they sent their Navy to San Francisco and New York when England and France were just about to enter the war on the side of the Confederates since London created the Confederates. Tsar Alexander wrote a letter to Queen Victoria saying “If you enter this war it will be a casus belli for all out war with the Russian Empire”.

The problem with being online is the temporal difference always gets you. I wonder if Russia is going to time their offensive with Ukr's or just afterwards as their own forces are forced back, they punch out and behind Ukr's centers of gravity. They're keeping everyone on their toes by not saying a thing.
@theprinceofcrows8691

I have been wondering if that is part of the plan myself. Much like how the Operation Bagration offensive followed the failed German Operation Citadel at Kursk. That would be keeping with old STAVKA thinking and would make sense considering the large groupings of Russian troops in Belgorod and Belarus would unleash havoc on the AFU that way. They also have 40,000 troops in Mariupol at the moment too and they have been there for about a week or so. They would be enough to stop any offensive operations the AFU tried to pull in the South when paired with the other forces in defense there already. Any counterattack will not go well for the AFU anyway now that they don't have the numerical advantage they held to tie down reserves like they had in the fall. Russia also has proper defense lines built up to prevent them from rushing forward and getting inside the artillery field of fire like they did in the pickup truck offensive they pulled earlier. So that is why I think it makes sense for them to do that and not attack in scale until the AFU tried to counter attack in some sort of offensive operation. So I am torn between thinking they will do a small phased early offensive in Donbass and follow up the next major Ukronazi counterattack with a full unleashing of the rest of their forces in the next month or two and thinking it will begin in earnest in March sometime on it's own initiative. I bounce between those two lines of thought too.

@@theprinceofcrows8691 Bagration was a year after Citadel, starting in late June 44. I think you must be referring to the two offensive operations of July 43 -Kutuzov (concentrated on Army Group Centre to the North of the Kursk Salient) and Rumyantsev (concentrated on Army Group South to the south Kursk salient). Bagration didn't follow or counter any German offensive. It coincided with the fighting in Normandy.

In a sea of bias, I love the clarity and crispness of your videos. One favor to ask: could you list Wagner if it is Wagner doing the fighting? It's my understanding that they are the *only* combat troops for 50 kms along the Bakhmut front, so let's give credit where it is due. There may be some DPR guys helping with supply or logistics but they aren't doing any fighting. So saying "Russian forces" isn't necessarily accurate if we are only talking about Prighozin's men.
@simnobody
@simnobody Жыл бұрын
they are all 'Russian forces' - 'Wagner' is assault groups of RU military modeled roughly after French Foreign Legion. Same relaxed recruiting (allowing potential foreigners to join which is not possible with cadre RU military), same potential forgiveness of certain limited trespasses against the state upon completion of service, same potential path to citizenship after service. Better and heavier equipment, better tactics, much tighter operational control on the field. Hardly 'mercenaries' (the ONLY employer is RU General Staff, the only paymaster is RU General Staff), and absolutely not 'penal units' :). Same for DPR - up until a year ago they were their own force (supported logistically by RU), now they are full RU military , command and control, supplies, etc. They asked for and got to keep the old nicknames they had then they were just volunteer units of desperate civilians trying to fight off ukrainian fascists (Sparta, Somali, etc) however beyond this it is normal military with normal detachment markings, nomenclature, etc.. they are RU military through and through now.

Anybody that takes an honest and unbiased look at RF movements v capabilities in this area would draw one of three realistic conclusions; 1. The Russian forces are cautious to the point of handicapping themselves (something that I do not believe based on previous actions), 2. They are leaving the backdoor open on purpose to allow UAF grunts to retreat (an act of unparalleled honour that we would never see from a NATO country) or 3. They are leaving the back door open because they want to allow Kiev to keep packing the grinder (this is a war of attrition after all). In either case, the secondary goal of drawing focus has certainly been achieved; Troop movements are high on both sides of ever belligerent's border, representing an almost certain new thrust.. but from where and to where? That is the big question. A new geological/hard border needs to be established [along with a central vassal-management churn in Kiev].. that is, if there is any desire for a lasting peace within the next 18 months. The dnieper is a textbook candidate, and provides the opportunity for both sides to establish a largely controllable DMZ. But does Russia have the legs for it..? not under its current strategy it doesn't.
