What a race and exhibition from Alvaro ! He rode like a beast and champion in this Superpole race, his double overtake on Alex and Johnny was amazing and sliding in every corner like Toprak, despite the weight disadvantage he’s still here and since Barcelona he comeback after a difficult beginning of the season where he had to adapt to those new bikes and regulation, a shame that the majority of the fans never recognise him as one of the best of all time and his great performances, if Toprak would have did this same performance everyone would be praising him now like in the Race 2, and I’m saying this being a big fan of Toprak but I also like Alvaro and his determination and talent, he’s the only rider to have taken the Ducati to limits unthinkable 5 years ago, Him and Toprak are in a league of their own and the 2 big favourites to fight for the championship this year, i like a lot the respect and healthy rivalry between them, the competitiveness and how they always push each other to be better and better, 2 Mega Cracks !

Guys, you need to get over that "weight disadvantage" myth. Because it still is a weight advantage for Bau. Every rider needs to add weights. Some more,some less. And Alvaro has still an advantage because it's only 50% of the difference between body weight(full gear) and the required 80kg. Further this is the SAME RULE as in the SSP class. Bautista is a good rider. He deserves a better fan community.

Yes, Bautista is a good racer and deserves respect, but let's not forget that Ducati is still the fastest and Alvaro is the lightest racer.

@@selcukcilek555 being lighter means less strength to maneuver a bike. Wighing less also have disadvantage. Adding Weight limit because of the riders Weight is less is like asking a basketball player to reduce his height because of the inherent advantage a tall person has in the game.

Bautista was relegated to P9 in the mid of superpole race, with 6 laps to go was 7th, and over 7 seconds behind Bulega leading, with 4 laps to go was P2 2.9 s behind bulega and won the race with over 2.2 s gap over Bulega.. Don't say because of straight line speed, this is TT Assen and not mugello..

Because alvaro is still significantly lighter than everyone else. As much as it may sound like an excuse. It is still the reality and the truth. He only have to add 8kg extra. Which means he may weight roughly around 70kg total with suit,boots, helmet and gloves on. While other riders weight 85-110kg with suit, boots, gloves and helmet. Which is significant especially when ducati still have the highest RPM Limit of 16,000 Rpm. More rpm equals to more power. Other manufacturers have an rpm limit of less thn 15,000 rpm. Only bmw has 15,200 rpm limit.

I don't think any factory team will contract a rider if his raw weight is more than 65kg... In my opinion 70+ kg riders should be banned from motorcycle racing because they pose danger to other riders...

@salttea8926 I'm sorry to say you must he delusional to think factory riders employ riders based on weight. It's all about your riding ability. Marc marquez is 175cm and is not skinny. He is fit with muscles. Toprak is 180+cm tall. No way can he weight less thn 65kg. He is atleast 75kg without his suit and boots and helmet. A racing suit alrdy weight atleast 7-10kg. You don't know or how to judge a person's weight. I'm 175cm tall and I alrdy weight 73kg and I'm fit but not muscular.

imagine you ride a ducati and your teammate catches you and get a gap of 2-3 seconds in just 10 laps? yeah give me a break! something is not legal I tell u a 40yo can't make such difference if he were so talented where was his talent in motogp? he was getting the last in motogp something is wrong in this case they need to investigate his bike

Alvaro is a very talented rider, he won 125cc championship, he fight for the 250cc and was close to win it, and in MotoGP he never had the opportunity to ride for the top bikes like the Repsol Honda or the official Yamaha to prove his quality and speed, he only ride in a Honda satellite and achieved with it some great podiums, the only factory team he ride for was Suzuki but Suzuki was in a disaster situation and ready to retire from motogp in 2011 to comeback after in 2015, when he came in Superbike he had the opportunity to ride for factory teams like Honda and Ducati and he always proves that he was one of the best and always between the 5 fastest riders despite having the disadvantage of the weight like Dani Pedrosa in the past who the 125cc and 250cc bikes suits perfectly his weight and riding style but in motogp he suffered a lot to adapt and be solid because the bikes were so big and heavy for a little man like him, and despite that big disadvantage the little Samurai was close to win 1 or 2 motogp titles with more luck.
