In an exclusive interview with Local 5's Eva Andersen, Jessica Reznicek says her actions are being mischaracterized. The Des Moines woman was sentenced to 8 years in federal prison for vandalizing the Dakota Access Pipeline.

Eight years will pass swiftly, sweetheart. I Love You. I wrote several letters to my Representative in Congress, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, asking her to speak out in your defense, since she was also present at Standing Rock. But she never responded. I also contacted the Sunrise Movement and asked them to advocate for you and Ruby. I've never seen them do or say anything about your case.

That is a shame from AOC who I have looked as a glimmer of hope in the system.. I wonder if she herself is to blame, or the people working with her who cut your feedback off from reaching her, or adviced against the case due to political reasons or something in the lines of that?

Very brave and courageous to stand up to the fossil fuel industry to protect our water! What else can citizens do when both state and federal governments allow Energy Transfer Partners to continue the flow of oil when they haven't ever completed an Environmental Impact Statement? An EIS is a requirement of both Iowa Utilities Board and US Army Corps of Engineers to even get approved to build a pipeline. Yet now ETP is working on doubling the flow of oil through DAPL without compliance. Who's the domestic terrorist?!
