Fan zhendong has been the main player for 11 years, and got some injuries in his body. He is trying new things to find ways for tactical transformation now. He will be better after his body recovered.

Fan's form looks better but tactically I feel he's not there with Ma Long or WCQ.

Excuse me!? Ma Long is a tactical genius but Wang Chuqin!? Wang Chuqin is anything but tactical. And he does not need to be tactical because he can just overpower his opponent through his speed and explosive shots.

@@Independent_Man3 I gently disagree. WCQ did improve his game this year. If you compare the games last year where he struggled against Fan but managed to comeback against Lin Shidong from 2-0 down, his game has improved both mentally and TACTICALLY. While Fan's tactical game remains stagnant, WCQ makes great changes. Now when you take a look at Sun YS, she isn't the speediest or most explosive player. But she's world number 1 because of tactical brillance. Same thing is happening to WCQ. They aren't just world number 1 because they are simply speedy or explosive. They are mentally and tactically BETTER than others.

Even now Fan Zhendong seems so much weaker than he did just a year ago. Lee Sangsu is also not playing his best but Fan managed to get the better of him simply with placement and consistancy, but he is sorely lacking the venom and power than he used to have in every shot, he is playing much more defensive and retreating from the tavke way too fast, its no wonder he lost to Lin Shidong and had such a close game in their most recent encounter. I just dont see him winning the olympics like this, he seems to have lost the fire in him 😢. My favorite player falling from grace right at what should be the peak of his career.

I couldnt agree more.. Fan used to be super explosive with insane consistency. Now he has lost both.

Why are these R32 rounds matched up like R8 rounds? Some really good players will be knocked out early.

They are matched up right. It is WR # 4 vs WR # 30.

Just meant you usually see matches like this later on but if you look at the others you have other top ten match ups (or close) in R 32. Just an observation.
