Yes we will usually give the customer that option! It also looks cleaner. But in this case i was just trying to save some cash since it was my house. We even do wood picket fences on concrete as well usually. Thanks for the comment!

What size purlin did you use? Also I’m having a hard time finding the name of the top trim. Looks awesome!!

Thanks, sorry just seeing this. it was a 4inch purlin. i believe its a type of U channel.

Nice job. What is the capping you used on the top of the fence and how did you secure it?

Thanks, we used a 2" cap. it is basically a c-shape so the back side is where we screwed it to the panels so that the screws dont show from the front.

Live in Hobbs, in the county…. 60-80mph gust, 2 ft depth on post? Or should I go 3’ I’ll be doing about 900 ft of fence.

I would do 3' deep if possible. 2' would probably be fine too but 3' would definatley stand up to the hobbs winds.

Nice job. Do you have step by step on this?, or a how to sort of?, been kicking the idea of a fence like this since it’s so clean looking.

Mostly the easiest way to explain it is you start by setting your post. Then we tack welded the c-perlings rails to the posts. we only did one rail on top and one about 10" off the ground. Then from there you screw the 3ft wide panels onto the rails. After that we put the caps on and the corners. Its actually a very simple fence to install if you can or know a welder!

we just overlapped it by an inch and put a screw in the back side to hold it in place.

Did you run a string line at the top also to compensate for the drop of the land?

Yes we did, and the cap ontop of the fence also hides the drop in the fencing.

Two questions How far apart are the post spaced out from each other ? and what size of cee purlin did you use ?

Looks very nice man, when purchasing the piece that goes on top of the fence to make it look straight what is it called? I’m doing something similar to this on my property I liked the look it gives it.

What are the posts and crossbar coated with or or it raw steel?

The posts dont have a coating as it was just used oil pipe, but the c purlins had a primer coat. For our climate there is no need for a paint, but i a rainy environment i would recommend priming ang painting them.

We just keep an eye on the open side where the sheet metal panels are not placed yet to see the metal rails behind. It takes some getting used to indeed.

Thanks! I want to say it was about 300ft and the materials were about 6k. Although that doesnt inlclude pipe as we used old pipe we had laying around.

@@mateocarlos2674 what we used in this video was oil field pipe so it isnt as nice looking but from an actual metal place they will sell square tubing like a 4" square metal pipe would look really nice.

That fence is in New Mexico, it’s not going to do much rusting out there. I have these same panels near Houston for 20 years now with no rust, but yes, eventually they will rust but may likely outlast you and I.

Hi, we just concreted the poles as you would a wood post. We didnt do a footing on this one just because we dont get much moisture, but a footing is definately worth it

Bidding on a job similar to this. No grading or footing needing with a 3 man crew. What is a good price per linear ft for a job like this?

We typically charge 60 per linear foot for a 6ft tall fence. It can also depend on what metal is going for in your area and what kind of wages per employee you have to pay and also insurances can play a factor.

Your c-purlin is turned the wrong way..... The way you have it on the fence is way weaker than if you turned it the way it's supposed to be..... It's weaker the way you have the c-purlin I wouldn't hire you to build a fence for me

If we used squre posts than that would have been what we would do but i used oil field pipe and wasnt about to have my fence take about 10" width by welding the purlins sideways. It also wasnt work cutting all the saddles if we set the purlins inside the posts.
