Very solid review man. I agree totally about the feeling of this being two different movies. I think that vibe hits harder on a first viewing but less so on repeated watches. I admit, I do prefer the first half more, but still a great movie overall.

Shame you didn't love this one. It's possibly my second favourite Kubrick after The Shining. I've never had an issue with the 2 parts but totally get why some do. My girlfriend had the exact same response as you.

It was weird. I've become a huge admirer of Kubrick's work but this one didn't quite do it for me. The Shining happens to be my second favourite after 2001.

I did feel like it was two separate stories but it didn't bother me too the point I didn't enjoy it. I remember the score and acting proper messing me up but I haven't seen it in years
