It has been a while, but I have finally got out and filmed a wild camp for you! I hiked up from the Pennine Way in the Peak District to spend a night under the stars in the tent and got to watch the wonderful Strawberry Full Moon! I cook at camp both on the evening and at breakfast with wonderful sunrise views over the Peak District Hills.

👍😁👍 Apart from been in constant camp shade. Mary's cookery show was good and hope dereck did the washing up 🤣😁 I've been through and over that quarry before and never thought of doing a wildcamp there. I don't know why, it's so easy to get to and views can be stunning in good weather.. Nice shots of the full moon and glad you both enjoyed a wildcamp, if a tad cold.. I bought a little electric hand warmer that doubles as a power pack from Ocoopa it has 3 heat settings and I always pre heat the footbox of my sleeping bag with it if I know the night time temp will be below 10 degs.. In the past I've even stuffed my feet inside my sleeping bag into my empty rucksack for extra foot warmth when I forgot my bivvy bag 😁 Lovley video Mary, takecare..

I did the washing up actually! Although he did carry the tent so I suppose that made up for it 🤣 What a brilliant idea about putting your feet in your backpack - I'll be trying that next time 👍

Hi y’all! I’m also checking in from Texas. Thanks for posting this bit of sunshine, fine weather and wonderful images. It was a nice lark considering the heat we are experiencing here in the Texas Hill Country. Thanks to you and Derek for taking the time and energies to include all of us. Be well.

This has been a superb video (as always) I really felt I was there partaking with you two, enjoying the gorgeous scenery, the food and the ambiance. Hard to believe it’s that cold in June when it’s been 100 + degrees since the beginning of June in Texas, good thing I like the heat 😊 Thank you for taking us along on this awesome overnight adventure. 🙏🏻🥰

Yep, I frequently have that problem of not being able to sleep the first night in the tent. I am trying to figure out how to cope with that issue, as it makes camping a bit less fun for me if I am awake half the night. I was surprised to see how cold it was there, assuming this was shot within the past month. I expect that the relative lack of tree cover may lead to radiational cooling. But what a fantastic 360-degree view!

It's a pain isn't it! When we do longer hikes the first few days I am always so shattered, by the 3rd night I'm usually okay. I even thought about camping in the garden the night before sometimes...but my neighbours have wind chimes 🙄

@@MarysOutdoorAdventures Similar experience for me on the longer hikes. I seem to adapt by the third night and I can get to sleep after that. I also cannot do the yard pre-sleep thing. My neighbor has a rooster!
