What a time to be alive this was. All the early mornings and late nights playing Pokemon Blue as a kid, trading with the link cable, harassing my friend for a Mew, collecting Pokemon cards and watching the TV show on Saturday mornings without fail. Damn I miss the old days.

The transition period to the information era was truely a golden age for gaming. Everything was new and exciting. Now kids are spoiled with games with 3A graphics but lack substance.

Pallet town's music makes me tear up. It's the theme song of innocence and naiveness. Nothing to worry about except dead AA batteries and not having enough light to see the screen. Being an adult sucks sometimes...

cctitansfan there is no such thing as Pokemon go. But there is a stupid game that uses Pokemon and a very weak satalite signal that makes it so you get a limited amount of poke balls and then have to buy some with real money no poke dollars

damn the nostalgia was heavy i forgot how many tracks there were and how memorable they were. it's like i was thrown all around the places i used to be and go to during those late 90's playing this game. the way pokemon swept the US was unreal and the internet was still in lazy mode. it was like literally every kid friend or cousin I knew were into either the games, or cards, or show/movies. these sort of ended up being anthems for recess, or when the school day was done, ready to go home and enjoy blissful freedom that came with being that age if you were so fortunate and God am I glad I have these memories the general fanfares, towns and exploring/fields music hit me hard, bro. and pokemon center that shit was like finding home

I started with Pokemon Red, and Charmander as my starter. People say this was a popular decision, but for me, the most challenging. Facing Brock and Misty was one of the most difficult childhood experiences I faced as a gamer. And, the feeling of getting to Vermillion City and hearing that music, brings that 16 year old feeling back to the front of my brain. No other game captures me to that level of satisfaction or spirit, not even rivals that sincerity of innocent accomplishment, which is what great gaming is all about.

Omfg nostalgia over LOAD. 1998 in summer camp everyone had game boy colors but me. Poor Stan he only has mega man! then my dad picked me up for the weekend parent drive or w/e we went to every store and they were sold out lucky we went to radio shack 2 city's over to get the Pokemon! And a game boy color and Pokemon red I'm 24 and Pokemon has had more of an impact on my life than loosing my virginity, doing my first drug, going to jail the first time,and filth time! this sound makes me cry nostalgic tears. I do believe nostalgia is a better feeling than sex... I really do. yo.

I remember my step-mom who I hated, got me the fucking Pokemon silver Japanese edition for 50$ in like 1999 or 2000, you betcha, at the local comic shop.... I was the Ian Maclom of school with my super awesome game-boy color and a Japanese Pokemon silver in my shit, never got past the like third badge, but man, I had all the kid liking me back in middle school, can you like, believe the only kid in the whole school who has Pokemon Japanese silver? man now if that was the case I would get so much pussy. Eh, to bad girls do not fall for Pokemon badges... -.-.. that's like now irl I got fucking heroine or diluted or some shit yo get whores but yeah. POKEMON!!!!

This just took me back to the late 90's! I remember getting my first gameboy and blue version... i was at my grandmas house (RIP) and my mom had just drove hours to come and pick me up. I remember feeling so much joy as she pulled into the driveway and got out of the car. Somehow i knew she was bringing a gameboy. i was only 5 at the time. i remember this memory so vividly. i'm 28 now. i would give anything to go back to those simple times

Not that there aren't good tracks in X and Y (such as the Lumiose City Theme, and A.J.'s Theme, which I feel does have a lot of emotion behind it, unlike most of the latest tracks, and is a real gem), but yeah, I get what you say. Most of them have really fantastic melodies behind them, something which has rarely been rivaled by any tracks after Generation II, with the exception of maybe the remakes. Generation I and II was like "there is a whole world full of mystery to explore" and a little bit of "so get up and go" added, but now it is mostly "get up and go". The tracks for Mt. Moon and Lavender Town were especially filled with the air of mystery. And the ironic thing is that I only started buying the games since Generation II. Before then, I had watched friends play, and rented a Red Version (and could barely stop playing it, which probably keep my parents from buying it themselves)... It could be nostalgia however, seeing as how I still have my Pichu/Pikachu Edition Gameboy Color and the original Silver and Crystal versions, which have lost their save games due to the dead battery, but I probably still won't throw them away...

Joel Szasz Lucky you. I have lost my Silver Version and the Yellow Pikachu too, only the Blue one still is in my posession... Might pick them up on Ebay. Especially Silver i will never forget. But yeah, Blue has the best memories. First playhours wandering through the forest just to find Pikachu :) played Blue and Silver throughout the years of my early schooltime.

He's still got it somewhere.... once I've finished FireRed, I might follow in his footsteps.... so much nostalgia from watching him play it when I was little.... :) Still got X as well.... FireRed first, then X, since I've already started, then I'll go back to Crystal, if it still works. If not, I'll get SoulSilver.

Anyone remember the 2nd movie soundtrack where Weird Al has a 'Polka-rap?" The tune from the Red/Blue Cassino matches at least part of the song. Where he says, "It's time to Polka, for ponyta and pidgey too, try not to stand by little pikachu" it has the same melody.

It is such an indescribable feeling, I dont know how to explain it. It was 1999 and I wanted a GB color SO BADLY had but parents didn't have the money. We went to toys R us one day and there was an open box GB but it was a black and white version. (Not the large grey one, but a black, newer version) It was missing a battery cover and was marked like 80% off. We got it and my adventure started. Life is short and I'd give anything to go back to that day and that store. Incredible remaster of the music. Well done and thank you very, very much

Man, that last battle with your rival in RB was just....so intense as a kid. Was actually also my first plot twist: "What's that, you beat the Elite Four (after 10 tries)? WELL TOO BAD CUZ THERES STILL THE CHAMPION!" And when you thought Lance's dragons were crazy.....lets just say a Lv 65 Blastoise gave me nightmares.

Why does every Pokémon OST have that weird echo, though? When you actually play the games, it's not there at all, but whenever the OST for Gen 1 is in a video, it always has it like there's some weird filter on the sound. It's not like other Game Boy games' OSTs get hit by this, either (e.g. Wario Land), it just seems to be a Pokémon thing.
