Thanks for the video. I enlarged the holes on my manifold to prevent it from clogging. I also replaced the end caps with silicone hoses that I terminate loosely in the mash bed or outside the mash basket. I used a handheld drill to enlarge the holes.Ensure to clean it thoroughly. It worked very well. Now I upgraded to the new circulation manifold.

Noted! We can do a full clean up video! Probably would be good for us anyways because we always learn such great tips from the community when we post these videos :)

Hey guys, great video and brew day!💪🏻 Just a comment for chilling the worth: the counter flow chiller is not designed to chill the worth while recirculation. That’s the most inefficient way to use it. You can directly transfer the worth to the fermenter using a slow flow rate and it will come out with low temp as well. I only use it in a recirculating manner to get below 80celsius for hop stand. Greetings from Hamburg ✌🏻

Thanks for the advice! We have tried a bunch of different methods and will soon have a video about it :)

Nice POV! one thing id consider adjusting is adding the un malted / flaked stuff first. It needs a higher temp and slightly longer contact time to convert and gelatinize. You really want all that gloopy protein. Some people will cook them up first on their stove then add them in. I always add them first and give em 10-15min before mashing in at mash in temps. Good show though! You guys really need a resirc manifold! I could loan one to you if you wanna test it out. I have a few 😂

Great info! I have normally done it on the top to prevent a sticky mess on the bottom, but it's never been a problem so it's probably a false hypothesis. I'll give this a shot on our next brew! Yeah, we really do need the recirculation manifold. I am not a fan of the sparge manifold. I'll totally take you up on that offer to borrow one!

I have almost the same setup brewing the same size! I'm learning a lot of great tips on your channel so, thank you. I've had some trouble with efficiency doing big hazies so I'm going to try and add Enzymes like you are to see if it helps with my workflow! Question about your recipe It looks like you have a fixed FG on your recipe. Is that accounting for the enzymes you add during the mash? Otherwise technically this would have a much lower FG. Cheers!
@BentGateBrewing
@BentGateBrewing 6 ай бұрын
Glad we are able to give you some help! With regards to the fixed FG, we do that because we have brewed it before and know what they end up being (on our system). On new recipes we usually just let the software predict and give ourselves room for buffer. The enzymes we add during the mash don't survive the boil so they do not affect the FG the same way if you added something like Clarify Ferm during fermentation.

Great video! Thanks for sharing. Have you guys ever checked for dissolved oxygen in your final wort once it hit the fermenter? Are you aerating with pure O2 at 0.5 L/min during the entire transfer?

Enjoy your videos! Can you elaborate more on the extra pump between the kettle and fermenter? Do you just need extra power to push it that high into the FV? And also included the pump in the sanitization part? Cheers!
@BentGateBrewing
@BentGateBrewing 8 ай бұрын
Great question, I don't think it's NEEDED, but it certainly helps. But yes, it's really what we use for the sanitization using the CIP ball in the fermenter from the top. So we have it hooked up and sanitized anyways so we use it which speeds things up a bit. Also, I'd say it's absolutely necessary if you want to do CIP in either the kettle or fermenter. The Brewtools pump isn't powerful enough to get the water shooting hard enough in my opinion.

Is that purge valve a brewtools accessory or where did you get it? Couldn't find it with a few quick google searches. Also, is the built-in pump not enough to get to the fermentor? Thanks for the video!

Great video, thanks for sharing! Quick q: have you tried lowering the power of the heaters once you've got a rolling boil? In my experience from one(!) brew on the B80 approx 30% was actually enough to keep the boil going with the steam hat on so I was surprised to see you apparently keeping it at 70% throughout the entire boil?
@BentGateBrewing
@BentGateBrewing 8 ай бұрын
Actually we have not played with that yet. We have only done the 70% because it's built into the profile for the steam hat on Brewfather. To be honest, we haven't actually calculated our steam loss yet 🫣

Enjoy your videos! Question: why do you manually increase mash step temperatures and not load a recipe into the B150 and run that?
@BentGateBrewing

It's been a while since I used the recipe thing, but last time I used it it always asked before moving to the next step, which then sort of defeated the "automated" purpose. Maybe it's changed and a lot better now. I've never been a fan of the recipe mode in general due to it being a pain in the ass to change things on the fly (extend times) and also accidentally moving to the next step. To be fair, a lot of that is probably user error and not the recipe program and it's been 1.5 years since I used it 😅 Probably should give it another shot

Awesome video as always. How often do you wind up brewing weekly on your system and how many different beers does that wind up being?
@BentGateBrewing
@BentGateBrewing 8 ай бұрын
Thanks! Right now we are fermenter-limited, so we only brew once 3-4 weeks maximum. It tends to actually come out right now to 10 brews a year if you include vacation, longer fermentations/conditioning, etc. Next step for us it to get another fermenter and double this :)

Great video, I did a lot of brews on the b80pro, it helps to get better efficiency to circulate worth for 10 minutes when the malt basket is lifted, before you sparge. I fill the fermenter through the bottom valve with oxygenated worth and pitch the yeast when the konus of the fermenter is filled, so the yeast gets oxygenated too and spreads. Greetings from germany, prost
