As a long time fan (17 years already) I really thank you for your reaction. Our Junsu is well known as one of the best (if not the best) kpop vocalists of all time. He is literally called "idol of idols" and "celebrity of celebrities". As you saw Junsu does not only sing with his voice, but also with his whole body. Your reactions has been one of the most genuine ones I've seen; also, the fact you do not know what the lyrics are about but clearly felt what he was trying to portray in his singing says a lot about Junsu as a singer. You saw more ballads for 2 reasons 1. He is black listed so he cannot promote on tv, Killing Voice has been one of the very few stages where he has been able to showcase his vocals and 2. Since he is blacklisted he sings a lot of OST as a way of promotion Junsu is known as a very talented dancer besides a being a good singer and he prefers a dancing stage over a ballad one. The 3 songs he sang at the beginning are his most popular songs in Korea. Korea loves his ballads more. I'm surprised he didn't sing Butterfly tho. That song was pretty popular as well. Junsu is actually an amazing dancer. Probably the best I've seen in kpop in terms of how enjoyable he is to see dance. Music possesses him both vocally and dance wise lmao I recommend Incredible, Rock The World, oEo, tarantallegra. Also if you like rock I'm surprised you haven't checked out more of Jaejoong. He specializes in rock and I think you'd like the instrumentals in his music. He uses a lot of strings.

Fun to stumble onto this while I was on a bout of nostalgia watching old Junsu/TVXQ clips. My first time watching Junsu solo was his performance of 'Beautiful Thing' on SBS Music Wave back in 2007. I think that video is still floating around somewhere. I had started sobbing just a couple lines in, which felt like it came out of nowhere. All it took was his voice to get that out of me. I guess he still has that affect on people all these years later. Lol! He has been my favorite singer ever since. You might generally like his Death Note musical songs (he played L) and Dracula musical songs (he played Dracula) if you're vibing with the more aggressive rock stuff. Or something like 'The Shadows Grow Longer' from Elisabeth (he played Death/Der Tod). From his pop albums 'License To Love' has kind of a rock feel. I love that track. My personal favorite genre for his voice is in the pop/R&B range, but that was a lot more common in TVXQ's old discography. Stuff like 'Try My Love' or 'Tonight' or 'Hey! Girl' or 'Wrong Number'. Love Is Like Snowflake is his most popular/well known OST,but not the one with most views,there has another OST call How Can I love You which is from a more popular drama than this one. Love Is Like Snowflake is one of very first songs I've heard from him,it's before I really get into TVXQ,I've watched this drama before and I was really into it back then,I still remember I cry everytime they play this song. Death Note is a super popular musical,this song is one of character L's representative number,Junsu sing this song so well that it's almost become his representative song,so it's no surprised this song has most replays in this killing voice. Death Note and Dracula's music are from same composer Frank Wildhorn.

As some has said, Tarantallegra will be good for you to discover because it has everything you've just asked for from him. It was the title song of his debut as a solo. It is highly influenced by his musicals as he stated himself(especially Elizabeth) which allowed him to go as dramatic as he can. The choice for mostly ballads, as has been commented, is because that style is the most popular in SK and this was one of the only places he could promote after being blacklisted for over 10 years for suing SM and being JYJ. It's understandable why he went this route of slow tempo rather than upbeat. He has a plethora of musical songs and performances both as an MV and a live format. Just type xia musical and enjoy the journey. The sobbing is understandable.

I laughed so hard when you unpaused the video and the beginning of Pit A Pat played, along with the flashing background 😆 For a different song, check out his debut song, Intoxication - everyone expected him to debut with a ballad, and he blindsided everyone with a very slinky track. For a more jazzy number, check out Tonight (the Junsu solo, not the TVXQ song) and Xitizen. One of his very first solo songs (when he was still in TVXQ) is a ballad, but in a haunting kind of way, so I'd highly recommend checking that out too. It's called Beautiful Thing, and it's still one of his best songs till date.
