Күн бұрынWe sailed on MSC Meraviglia in early January 2024 and captured a LOT of video, pictures, and lessons learned throughout the sailing. Not only did we experience this gorgeous ship, we also stayed in their ship-within-a-ship concept: the Yacht Club. We provide our FULL REVIEW, including what we Loved, Didn’t Love, and what we Hated about the entire experience. In traditional fashion for This Cruise Life, we break our review into smaller sections and look at the Food, Drinks, Entertainment, and more!
In summary, there was a LOT to love about MSC and the Yacht Club. So much so, that we announced the booking to not just one, but two more MSC cruises sailings in the coming months!
As part of the Full Review, we also offer up several cruise times throughout that will help you on your MSC and Yacht Club experience. Regardless of which ship you sail, if you are in the Yacht Club, the experience will be very similar and we hope these tips and tricks help you cruise like a pro!

This has got to be the most positive review I have seen about MSC Meraviglia Yacht Club here on KZfaq and I so appreciate it. I am booked in the Yacht Club for a cruise in January. Other reviewers here on KZfaq haven’t been so kind…especially regarding the food... so I was growing concerned. I am a long time NCL Haven traveler. To hear that you spoke to people who said they would not be going back to the Haven blew me away. The Haven, especially the food, is pretty extraordinary. But MSC Yacht Club sounds like it is a lot more bang-for-the-buck…..which is why I wanted to try it. And the butler service on the Yacht Club seems to FAR exceed the Haven. Knowing me, I will probably never leave the Yacht Club. I am not a fan of these 5000+ passenger cruise ships…to cramped, under staffed ...and things like ONLY THREE relaxing stone chairs in the spa, that you spoke of, infuriate me. (NCL has a comedy club that accommodates maybe 60-75 people on a ship of 5000 people!! WTF???) So I usually stick to cruising on much smaller ships. Thanks for this review. You two are great!!

Thank you for the kind words! We’re always try to find the positive in things as there’s so much negativity in the world. It’s never forced by us, though. We truly loved our experience in the Yacht Club and even on our recent sailing aboard the MSC Meraviglia in a standard cabin we still encountered people staying in the Yacht Club who favored it over the Haven. Overall a great elevated experience and we hope you have a fantastic time in January!

What an excellent review. My wife and I are definitely going to look into doing the yacht club in the near future. We are going on the same ship you were just on with the kids in July. This is our second cruise with them. We took one last year, and the kids loved it. We enjoyed it very much and got the same room, believe it or not. It was enjoyable watching you guys. They spoil you and it’s hard to adjust to real life when you go back. ;) In all seriousness, we just debarked MSC Meraviglia this morning. We were on Meriviglia in July. The weather was so hot I couldn’t get comfortable. Our butler Pradish and Stewartd went out of their way for us. Alin the Yacht Club manager went over and above putting up with our grumpiness. Very much appreciated. They never sent me a survey, wonder why. But like you said the crew is outstanding and really went over and above.

So glad to hear that you had such a positive experience in the end. Seems like the surveys that the cruise lines send out are inconsistent. Some of them have a long window to respond and others give you only a couple of days, if you even receive one!

You are in for an absolute TREAT! Several of the crew members we’ve sailed with will still be on. Please tell them we say hello! Also, one more tip to add here in the comments: you’ll want to say hello to Maria. She’s the Yacht Club Director and is just that sweetest! She loves interacting with guests and really made our cruise special this sailing by inviting us up to recognize and thank the amazing staff we had in the Yacht Club in January. We were one of those loyal NCL The Haven folks that have been converted and (I think) will be converts to MSC Yacht Club. We loved it so much we already booked again in the Yacht Club on the Meraviglia in December 2024. Woo hoo!

I don't like the side thruster vibes only because I associate them with the last day of the cruise. Pulling into port, early in the morning, and the ship's waking me up telling me vacation time's over. It's like mom waking me up on a school morning so I'm not late.

Thank you so much for the detailed review. I've only experienced the Haven on NCL & the last one on the Breakaway was awful. We're thinking of another cruise for our anniversary next year & I was not happy thinking only NCL was going to be our choice again. On Cruise Critic I stumbled on MSC cruise reviews & kept reading along. Someone from there posted your suite review & I was hooked. I just subscribed to you here & found your website. I don't know if you ever went on NCL for a comparison, bit I have to say, what you talk about with MSC makes me want to book a cruise with them. We are in NJ, so will be looking into the Meraviglia as well. Thanks again for your well thought out & honest review. Appreciate it. xx Oh, one more thing as I'm watching & you mentioned the lack of a library, is there a place to play cards? We often play Canasta or other games, but in a library that has tables & chairs. Any place available that you know of if they don't have an actual library? Thanks.

Welcome to the channel and thank you for the kind words! After speaking with multiple people in the Yacht Club with us, they all said that MSC was far better than NCL’s Haven. Very attentive and top quality service everywhere within the area. Regarding spaces available to enjoy some quiet game time, there are several places where we saw families doing just that! The Meraviglia Bar (not a loud or popular bar), the Marketplace Buffet (though they don’t like people just hanging around there), Sky Lounge if you don’t have kids in the group. Those the areas that immediately stuck out in our mind, aside from the Top Sail Lounge if you get a Yacht Club room, of course. Hope this all helps!

Hey guys! Nicely put together. I watched the whole vid 🙂 In exactly 28 days my wife and I and two littles get on the Yacht Club on board Seascape. First time on MSC. Previously loved the Haven. This review makes me super excited. One thing that's already on my hate list is their website. It's glitchy and finicky as all hell. I did want to ask, what time did you go to check in? Our "assigned check in" is 2 pm but the option to change it is grayed out. We're getting to Miami two days before and would rather not get to the port at 2 pm when it's likely super busy.

As for the arrival time, when we checked in, we were able to change the appointment to an earlier time as demonstrated in our MSC Check-in Video (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rJ-eqriopq6zhKs.html). If you don’t see the option to go earlier, I’d suggest calling their customer support line to find out if you can get an earlier time. As part of the Yacht Club experience, you should have access to priority boarding.

That’s awesome! We look forward to saying hello during the cruise. 3rd time on the ship; must be a good experience outside the YC. :) In terms of upgrade offers, we saw one come through but it was MUCH higher than our January sailing. Guessing the ship is sailing more full.

Hey there! Thanks for your message! Gratuities are automatically applied so you don’t have to worry about tipping. If a crew member goes above and beyond and you wish to give them a little extra, that’s up to you - we’ve seen anywhere from $5US up to $100US and in some cases even more! That’s at your discretion. Absolutely. Tips above and beyond the automatic gratuity is up to the discretion of each guest. For amazing service, we always like to recognize staff across the ship! 💙

I believe its best to just get in the soonest elevator to arrive ,and then put your wristband under the reader inside it and press your deck number. Itll overide everyone else's deck selections.

Ah yes, but only if it’s in an elevator with that service available. There’s only two elevators - that we saw - that are capable of handling the YC priority scans.

Hey guys - QQ. I’ve heard on at least one MSC Yacht Club sailing they had a problem with a smoke smelling room. I have asthma and that’s a deal breaker. Did you have any issues with your room? Thx! Jeff

Thanks for asking Jeff. I also struggle with smoke, so it is definitely something we watch for when we explore ships. Thankfully, we did not experience any sort of smoke smell in the Yacht Club even once. With that said, the smoking casino is pretty darn bad on the Meraviglia. Unfortunately, to get to the aft theater where the Cirque-style shows are, you have to pass through that area. Really, the only place on the ship that we *really* noticed the smoke smell. Based on our experience, they were fairly efficient at disembarking the vessel upon arrival to the terminal. We had to be out of our cabins by 7:30am and the debark process began shortly thereafter. We walked off the ship around 10am and there weren’t that many passengers left on the ship.

Shhhh. It’s a secret, but we can whisper it to you 🤫. Deck 7 has some outdoor spaces with a walkway that goes past the life boats. We were able to enjoy the show from there and it wasn’t crowded (except for the crew on their smoke break).

Guys rethink your cruise in April trust me you will not like it if you are not in the Yacht Club. Just the boarding will turn you off and the experience will be completely different. We must have missed you this last cruise we were on back to back for Christmas /New Years and as you stated it was great. We have sailed many times on MSC in the Yacht Club and we think it is the best for the money. I don't want you to be disappointed but I would rethink your choosing for April. All the best. Maybe we will see you guys on a future cruise for sure in the Club.

We knew we were setting the bar high when we started off with MSC in the Yacht Club, but the price was just too good to pass up. We believe in trying the standard product for any cruise line and if we have the opportunity to compare it to an elevated option, then great! We are excited to see the Meraviglia through a different set of eyes in April. Stay tuned to see how we feel after! 😜

What services was included in the spa for the yacht club?

We could go whenever we wanted, just needed to speak to our concierge ahead of time. This gave us access to the thermal suites which included a number of options from saunas to steam rooms to thalassotherapy pools. If we wanted any additional services, we would have to reserve them and pay full-price.

Yes! You can take food away from the buffet to your stateroom. And, yes, in the Yacht Club the concierge ordered pizzas for us one night and our butler delivered them hot and fresh. Wonderful!

How much to tip the butler is a great question and really will be custom to each individual and experience. We’ve seen quite the spread on message boards - everything from $50 to $500. We recommend tipping based on the service provided. Keep in mind, the Yacht Club is an elevated experience with elevated service; when planning your voyage, we always recommend setting aside a portion for gratuities to ensure you are able to recognize and reward great service. :) -mark

3310, when you have yacht club status, you should have unlimited access to the game rooms and bowling. If you have kids with you , it's a must!!

That would be amazing! Though, unlimited access doesn't always mean free plays; it could just mean that you can get in whenever you want because of priority service. We felt that the shows in the Circus Lounge should have been included, too, but they were not.

Great question! There are two buffets on the ship- the general one which hosted late night food like no other from midnight until 2am along with a dedicated buffet in the Yacht Club up on deck 19 for breakfast and lunch. We tried the non-YC buffet for lunch once and it was yummy and we loved the late night buffet (also the general area). The Yacht Club buffet was ok, but our sailing was January out of New York, so very few people ate there (including us). Hope that clarifies! :) Let me know if you have any other questions!! -mark

@thiscruiselife Ahhh . I see. So YC buffet closes earlier in the evening than the ships main buffet,so it's good as a late night option.

@@Stephanie-vx4zi correct. The YC buffet is only open for breakfast and lunch, so any other times, you’d have to go to the main buffet if you want buffet-style food. As for the shows in the Carousel Lounge, they are an up-charge, regardless of the experience you pay for. If you book the shows in advance, you’ll save some money, and the ticket to see the show include an alcoholic drink with it (and a non-alcoholic option).

Great Video! It's fun to compare it with my own YC-expierience on the MSC Fantasia wich was just similar to yours. Just one thing to mention: the ham and pinapple pizza. Just NEVER EVER try to order a ham and pinapple pizza on an italian cruise ship. In Italy the ham and pinapple Pizza (also known in Europe as "pizza hawaii") is considered as the greatest food-sin you could do. To order a h&p-pizza in Italy is literally like try to commit suicide! They might crucify you for doing that 😃

29:40 it's very strange that they didn't have towel service. Most all cruse ships have towels available in your state room.

That's what we're used to! They probably don't provide them in the Yacht Club because they don't expect those guests to go out into the other spaces on the ship. Either way, it was a little strange and disappointing.

They have towel service there, they brought us 6 pool towels for the 2 of us, they also put pool towels on our loungers on our balcony. It was apx 30 ft by 40 ft. We did the upgrade to yatch club and ended up with a mega suite. It was like hitting the lottery.

@@Juancarlo4342 that’s great! We saw the towels up on the top deck in the Yacht Club, but never got the general ship pool towels in our cabin.

Cruise ship butlers offer an incredible level of service. Reminder, industry standard is a 400-500 dollars tip for the room butler for 7 days for 2 people.

Doesn't MSC have prepaid gratuities? Are you so saying $400-500 over the prepaid?

@@mpdarrigo like most of the cruise lines out there, you can prepay your gratuities or foot the bill for them at the end of the cruise. What the previous person is mentioning is in addition to those pre-defined gratuities. There isn’t much of an increase in the amount from a standard cabin to the Yacht Club so they pay an additional amount to their butlers. That extra amount is entirely up to you as a passenger. Hope that makes more sense. 😊

We enjoy having at least one or two items from our cruises to add to our collection. To your point, we saved our money which means that the cruise line got less revenue from us.

We met someone on our sailing who was Vegan and they said it was a little bit of a challenge and you have to stay on top of your wait staff, but at the end of the day, MSC was able to accommodate their Vegan requests.

Libraries are waste of space on a cruise ship, bring a book. Who wants to touch that book full of germs.

We have many friends who bring their own, but sometimes it’s fun to curl up with a different read. Plus the library spaces on other ships provide a quiet room to be able to play games or just relax. Cruise ships are so loud with all the things happening.

The kids in adult bars- thats the Mediterranean for you!😉. I'm of British origin but have lived 23 years in Spain and Im married to a Spaniard. I now have Spanish nationality. The Italians, French, Spanish etc... due to the warm climate, have an alfresco social life. Its normal to see kids with their parents during the holidays or weekends out with them. Sat outside bars and restaurants midnight/1am. Also, cos they dont eat dinner until 10pm and the kids cant play outside until sun down (9pm / 10pm summer time) because its too hot. So a Mediterranean social time is late and bars have terraces. Mediterraneans usually have a more respectful attitude to drinking alcohol. Its not about getting slammed.😂.. so the kids arent exposed to risky stuff happening . But we would NOT see a minor inside in a late night party bar . So MSC should not do that.. not even in EUROPE, but they do! I guess it's to keep the Italians happy😮 So MSC is continuing that Mediterranean culture but over the pond. But I think MSC should have a different approach for sailings in the USA. Because the majority of guests are going to be Americans and the 🇺🇸 has stricter laws about booze and minors!❤ Party out on deck, ok.. But It's not right to have kids inside in late adult bars .

Thank you for sharing those with us! That really provides some insight into the culture that we didn’t previously know. In all, it was a pretty great experience (as you saw in the video), there were just some things that seemed a little strange to us.Perhaps it’s the Mediterranean way of life, but we absolutely loved that midnight buffet! So many great options there and the food quality was superb!

Given the capacity of that space, it was severely under-booked on our sailing. There was maybe 25% of the seats in use for both of the shows we saw in there.
