Ruike Canada is our national distributor for Ruike Knives. Today we look at the Hornet F815 fixed blade, full tang knife with a cutting edge just over 3 inches. I have thoroughly enjoyed carrying this knife over the last few weeks.
Ruike is a young brand out of China and they are making some waves. Their designs are fresh and attainable for people at just about any budget level.
Their website is ruikeknives.ca
You can check out the Hornet directly by going to: ruikeknives.ca/product/hornet...
For only $69.95CAD this fine blade can be yours. If you spend $125CAD they will ship your order to you with no shipping charge. that is a nice little bonus on top of their well-priced knives.

I concur that this s a really good combination of design, materials, and execution. As a lover of small fixed blades for EDC, this is a winner for me.

There are way more uses for small blades than many people think. so many guys always want BIG KNIVES, but bigger is only better a minority of the time.

Particularly for EDC. Out in the woods, a machete or big knife is a very useful thing, but in my kitchen or office? A small, stainless steel fixed blade is a beautiful thing.

I have this one Jake but with the black handle. Love it for an edc blade. There is a tightening screw on the the sheath where the knife enters that you can tighten to get rid of any shaking or movement within the sheath. You were bang on with the sheath belt screws being too long and it sticking out too far from your belt. Great review Jake. Thanks!!

I have the same knife (the black handles model), its better than most knives from Schrade, Kershaw, Gerber. The blade retains it's edge longer than even some Ka-Bar, OKC, & ESEE knives. I know it shouldn't be like that, but it is, what it is.

Well, that Sandvik 14C28N steel is VERY good. I think it is better than most people give it credit for.

Me too. It will be that little bit harder for me to lose when I put it down instead of putting it back in the sheath.

hi Jake another good review thanks. a few days ago I received my first order from gear best , I was pleasantly surprised that it only had taken two weeks to arrive. I had ordered a y start jin01 and a y start jin02 and also a small sling pack. I am blown away by how awsome these knives are , perfect fit and finish and qaulity materials , I love them. I also love my new sling pack it's very similar to the one I have seen you with in your videos. my only complaint is that the shoulder strap is a little short for me , even when the straps let all the way out its still a little short for me , I'm quite a large fellow , but I still love the pack anyway, I will add some extra strap to it in the future , maybe even something padded. I'm glad you reviewed and recommended the knives thanks again.

You will not always get your GearBest products that quickly. My average is about 3.5 weeks, which means sometimes its 5 or 6. Those Y-START knives are rocking it. I wish that company would be making many more knives, but only if they can do it while keeping their quality up, because they are one of the best values going these days.

I think I said it in your review of the P108, but I like what Ruike is offering, and I'm sure I'll see more or their knives in my future. I also noticed that Blade HQ has started offering Ruike knives, and the P108 on their site looks like it has additional matching color accents (blue back spacer and blue beta-lock switch). Anyways, they all seem to be very nice knives, for very reasonable prices. Thanks for the reviews!

I have heard other people say that they have seen the P108 with other colour accents too. I will check out Blade HQ and grab a picture and ask my contact at Ruike Canada about that. I think Ruike has a good business model and good products, I am sure they will succeed.

Because of that clip on the sheath i can carry my one inside the waist band. Feels a bit weird the first days, but after a week or two you do not notice that anymore

Goog review! Makes me wanna get one. As this is an EDC knife, I would sacrifice some of the qualities of the blade for ergonomics and ease of concealment. I would shorten the blade and the handle a little bit (my hand is slightly above medium). I would also change the position of the belt-loop so that it is higher and not visible when wearing a standard T-shirt.
@CanadianCuttingEdge
@CanadianCuttingEdge 5 жыл бұрын
For concealed carry - which arguably isn't considered legal by most law enforcement in Canada - I totally agree with your points. I would probably prefer a sheath system with a more old school style belt loop that can sit much closer to the body.

to fix that rattle, stuff a half of those foam ear plugs down in the bottom and that will stop the rattle.
@CanadianCuttingEdge
@CanadianCuttingEdge 7 жыл бұрын
That is a common simple fix. I guess I could have made a suggestion to folks on how to fix the rattle. the thing is, I never shake myself like a dog so in actual use it never rattles. I guess I could have said that in the video too. :)

This sheath has an adjustment screw at the base near where the sharpening choil is located when the knife is inside the sheath. I discovered this adjustment screw on my Ruike Jager F118 (Green) sheath and gradually tightening that adjustment screw until the knife stopped rattling around in the sheath works great. Great review, I will be ordering this little knife set to have a companion EDC knife to compliment my Ruike Jager F118 (Green).

Looks like it could be a nice little field dressing knife for pennsylvania white tail
@CanadianCuttingEdge
@CanadianCuttingEdge 5 жыл бұрын
Certianly, it would be good for that. I used to live on the other side on lake Erie and our whitetail there have BOOMED in the last 15 years due to the provincial government not allowing hunting in any woods unless they are a certain number of acres big, or some other odd rule, so they are becoming like mice, all over. major road hazard in lots of southern Ontario. They need to be hunted!!

There will always be better knives available. That said, this is still a very good choice for the price. There are MANY knives that are not as good that cost a lot more.

Thinking about getting this knife to attach to my backpack strap - if I removed the belt clip system, would it leave those 4 holes open for paracord/other mounting system?
@CanadianCuttingEdge
@CanadianCuttingEdge 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, if you took the clip system off then you would have those holes available to use with something like paracord. I think it would be a very good choice for that type of carry.

Check this one out on aliexpress -"JUFULE OEM ESEE IZULA Rowen 12992 Fixed Blade Tactical D2 Blade KYDEX Camping Hunting Survival Knife Straight Outdoors EDC Tools" unfortunately it's a clone but I'm really impressed with the quality of the blade & sheath, possibly better than the original, it came extremely sharp

D2 is quite common these days and it's not very expensive, so when they say it's D2 it usually is - but not always.
