I feel like it’s not often we see Misha this excited about how much he likes a car/how good it is. Long live the E46

There is really something about old school tuning of naturally aspirated engines. Those revs… my god it just screams for more!

For as much as everyone complains about the SMG, it looked like it was doing just fine out there! What a fantastic combination. The car looked so dynamic and fun on track, some of the newer cars look much more boring to drive. Definitely making me reconsider E46's!

This video has definitely helped me reignite my passion with my E46 M3. It's such a balanced, rewarding, and relatively easy car to get up to speed in. The carbon airbox noise is one of my favorite sounds too, wish it were louder in the cabin with the windows up!

Probably one of my favorite videos I've watched on this channel. Just shows what a well setup na 3.2 can do vs that turbocharged f80 m3 in your rear view mirror trying to close the gap with no success. This car is 2 generations of development back too so its amazing testament how well this car is setup. It truly shows how the Na car would pull away exiting from corners and extending the gap on a much more powerful turbocharged car that a litlle bit more heavier too. Awesome driving makes me wanna buy one of these and do similar engine mods and park it next to my 1.8l 4 banger 8500rpm Itr. These 2 cars produce amazing symphony at the track. Cheers from 🇨🇦

He still had an extra level he could have used for the SMG shifts. That oil temp was running high next mod is an oil cooler. Great seeing the best M3 being driving hard!

Amazing showcase of what a well put together "homemade" CSL can do on the ring and in the hands of an experienced driver. Im in the process of making my own, missing the Schricks to really open up the engine. This doesnt get said enough, the intake noise on this car and the S54 is second to none, it's smile inducing you can't help it.

I’ll tell you what, I used to be an SMG hater as with everyone else. Then my dream spec e46 M3 came up for sale. EVERYTHING about it was perfect apart from the SMG gearbox. I had previously gone to look at another manual but wasn’t the colour I wanted. After driving the SMG for the first time, it was a bit clunky but I decided to buy it anyways with the idea of a manual swap. But I’ll tell you what, it’s a fantastic gearbox. I’ve taken it on track at it massively out performs the manual. It is insanely fun and really suits the car, which is why they put it on the CSL! So before you slate the SMG, drive one yourself because everyone who hates them, probably hasn’t actually driven one.

Love the way the car grips the road like there's pine sap all over the tires, even on those hard bends. I've also seen his video with the GT3R and these two cars look like absolute delights zipping around corners while maintaining high speeds. What a car!

I love the tone of that exhaust.

The SMG box is brilliant ONCE its had a CSL software and rev match software updated (which anyone with a bit of knowledge can code this into their M3 for free). Most people complaining about these boxes either haven't driven one with the updated software or haven't had enough time to adjust to the box...Or have only driven them in their 'auto' setting. 99% of SMG owners will admit that once its been updated and they're familiar with the box, it's fun for the spirited drives. For argument's sake, the SMG isn't the best to potter around town in, especially in its auto mode. Auto mode is a NO GO, sequential mode is the way to go! In terms of reliability, some SMG pumps are prone to fail but back then it was expensive to replace etc. However, there are kits like Burkhart out there that can solve the pump issues for a very affordable price that also provide a warranty. I've had my M3 SMG for 5 years and not one problem has arisen from the box, I have recently replaced the detent springs and replaced the SMG oil and its still running superbly. Don't be so quick to slate the SMGs guys, there's a reason why the M3 CSL only came with the SMG 😉

I think we can all agree the 46 M3 is one of the best performing (I know it's not 500hp but where can you use that) and looking cars ever produced. Just today at the traffic lights a kid around 10 and his friend cycling across the road stopped and pointed at mine and said wow man that's such a cool car. It's a car that makes you smile while driving and while standing still. I first saw one in 2001 at 18 years old and 5 years ago I got one. Just in time too.
