Over the last year of exhaust changes on my M2 Comp, I have documented each step and I wanted to share that with you.
Making exhaust changes can have dramatic effect on the sound of your car, and as you look at downpipes, midpipes and back box options, ‪@TheActiveAutowerke‬ creates a full suite of options.
I wanted to document and share each change, as I would always ask on how each component sounds, but couldn't find a consistent source of information.
So.. I decided to create it instead! Thank you for checking this out, and see how these can update and change your car too.

Great job!!! I realize it's a TON of work doing this comparison but one other combo I'd love to hear is the complete AA El suite with the OE down pipes. I think it would really mellow out the rasp.

oh for sure and totally get that.. switched to upgraded DPs to gain a little power with the new tune. 8)

Great video. Quite surprisingly, you can really hear a significant difference between the setups. That Axle Back makes such a great step change! Wow!!

That's a great video, man - thanks for putting it together. Just wondering - did you ever try the combo with AA downpipes and non-resonated AB pipes? I know AA recommends using the resonated version if you have aftermarket downpipes, but I wonder what the non-resonated will sound with aftermarket downpipes.

So what was your final set up and the one you loved the most, I went from arm resonated catless DP’s , AA single non-resonated, oem non-performance muffler to arm resonated catless DP’s, AA EQ resonated midpipe, AA valved axleback, I’m torn between getting the single midpipe with resonators this time around because of the low deep sound it gives, right now I get some vibration on start-up with my current set up, I’ve gone over everything with a shop and nothing seems to be touching

That is a bummer on the vibration for sure.. any chance you have a loose clamp, so the ends of the cut pipes are touching? Random thought. I am catless, EL, resonated with the valved axleback and love it!

Thank you! I actually don't because my car isn't the best comparison for that, in a good way. I have done extensive soundskins throughout the doors and cabin for sound quality, and it's amazing. I can still EASILY hear my exhaust, but it doesn't sound like a stock cabin

Great job. I’m going with stock DP EL mid and valved box Should I get resonators ? Any issues with drone or with the reported “metallic” sound at low RPM ? Thanks

Nice! I’m still just running just the EL midpipe non-res everything else stock. When you say AB pipes resonated vs non-resonated …. Is that something different than my “non resonated EL midpipe”?

Correct, you can get two different versions of the AB pipes. I suspect your ABs are just straight pipes, nothing 'extra'? The resonated have integrated resonators on the ABs and will change the tone of the system as well.

Amazing video and sound! Really helped me to decide which brand and combo to go for. I'll be getting the AA EL mid pipe (straight) with the AA axle back box. I'll be keeping the stock downpipe. Did you get any CEL since your exhaust upgrade? M2 CS owner from Canada.

So I went catless DPs so would get a CEL but have it suppressed through my tune. Great choices on the setup!

@@BMWDIYGuy I see, so I would assume there should be no CEL if I stay with stock catted DP. Not considering an ECU tune at the moment, but is it required to run my setup?
