Being a McDonald's owner or franchisee is not the same thing as wanting to be McDonald's employee.....the difference is usually about 2 million dollars And I dunno about u,it doesn't matter how hard u work or how good u are as an employee.....McDonald's will never make u an owner/operator for free.

@@akaCypherrr thats why this video is fake and likely some promotional "channel" from mcdonalds.....god knows how many fake youtubers there are nowadays that are just corporate stooges...... this guy is 24 years old....he said he has been working at mcdonalds since 18 hoping they make him a owner/operator......like what 24 year old has the money to become a mcdonalds franchisee/owner? the cheapest subway franchise cost 200k at least and mcdonalds is primo S tier franchise.... notice how this guy doesnt talk about anything besides how to make stupid burgers and sauces and working at mcdonalds doing the kitchen grunt work? he doesnt talk about the business and finance stuff,the business and mathematics behind running a business like mcdonalds or anything....anything unique other than the usual crap....i dont care how goddam fast u put mayo and lettuce on the burger.....show me ur product revenues,what are ur best categories and loss leaders...how u refine ur process and attract more sales. dont give me that bullcrap about how u worked hard and sucked up to management and cold called them.....mcdonalds doesnt care how good a burger flipper u are.

i gotta say, fast food workers who take pride in their job and want to deliver good products are highly under appreciated. seriously you guys are sometimes the only place to get food after grueling shifts and making food well for the people who work in our country is not the easiest job. i really want america to get rid of the stigma that working at a fastfood place somehow indicates a low job. many people use it as a stepping stone in their lives and should really appreciate all the hard workers in our country who provide us a service that keeps us from having to cook and clean especially for those of us who suck ass at cooking lol also great job man for posting this to encourage americans again that you can love a work field and truly make it your strength as long as you work hard. it's true for everything in life and this is a great example of determination. well deserved

I totally agree with you. As an immigrant, i thought working at mc donalds has the image of ‘loosers job’. I have worked in restaurants. I dont eat fast food. So i couldnt get to see inside of their kitchen till i start doing doordash. I gotta tell you all fast food restaurant workers have my biggest respect. I love too see when they get their pride of work. They deserve it. It takes a lot of balls to work at there.

And one of the tuff positions as well. Every sandwich or order that requires a grill item is handled by him and he is the one who has to make sure all special order tickets are handled correctly. The next person in-line literally fills McNugget boxes of pita meat on what he has already prepared. This position easily Gets bogged down and is where most errors occur outside of incorrect order taking. There is also a video where there is a helper on the other side who is assigned quarter pounder orders only and is struggling during a rush well this gentleman is busting tickets out swamped he still has time to drop buns for the others guys quarters and even makes a few on his side in between his own orders. Most cases a person of management would never take that role on, be willing to do it in a rush nor help the helper who is meant to ease the pain of the prep line. They would usually lay into the helper who was not keeping up and instead this person worked as a team member to help The location complete the orders of their customers. It’s been 20+ years since I worked at a McDonald’s and if I had a leader/owner like this person I would never would have left and would have followed him n there steps to be an owner myself. Great work.

Great to see someone be able to move up the food chain like this. When I got hired at McDonald's it was by a guy who had been a shift manager for only 2 weeks, now as a friend of mine I got to see him work his way up to a store manager, which was a big deal for him back then. Definitely takes time and a lot of hard work but is possible with the right crew, management and support staff.

In 1985, when I was 15.5 years old, I started as crew at a corporate owned McDs (a very large and busy store on the east coast). By 19, I was in the Ops training program studying all of the SOPs, learning shift management skills, yields, inventories, etc. At 20, I was a salaried manager transferred to a smaller inner city store where I learned even more! By 22 I had moved on and kind of changed fields (hotel management), but I will always credit my experience with McDs for setting the foundation and helping to lift me to where I am today (Director of IT for a major global company based in NYC). Congratulations to you on your successes.

I worked at a McDonald's when I was 18 as a grill cook. I was astounded at how hectic it was. Now, when I go through a drive-through, I am very appreciative of what they do, even if I have a request like "no onions please." And, yes, I say please. This is a job an 18 year old can do, but it's not a walk in the park - it is stressful and a lot of attention to detail. They (we) got a lot wrong sometimes, and it still happens, but please don't think it's because we didn't care or that we're young and stupid. There is a lot going on. You're ordering once that day, but we're fulfilling hundreds of orders. All of that being said, yes - there are people in every job like this that don't give a shit and your order will be wrong, but mostly it's efficiency that dictates accuracy.

Ah, McDonald's. 1985. Peoria, AZ across the street from a high school with an open campus. That was back when the grill was...just a grill, with no moving parts and a timer mounted above it. I had the pleasure of the 4/1 grill. Quarter Pounders and McDLTs. You put the patties down, hit the button, and turned around to drop the buns in the toaster. About that time the "SEAR" tone went off, so you smashed them a bit and hit the button again, then turned around, snagged your buns, and started prep. Somewhere in there was a "TURN" tone, so you turned all the patties and hit the button again, then finished prep. When the "PULL" tone sounded, you pulled the patties, dealt them out, wrapped them, and tossed them in the chute. When all the kiddies started coming out the door of the school, I actually got a 2nd person for buns and prep, and could focus strictly on the grill...This was a good thing, as the 4/1 grill automatically went to a "12 TURN", which meant that I would put 12 patties down, and when I turned them another 12 went down. The folks over on the 10/1 grill were just as busy, and the fries were flowing as fast as they could fry, with baskets of fries stacked and ready to go in...no dispenser, just fill the baskets 1/2 full by hand. For breakfast, the 4/1 grill became the bacon/sausage grill, and the 10/1 grill became the egg/pancake grill. Round eggs went in the rings, then the rings were pulled and they were turned. Scrambled eggs were pre-broken before opening, mixed up and ready to be dipped onto the grill and scrambled by hand. It says something that I still remember my McD time after 35+ years. I eventually transitioned into a working as a short-order cook in cafes and truck stops, then joined the Navy and learned Telecom. I now pay the bills sitting at home remotely playing around in large phone systems...I rarely touch anything with less than 500 phones hanging off of it.

This is the video that made me subscribe. I worked at a McDonalds from 93-95 while going college. Just seeing the way the food is done now compared to then is shocking. We had a person that was toasting buns, one on the grill, one doing the assembly and the final wrap person who was in charge of the grill area. This is in the day where the food would be made and out in the bin for up to 10 minutes before disposal. When you were making burgers it was 12 at a time and heaven forbid a bus full of kids pulls up. Load the bin. This was also the era of the q machines aka microwaves. They would heat it up just a little bit more for the bin. The most amazing thing is seeing how the fries are done know. We had a rack of about 16 fry bins that would be filled in the back and brought up to fry. No refrigeration while they were waiting. Looking back that is the worst food safety thing you could do. Also when we closed for the night which it seems like most don’t now we had to clean those baskets. Those were the worst because the amount of grease that was on them. I will say that even back then the company tried their best to keep up with food safety and cleaning. The branded ready to go packets of McGreaser and sanitizer was actually nice. No need to measure. Fill this bin and add one pack type of deal. The store I worked at was a corporate store so we got to test out some of the new items and get feedback. Be glad the grilled chicken didn’t come out the way they planned it. Hard as hades bun, red onions that you had to soak and still were nasty, and a sauce that everyone said was nasty.

I was out of work, moved back to my parents, started working in a general store, and now - 6 years later, i am one of the owners, i got the possibility to purchase 25% ownership for 95.000$, and i did, i do earn well over 6 figures a year now. And future looking bright. I had no goals of achieving this, but eventually i was called by the boss and got this opportunity, and man, it changed my life.

Shorter version, pride in work. Biggest take away I have for being in the workforce for over a decade now is that it doesn’t matter where you are, things can always get much better or worse depending on your mindset. I seen people with a ton of opportunity throw it all away over a poor attitude and I seen people pull a 180 by changing it. Have a little faith and persistence, you will be surprised in how many doors open to you.
@aleigor450

It's good to have pride in work, but still need to be careful not to burn yourself, especially after nobody notices you. Be the best you can be in your shift, but don't work for free and don't continually do 60-80h work weeks, you're just going to burn yourself. Also 1 good story doesn't remove and all the unfortunate ones, luck is still involved and who you are working with.
@fortyninehike
@fortyninehike 2 жыл бұрын
@@aleigor450 There’s definitely toxic work places that people should get out of. The only things I’d add is that you’re never working for free. You get paid in a salary yes, but skill, discipline and reputation are other ways you’re paid. For me, I didn’t have kids when I was young so clocking out and continuing to work when something didn’t sit right with me was an option. Hammering away at my craft and getting better meant more to me than the pay. There’s also the what all the ifs. What if you kept pushing or what if I’m not really giving it my all. It’s sad to see, but I don’t most people in the US know what hard work really means. I had a coworker pissed about not getting being appreciated for his hard work, but would constantly dick around when no one was looking.

He was so commited to the dissertation that he started ranting and the whole class started humming either The Star Spangled Banner or the Marine Corp Hymn I cant remember know but it was like a scene from Animal House. I heard he owns a few in the NY area...

HOLD THE PHONE. Kentucky?!? I've noticed so many lil details in these videos that remind me of the quality training that I had years ago, also in KY. The "friends not lovers" line about the pickles, the attention to detail, total commitment to the Golden Standards, just so much. Is there any chance that the names "Bob & Tom" have anything to do with your beginning?

Exactly what I just commented. The struggle is "real" when your parents own multiple McDonald's franchises.

I'm glad it worked out for you. With me, it was the opposite. My first job was a company owned Taco Bell. The one thing that taught me is this is one thing I do not want a career in. I could write a book here of all these wrong, but won't. I might eat fast food, but want nothing to do with working in fast food. I finished college, went into I.T. where I can work literally my own hours without working like a slave and standing on my feet all day. The pay? ...Let's just say it's beyond comparing. I certainly wouldn't go back.

Can you also do a video of you doing back office duties (if you also do that yourself and didn't have someone else do it) but with the computer screen blurred out?

Great story. I didn't know mcdonalds was such a good career choice, glad I know now. For some reason I always thought working at McDonald's was a nightmare, but my view has changed now
