I would have left her. When she said OP wasn't her soul mate, that would be the end of the relationship for me. Idc if she was lashing out because she was worried chuck would be kicked out. Which is why there has to be some kind of penance for any transgression before they can be forgiven, in OP's case I would demand she minimize contact with the friend and to never involve herself into his life, they can be friends but never again can she hang out with him or share their problems, she has shown that she can't handle it.
