Funny about the comments about no arguments on your first trip, internationally. My wife and I travel internationally once a year. I travel a lot for work, so maneuvering around the airport is more natural for me. She gets excited (anxiety) with the airport hectic. I always try to stay calm. Love slow travel. Planning to start our slow travel journey in Europe with our dog after our youngest starts college in 3 years. Maybe and hopefully, we will run into each other.

Great video, thanks so much. One statement got my attention. 'In case you have an emergency at home, and you need to hop on a plane, make sure, that you have a little pool of money set aside.' Let me add: 'Make sure that you have a little pool of miles/points set aside.' Whereas last minute one ways paid with money can be outrageously expensive, award tickets can be available last minute at a very decent rate. And, it's a great hobby, actually my only hobby.

I loved going to Peru as my first South America trip - it actually ties as my favourite spot with Istanbul. It was extremely affordable, I felt very safe as a solo female traveler, the people are so warm and welcoming, there are a variety of cultures and ecosystems, and there is so much to learn about the knowledges and histories of the people indigenous to each area. I loved staying in Cusco, and I think you would both love it. Lima was a very clean city for a capital. And honestly, I loved my stay in the Peruvian Amazon and can’t wait to go back. Peru was so much more than just the touristy areas like Machu Picchu - there is so much to explore. And the food was pretty good with unique cuisines and flavour profiles.

We are not married and have traveled the world extensively over the last 23 years. We have been in dirt-floor airport terminals waiting for hours in the South Pacific etc and find that the most important factor in successful travel is being happy with the person sitting next to you and enjoying all the conversations you have not had with them yet. Unless you edit those portions out you guys seem to have it locked.

I’ve spent thousands of dollars on all the cameras and technology to do KZfaq but after traveling decided it was too much work, being a solo senior, and felt I was missing out on just the pleasure of being there. Great content and great sharing. Hope you enjoyed your Christmas time with family. A large blended family, hope that they all get along for you. Nice to be able to retire and travel so early. I am still hopeful (and working). You provide great insight, while I also appreciate that you have made choices too (like not doing sponsored ads). Your videos are on point and provide the answers to questions people want to know. You have shaped my travel plans like Viet Nam and Thailand and Turkey. I look forward to Part II and then the plans for 2024. Your plans for South America will be interesting to me. I have never been there, but I am intrigued. Any plans for Australia and New Zealand? Cheers to both.

Awesome video! Re: S America I like Montevideo, Uruguay and Santiago, Chile. Buenos Aires is, of course, a must. I’d want to go to Brazil & Peru, too. The cruise is a good idea, too. Definitely reach areas otherwise nearly unreachable-or at least expensive.

Interesting to hear your evolving thinking on residency in another country. We started-off with thoughts of moving to Spain, but like you, we are finding a range of benefits with long term trips abroad instead (at least for now). I'm looking forward to your logistics video!

Great seeing you guys back! Hope you had a great holiday. I'm glad that you're considering Buenos Aires. It's a really great city. I was there in December 2008 and got an apartment for part of the time that I was there. I had planned to be there in summer 2009, as I was totally booked back to Bangkok for the annual Dec/Jan trip, but at the last minute, the Yellow Shirts protested and closed down the international airport. So, I had to shift gears really fast and went to Buenos Aires instead. Being flexible is a key to travel. I also hope that you go to Brazil. It's a very interesting and diverse country. Greetings from Los Angeles

Start to finish great video... Agree 98 percent....lol. We found that being home is more stressful... Self inflicted trying to race around seeing everyone and making sure no one has hurt feelings.. We need to get better at planning a few extra weeks for a home visit... We're heading out in six days until July.... If you do South America next fall maybe we'll link up..... Sharing your video on FB as many people all us all these questions.... Safe travels, Merry Christmas and happy New year.. Larry and Minnie

I love the "how to pay fir costs part". My husband and I do the same. We are a "mature" aged couple. (I'm 60, he's 53.) We've only been married 6 months. We started out splitting costs that way when we were dating and traveling together. It's worked for us for years. He's used to getting an email with his bill! Thank you for sharing!

I can recommend Mar del Plata in Argentina, about 5 hours from BA by bus. It’s a very pleasant seaside city with a great promenade. Bariloche is also beautiful and there are many smaller cute mountain towns close by to explore. I haven’t been to Mendoza yet, but I’ve heard it’s also great and very relaxed compared to BA.
