Mrs. Guerrero has a right to be mad. Shana tried to use the fact that Mr. and Mrs. Guerrero were Latino against them. Accused them of drinking, accused them of being criminals. All in her early attempts to protect herself. These are behaviors she's had for a while, it's one of self preservation. Mrs. Guerrero didn't fall for it, she saw right through her. She's a pretty bright woman, I do hope that Mrs. Guerrero considers a career in Law, she would make an exceptional prosecuting attorney. She bore witness, and I heard and felt her anger, understood it. I just hope it doesn't consume her.

Then the Zetas was ran by the Treviño and Morales families. I can go on and on, as there are central and south American Cartels too. And no leaders have the last name of Guerrero. THIS DRIVER SAW THAT THIS COUPLE WERE LATINO AND WENT ON TO ACCUSE THEM FALSLY IN ORDER TO SAVE HER SKIN. She knows nothing about any of the Drug Cartel history. NONE... I'm noting that with you saying that Guerrero had a lead, they didn't The leaders of the Sinaloa cartel and the region were El Chapos crew, Last Name Guzman.

The life she had before the incident was stolen from her. Yes, she’s made a new family now and she can live her life, but she’ll never regain the life she had with Fabian and her first son. This experience will stay with her. That’s why she told Shana, “You stole my life.”

@@LeoMes01 Mostly because she was a repeat and repeat again offender. She is only clean now because she was forced to be clean by imprisonment. However, I don't think just doing drugs alone should land one in prison. But knowingly driving while intoxicated, and knowing the possible consequences - but doing it anyway, sorry....no pity for Shana here.

If it were not so powerful and cunning one could simply put it down and not use again. Victims do not think about that, they are angry. It’s still seen as a character flaw. It’s not. It can happen to anyone.

This is impressive. Not only did she save her tears for after this statement (I am assuming she likely succumbed after she held it in for as long as she did), she perfectly eviscerates all of the cliches that "remorseful" drunk drivers use when they say they are sorry and beg for forgiveness for the wrath they impose on others. She even makes sure the only profanity used is well placed and calculated. She also makes sure to level appropriate ire at all of the people (family and friends) who enabled this incredibly selfish person. I'm guessing her resolve will be just as strong when the parole hearings come up.

I'm so sorry you've had to endure something so painful. My heart hurts for anyone suffering so senselessly. Some inconsiderate and sometimes even hateful person decides to get drunk and drive. The amount of strength this brave women has! I hope she is healing. But, damn, this is so powerful I feel like I did it. Like anyone else feel like a shit person after this? This speech got through my soul. I'm half devastated for her and half contemplating my life choices...and I don't even drive. (I live in NYC)

A very powerful impact statement. She has every right to feel the way she does! Very strong woman! I pray this starts the healing process for her because it’s going to be a long road. But continued anger and un-forgiveness toward someone still gives that person some what of control of your life. So I hope she forgives so that her heart can find some peace. The forgiveness is NOT for the defendant; it’s solely for this woman.
