One thing about Mick's solos: back in the day, they weren't as flashy as other bands, which had blazing speed and pyrotechnics. But, being blues-based, Mick's solos have arguably stood the test of time better than those other bands.

At the time the rock/metal guitar world was all about "shred shred shred, speed speed speed" but honestly... nobody but other guitar players and wannabes really gives a shit about that. The average music fan just wants a cool riff and something they can sing along with. Guitar nerds think of EVH as a shredder, but the real reason he was so huge is because he played catchy riffs, hooks and melodies that someone who never picked up an instrument could remember and hum to themselves. Mars was very different from EVH of course, but he just didn't fall into that shred trap. He wrote melodies and hooks, and that's what usually makes a song a hit. Even today the world is FULL of shredders who can tap all day and play fast as hell... but they never get anywhere because they can't write a song or memorable solo to save their lives.

The Crue stand out amongst their 80's peers due to them literally being a "Motley Crue".. An eclectic group of guys with different backgrounds and styles and Mick especially as he was older and 70's guitarist into the blues, playing in an 80's hard rock/metal/glam band.. I don't think the Crue could have existed or had their success without those 4 individuals!. People like to bash Nikki, but they fail to realize (or don't know) that he writes All the lyrics and is the main songwriter, regardless of his simple bass lines!..

Vince Neil always sucked live. Never sang all the words, never sang them the same - he used to piss me off because he ruined the fucking songs. I saw them 3 times and he sucked every time.

I saw them for the first time at MSA on their Shout tour opening for Ozzy on his Bark At The Moon tour.

Reissued the cassette! I had the 4 way split portrait cover as a little kid in the mid 80's. So, as far as most kids copies ( vinyl wasnt "hip" in the mid to late 80's) it was the portrait. You can still find pentagram LP's in second hand stores and record bins. How come I never see "Too fast &Shout" on cd in the stores? Awaiting reissue?

Twisted Sister definitely had it's revolving door before they hit it big. I wish I could hear or see what they sounded like with the earlier incarnations. Especially the one with the black guy in the band. Jay Jay, post that stuff. LOL.

Mick was/is a VERY underrated guitar player NO doubt.

Micks tone is one of the best tones from the 80s imo. And yes he is very underrated. Motley crue is one of the biggest bands of all time let alone of the 80s and his guitar riffs are what made all of those songs

Well , i dont know now. Lets see, i was only 8 when sout at the devil came out, well, and im not sure. It depends. Was it released in 83 or 84. Regardless i fucking loved it- at that age. Now going back tothe comment that no one had this sound at the time. We know there were other metal bands out there at the time but the sound of music flipped over night when it came to the transition of music from 79-80. But with shout at the devil i have to agree. In terms of modern metal this album really does. to me, should take alot of credit. I mean, sure there was ratt-out of the cellar. Now im pretty sure shout at the devil came first and both groups had an album out prior tut o shout at the devil, but shout at the devil really delivered the modern metal sound to us. I mean around this time the metal scene exploded. So it would be hard to pinpoint which band created. It eveolved from feeding off of others in the same scene maybe. Hell who knows. I still have a spot in my heart for metal but lemme just say. Thank "whatever" for me discovering black flag- my war when i was 11 yrs old. Never looked back.

NOW, it's pink. 😒 And also, NOW they're more of a joke with the awful Smoking in the Boyz room video and cover song (for a hit!), the infamous Home Sweet Home ballad etc. But yeah, LOTTA stinkers on Theater as it WAS one of the biggest disappointments for MOST "true old school CRUE heads" like myself and many others....And just when ya thought the music couldn't get ANY worse or bland? On Through The Night, and High N Dry were much better and way more high energy. "High" was my first concert, with Ozzy and Randy, in a small musical theater. I remember it vividly and would put both acts on equal ground then. When I saw Leppard later, I was sorely disappointed.
