I used the We Card Challenge to build a new Program/Team at work. It was amazing how much we laughed and learned about each other. We learned similarities as well as differences which is turn makes us a stronger ground. I purchased my We cards and encouraged my Team members to print a version as we all work with groups across the state of KY and they are a great people connector.

So excellent! I'm actually traveling to Lexington, KY to speak at a conference of 800 school coordinators who work to make lives better for family and youth in Kentucky! And of course we'll be doing a question swap-and much more- there 👍👍

That is an amazing story and shows the power of connection. I have a new leadership program where the students just completed 11 training sessions (13 if you count the 2 on-boarding days). I started with modeling the way of Connection Before Content and using these cards in the first on-boarding day. We did another connection activity the second day---and the 11 training days after--THEY had to do them. I was thinking that they would each do one day and be over it but they LOVE asking questions and really connecting with each other. All it took was 10-15 minutes of these cards to set the tone to build one awesome team who loves Connection Before Content. We did ZERO business before their Connection activity was finished. The conversations they had throughout the training was amazing and when they were providing suggestions and feedback on our 6 leadership workshop presentations (that they were learning how to present) they did not hold back!! They could have said "oh that works" "that's a great presentation" and gone on to learn it as it was---but they felt comfortable on our team every day giving feedback, suggestions, support, and encouragement. One of the coolest student groups and forming of a group I have ever seen---and I have advise quite a few. Long story short---Conversation Starter Cards work and make an impact if you are intentional and sincere. PS: I love that name....yay for Kelsey's and happy endings! Thanks for sharing Chad!

I use these consistently and regularly. They work great both in person and virtually. They genuinely do help set the stage for engagement. And generally, I am able to find questions that are pertinent to what we are meeting to discuss or what I've been asked to present. 'Consumers' truly do become contributors and it is not simply me spilling out information in one direction. These cards are golden and they have helped me to spin off some additional questions.

Love it, Dave! And if you add a phrase like "...related to [TOPIC]?" to the end of nearly every question...you have a super context specific and on-purpose set of questions too 👍👍

I use your deck of cards all the time! Recently while on a long car trip with my teenagers we used the deck of cards to ask each other questions and had lots of laughs and good conversation and they discovered they can actually talk to their parents! I have also used your other cards (the ones with the pictures) with my high school baseball team with great results.

I LOVE it!!!!! So pumped to have contributed in a small way to the change in perspective that parents are also people too! And most of them have quite rich and interesting stories to tell! 🙂

Fantastic! Very much love hearing that. Challenge for the next team meeting: simply ask "what else?" after everyone answers. The magic of a second question can really unlock some hidden gems!

I love these cards! When I first opened them and went through them, my first thought was - I've now got some great openers for online dating lol Now with the story that this might result in marriage, I'm totally using them! Plus of course they'll get used in the professional setting that I originally bought them for - so great for getting engagement

Haha! I spent 2 years refining and testing this specific list of 60 questions to be especially effective at building relationships of trust. Which is useful on a date-or a classroom...or a boardroom....or a living room 😊

Right! The definition of "belonging" that I give in this video always feels ESPECIALLY relevant to transfer students coming into a world where many social networks have already formed: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rqqSp9x708jIqIU.html

I'm someone who's known for asking atypical questions. In general, people love this. They look forward to it. They even seek it out. Ideally (according to my ideal anyway), this models the use of thoughtful, fun questions in a way that gets people curious, excited and open to trying it themselves. AND... I've found it can also occasionally create a couple of dynamics that ARE NOT ideal. 1.) People aren't used to thoughtful questions paired with real listening (yet), and so they wind up feeling like they are somehow being interrogated, psychoanalyzed or some other way that definitely isn't the intention. 2.) People enjoy my brand of thoughtful questions, and yet an unintentionally imbalance in the dynamic is created, where they expect me to ask such questions but never ask me any of their own-which can cause ME to feel like I'm being fit into the role of therapist (or, at the very least, "cruise director") rather than an equal participant in conversation. In either case, I've found We! Connect cards (both the physical and the digital decks) helpful. Because I am not the originator of the questions, there is no misreading of motives. And because the question are external to myself, they naturally set a balanced expectation that we will BOTH answer the questions. So We! Connect cards are terrific for people who want to have more meaningful connections, but who don't (yet) know how to ask "those kinds" of questions, AND... ... they are also terrific for those who DO.

Indeed, a buddy used to say "a conversation without self-disclosure is an interrogation." When I first moved to a new city, I would actually start asking people halfway through a conversation, "so what are you curious to know about right now?" Because questions aren't our default, I learned over time to just ask for them haha. Worked mostly very well when delivered smoothly and with a pinch of empathy.

These are brill, I printed them out and used it during a team building session - I was facilitator and it wasn't my team - they loved it and wow, they bonded so well during the day, Im now being asked by other teams within my organisation to run similar team building sessions. Also asked where did I get these cards from. Keep the videos coming Chad.

I use these in my science class as part of getting to know my students. I often share my answer first in the beginning but then typically see them participate with some enthusiasm in the next ckasses😊

I LOVE it, Michelle! Fun idea for later in the year...you can actually add a phrase like "...related to science?" to the end of nearly every question and now you have an entire deck of awesome on-topic questions. For example: what is something you know really well....related to science? What is one of your favorite topics of conversation...related to science? What is one part of yourself that you'd like to improve...related to science? 👍👍
