Natural sea salt is not as strong as the usual table salt we buy. It certainly tastes a lot better, you must try it if you haven’t done yet.
We Cypriots love natural sea salt on our food. We collect it from the rocks near the sea. Salty sea water from the waves gets cought in the small rocky pools and slowly the hot sun evaporates the water leaving behind the sea salt to be picked up. It has an oily texture and all you need to do is dry it in the sun before you can store it away or use it on your food.
There is plenty of sea salt available in the summer months. You just have to find the right place. Do not take sea salt from a place that many people visit often as you can’t know for sure that it’s clean… Look for clean sea salt at a remote beach that people do not go there. If the whole area looks very clean to you then you can collect it.
Here we went to Akamas national park near Karavopetres locality in Paphos, Cyprus. It’s one and half hour off road drive before you can get here.
