He went off script and Marlon was waiting for the director to cut, but since the director didn't cut, you stay in character. Especially when you're a producer and on screen, you have to stay in character more than anyone else a scene can't break because of you, as a producer, you're costing yourself money etc. He was stunned because he didn't expect Terry to go off script. Terry is a great actor but he's one of those actors that typically NEVER adlib or go off script, he wants the directors vision. This was uncharacteristic of him, but if you've ever been doing you and your jam comes on, your entire vibe changes. So he was like, "where is this going" but Terry knew, this was HIS scene. Which it is, it's HIS scene, his only true scene in the entire movie. He loved it. You can act sure, but you can't act genuine on que. That's why it remained in. It MAKES his movies character. I think honestly this was the most important scene for his character in the entire movie. Showe vulnerable but he's also masculine af so it's just a shock to everyone. I think it's super nice. I love this song and many other pop songs from back in the day, but as a super masculine man it sucked to never feel comfortable to enjoy shit, but Terry in this movie got me over all that. I sang and wrote for a band for years after this. I've done so many female covers lol, idc. If its good its good and there ain't no way I'm going downtown without the jams.
