Love your blouse, pattern and fabric. You have such a beautiful “style😋, Joy. I always make sure I catch all your videos. My friends don’t sew, and you are my inspiration. Thank you, Joy, so much for being here “for me.”

I've only watched the first 17 mins but I have to say I love all the fabrics! And there's NO reason you can't make them all! At our age we don't have time to limit ourselves 😊
@sheilasztanyo34783 ай бұрын
Joy. I saw the uneven cuffs on your sleeve and the extra fulness in the front. So glad that you saw it as well and making the fix. You sew beautifully and the top is pretty on you. I love floral prints as well, but the paisley is a nice change.. I'm in my seventies and I think that we know what looks and feels good on us at this age.

Hi Joy, I'm so happy to see you again, I've been off KZfaq. I wanted to tell you, I like you in everything but as you know it doesn't always depend on the pattern you use, sometimes it depends on the type of fabric and I noticed that the cotton-type fabrics don't look as good on you as the softer, slinky fabrics. Ok now that I got that off my chest, I want you to know how much I love your sewing, pattern choosing and most of all how you show how making a pattern fits you. When I was in my 20s and 30s I could just cut out the pattern and it fit me, like magic, I think in my 80's I figured out that no longer works. At first, I blamed the pattern company, then realized it was not their fault! The fault was mine. My body has changed and now I get to not only enjoy watching you, I also get to profit from your pattern-fitting wisdom. Thank you, Joy. I have so much to tell you but it will have to wait until next time.

I totally understand about patterns fitting perfect in my 20s and 30s. Our bodies just refuse to stay the same, don't they?

Joy the blue top with the vneck and fabric strips across the neck, wearing with the black pants - looks great on you. And yes - always buy alittle extra fabric just in case!
@janegilson18863 ай бұрын
Hi Joy! Omgosh, I just watched the two girls swap clothes. It's soooo true - we need to stick with what works for US. Just because a dress or top looks good on someone - doesn't mean it will automatically look good un us -- even if we're the same "shape". We really DO need to wear things that suit our own style. That video was great. Thanks for recommending it.

THANK YOU Joy for such a wonderful review on our Style Swap Challenge video, we're so pleased you enjoyed it! 🥰 It's been really interesting hearing everyone's opinions, which is great as our underlying message was to wear what YOU love and what makes YOU feel good 😍 You are right, we did kind of meet online after Sian had looked up a Colour Analysis consultation and came across my website and from there a great friendship was formed🥰 and somehow Sian convinced me to launch my own KZfaq channel last month and as we dress in completely different styles, the idea was formed and the Style Swap video created for all to enjoy and giggle along with us 🤣🥰 (P.S, I LOVE the blue floral shirt and pink trouser combo you're wearing, really suits you 😍) xx

Because you are so good about buying extra fabric maybe you could cut your next (appropriate for the design) blouse on the bias. I’ve heard the cotton will drape rather than be stiff. Might be fun to try.

I like both the fit and the prints of the short sleeve blouses you wear. The prints and colours are very becoming. Same for the Peggy blouse, although you look even better in more shaped tops. The fabrics look also softer, lighter than the fabric of the 3/4 sleeve blouse. I think, to be honest, it would make a nice night gown, but it still looks a little too large for you, too straight down, especially in the back. It is also a little too pale for you, I miss some contrasting colour. In a knit it might look differently, but of course it is my personal opnion. I have the same issue with a cuff in a silk blouse, I still have to get it parallel to the ground or I shall shorten the sleeve altogether, unless I 'll add an elbow dart. Beautiful choice of fabrics, flowers are my favourite. There was a bright blue fabric in your stash I also liked very much. Great tip about the dart. I always think of fish eye darts when it comes to vertical ones.

Dear Joy, when I was 20 years old I went to 2 classes. One was to identify what colors looked best in me and the other was called "styles for your figure". Best thing I ever did. Especially when I had to work in an office setting for 30 years. I mean you gain and lose weight but shapes don't change much.

Hi Joy! Your snippets are so fun. I have made the Simplicity top also. I love love love the sleeve detail. It is so pretty and different. I made mine out of a flowy rayon, it draped fine but was a bit too full for my liking. I don’t like the slit neckline and plan on not doing that the next time and lowering the neck a bit. I also do not like clothing touching my neck. The video with Nicola and Siam was fun. I have watched Sian for years and she looked so frumpy in Nicola’s clothes even though Nicola didn’t.

Hello Joy I love that top Could you make the side seam have more of a curve from armpit to top of the side slit to bring the blouse in so it doesn't stand out on the body .not as boxy. Does that make sense If you make the pattern in a lighter cotton it may drape better on you I have noticed that some quilting cotton is stiffer not as soft as others. Depending on where you get it and the brand it is Of course it will soften over Time with washing Love that top length is perfect with slim jeans Always enjoy your videos Take care Happy sewing

Regarding the sleeve issue, I wonder if you could just take a tuck at the under arm seam until you thought it was straight. Then you could measure the tuck and know how much to change your pattern. I do really like the sleeves on this pattern; they are cute.

Such a comfy blouse to wear and enjoyable to make. I have a question for you. Why do you sew so many clothes with quilting cottons? I love to experiement with different fabrics.
