Great video and great idea on the skid plate, what guage sheet metal is that 8? I have a 2005 Ford F250 6.0 superduty and looking at doing the very same thing. Also looking at running it to my upfitter switches (1 which is a 30 amp and 3 which is a 10 amp) which I just installed after not finding anything on a 2005 model which I will upload so no one else has to suffer thru that also. Then looking at using a relay to use my regular horn and then switching to train horns also. Again great job and thanks for the idea K

I love the video. It seems like something I’d like to try. I have two questions. One, do you need to worry about water pooling on the plate or will it drain out? And two, I’ve looked up two compressors like the one you used. One can fill faster but will cut off after 20 minutes and the other fills slower but will run for an hour or so. Which did you use ? Sorry if i missed it somewhere if you mentioned it. Thanks again for the tutorial.
@funbro1
@funbro1 3 жыл бұрын
The water drained out pretty well, I've never had an issue with it getting wet. For this application I went with the continuous duty OBA system. It takes a while to fill the tank but it seems to work good. Thanks for watching.

@funbro1
@funbro1 4 жыл бұрын
The compressor is good so far and reliable. I don't think it would run an air tool...even with a 8-10 gallon tank the compressor is too small to keep up. You will need to match the SCFM of the compressor to the tool that you want to use. Thanks for watching.

Also a good idea to use some Dielectric Grease for the ground or wire connections exposed. Rust will corrode away and you will lose ground or power. That connector is likely to get knocked loose driving over stuff. Backing into a Bush etc.

So how big of a compressor can you run. I’m not to knowledgeable in this department but i am wanting set up a tank a fair bit bigger than this to air up commercial/farm tires every now and then. I’m assuming i’d need a larger battery and would need to keep my truck running?
@funbro1

The compressor that I installed in this set up was a relatively small compressor. It takes a while for it to fill up the 2 gallon tank. I’m not sure how big of compressor I could have went with but I’m sure there is a much larger one than the one that I installed. Hope this answers your question, thanks for watching.

Awesome job! So ive got a oil-less compressor that had a 2.5hp craftsman electric motor on it. (Well still has the motor on it) The motor has given up. I want to set up the air compressor with an a/c compressor's 12v clutch pulley and run it off the 2.5L 4cyl in my Subaru Baja and put the tank where the spare tire used to be up under the bed. Then i can turn on and off the clutch with a switch on the dash. Please! All advice is welcomed! Questions? Comments? Concerns?
