As I said earlier, I started watching all your videos recently.. for a novice like me, your channel is encyclopedia.. whenever a questions comes up there is a video to it.. Hi sir, have watched all your videos, very informative and useful. Have been investing for 4yrs. But first time calculating XIRR. Thanks a lot for the nice Excel sheet. I made one correction in 'XIRR with selling ' for total current value. For the units sold, I think we have to subtract the current value of sold units , instead of value during sold date

Thank you VM !!! Although it will be useful for the beginners who are new to investing, this will be helpful to calculate XIRR on their recent investments journey. But what about the seasoned investors who have been investing for the past 5 years ? Do they have to go back to their Investments Histories to find the dates, purchase prices and then do the XIRR calculations?

@@KarthikeyanRamaswami It is just another row for that positive cash flow that is all. Say that you are selling VTI for $3000 on May 16, you will add that as a positive cash flow entry (as you are taking the money out). That is all.

Also, what do put in the Current Value column for the shares SOLD ? Zero ? Won't the previously BOUGHT Shares (of the same company) Current Value mess up with XIRR if we already SOLD few shares of the same ?

@@KarthikeyanRamaswami Good point. So when you sell a stock, the "invested money" column will have sales proceeds as a positive value. And the current value cell needs to be updated to be negative of sales proceeds value, so that the current total value reflects the right current total value. let me see if I can add another table that can accommodate for sold units as well, so that it is clear for data entry.
