I think the perspective is mocking you. There are no ups and downs, it is just more or less up.

In fact, it is the cable's own weight that keeps it glued to the pulleys despite the curve. This curve passing from the 0% to the 39% slope is more gradual than the arrow of the cable, and therefore it remains stuck to the track. It's the same curve that can be seen on the aerial cable cars between 2 pylons.

Under the driver's seat the wheels on this (left side) of the unit have a dual flange (both sides of wheel like a mono rail's U shaped wheel) thus the unit we are in - will ALWAYS go to this side of the passing loop. never going to the other side. That way - instead of having to have switch gear as well as some way of avoiding a wheel flange, cutting the haul-cables, the only wheels with a flange, have a double flange - and ONLY use the outside rail Inside wheels are a LOT wider, with no flange (ensuring that they never need to be "switched" or to use frogs either, but simply roll along on the top of everything. It's highly efficient for a there & back using the same passing part of the midway loop - yet is a completely unsuitable design for a normal railway system. Hence why - whenever one unit goes UP, the other must come down (to both meet & pass each other in this fashion) & visa versa. IF however, that cable should break - or if they need both units down at the bottom, this unit will still use, this LH side of that passing loop.

Not a joyride but a quick way to go up the mountains to various ski slopes. You can still hike your way up if you want, however it will take much more time.
