I remember this little kid (about 7 yrs) I met in Afghanistan. Sweetest little guy I ever met. He asked me about America and I showed him a picture of my mom standing in front of the Statue of Liberty. When I told him I came from California, he asked if I met celebrities. I said no and explained that meeting celebrities on the street was really rare. I didn't have the heart to tell him Michael Jackson was dead so I lied. After a few days, I didn't see him around and asked my friends if they saw him. They said no and I moved on. Next couple of days, we patrol a part of the village I haven't seen yet. I see a little lump in the street and take out my binoculars to see if it's anything dangerous. I regret ever looking into my binoculars and ignoring the lump in the street because it's him... dead. I discover that a local sociopath raped and killed him. I couldn't do anything because your supposed to ignore these things. I cried my heart out that night because that kid deserved the world. Rest in Peace little guy...

You know what’s sad? He made the sounds he hears everyday.

Something funny you realize when you travel is that kids are the same pretty much anywhere. It makes me wonder if the things that divide us once we grow up aren't entirely manufactured. We learn to hate as we're brought up and that is incredibly sad.

i don't know about anything he is saying but a kid of age 10 making sound of MG or rifles you can imagine how their life is going in Afghanistan. LOVE FOR AFGHAN Brothers. We made a lot more mistakes that we faced in the shape of Bengal and afghan Clashes.

I heard many times that Afghans are really friendly and cool people. They hate religious extremists as much as we do.

A lot of the Afghan kids we ran into start off nice and sweet, then they start begging for candy or drinks, and when you tell them you don't have any they resort to throwing rocks.
