I don´t think Chapter 2 was bad. In the end they just made an adaptation of the book. And, more so, it may not be or feel as great as the first part but it has also to do with how they decided to split the story in two parts. And the story of the adults was never the best part. So, add to that that Chapter 2 was mainly them it´s in no way to blame the director or the writer.
