Here's a little trick to set up the vWii: you don't need a tv and sensor bar, the gamepad can be used to replace those and has itself an integrated sensor bar.

Awesome to hear! and for the wii, you can use a wad manager (I suggest YAWM modmii edition) to install wads to your vwii. If you want to play games, you can set up usb loader gx or Wiiflow :)

Was helping my friend mod their 3ds, needed to use the format tool, he chose the C: drive, it didn’t erase so you should be fine if you do that but probably not a great idea.

Hi @FunkyScott47. Thank you so much for this walkthrough. I modded my Wii U successfully. I also did a physical mod by installing a 2tb SSD drive inside the console itself. I noticed that the Homebrew apps disappear once I remove the SD card from the console and boot it up. I'm assuming they are stored only on the SD card. Is there a way to move them to my internal SSD that I installed?

Scott, thanks so much for making your videos. They are truly invaluable. I do have a specific question in regards to GBA emulation. I am having speed issues with VBA-GX on my Wii U and want to try mGBA. Problem is I get a black screen on start up, tried both Tiramisu and Aroma. When the update finishes for the vwii, when i press home it only puts the pink line in the middle for a second then freezes and i have to shut the wiiu off, it doesn't harm anything but its really inconvenient because i only really did this for the vwii

Funkyscott47. I followed your guide a couple years ago and added the virtual Wii and homebrew. It work fine til about a month ago. Now it doesn’t load the games from the external hard drive. I’m not sure if my 7 year old son may have hit something and messed it up or what. When I look at the hard drive on pc all games are still there. Do you have any suggestions? Can I follow this guide and set it up again after I have already setup home brew previously?

When i did the NAND backup there were only 14 mlc files and it seemed like there was an error with the download to the SD. The MicroSD card said there were only 29.8 gb available i think. Is this a problem? Otherwise everything seems to be included

I used a 32 GB SD card and ran out of storage space during mlc part 14's download. I've got everything else and mlc parts 1 through 13. Should I re-dump the Nand, or should I just ignore that?

I've got a bit of a problem that occurred... I was installing Homebrew for the vWii, but as I got to the "Press HOME to exit" text, my Wii U seemed to crash. What should I do? Has my Wii U just bricked? Is it safe to hard restart it by removing the power supply? It won't turn off by itself...

Same here, I forced shut down on console rebooted.. Homebrew worked fine ! However i got an error on the D2X install. Something about 5919 version wrong, I should have screen shotted can't remember. OK update!!! Fixed I exited out.. restarted menu and tried again, press the down key instead of hitting A button like the video at DX2 start screen. Use down to scroll.. The setting were below, I followed everything else installed prefect.

I'm coming from Tiramisu, when i switch to aroma environment i have two sets of homebrew apps (eg. Savemii wut) is it ok to delete the tiramisu version or should I just leave it alone?

Personally, I've only stayed with the Aroma version of each app. I think you can delete the Tiramisu ones, if you don't plan on using them anymore That being said, if an app doesn't exist as a .wuhb, it'll be better for you to keep the old version

Hey Scott, this is an excellent guide but I am just having some issues at 12:33. I’m holding down X after hitting run exploit and it takes me to the blue screen to default select aroma. Once I select it I am brought to the red warning screen (which is now yellow) but once I click a to continue I am taken back to the Wii U menu and won’t take me to the screen at 13:02. Once back in the menu none of the apps are on the main menu to progress further but I am able to open the configuration menu with the button combination. I wasn’t too sure what was wrong though. I have tried shutting down the whole console, taking the disc and sd card out but nothing is working. Is this an issue with my wii u? Is there possibly a file that has changed? Hoping you can help me out

Nice, although, at 11:44 where did you get the info.json and manifest.install files? After I did the nand backup they did not appear like you did. Also, I wasnt able to open the plugin menu at 16:53. And the home button doesnt work on some of the softwares, I am forced to restart the console to exit the screen.

Those files are not necessary, I should have mentioned that in the video, my bad. If you are successfully in the aroma cfw, the plug in menu should pop up unless your gamepad buttons are broken

If one of my WiiU gets a 160-0103 when trying to go into the system settings mean the nand is shot? I tried the raspberry pi pico method to fix it with no luck. Wondering if modding it would fix it or it's done for?

Greeting, I have a problem with the game in question. Namely, I converted the WBFS file to the Wii U installation folder via TeconMoon's WiiVC Injector and everything works great except that I can't record the progress because I can't select my Mii profile. In the game it says I need to create a profile but I have my Wii U profile, but it doesn't recognize it. Wii U games don't have that problem. Is there a solution to this problem? Thanks in advance

Hey dude. Love your channel! So I modded my wiiu last week, and now trying to get forwarders to my wiiu homescreen for Nintendont and USB loader. I cant seem to find a newish video anywhere so I used your "BEST Wii U Homebrew Channels (Boot2vWii) USB Loader GX, WiiFlow, CTGP-R, Nintendont Wii U Channel" video, but as others also have commented, I also get booted back to the wiiu homescreen after 10-15 seconds. Is that video, or the links outdated or is it something to do with your mentioning the "Id and uninstall that", and I'm not techy, so if I dont see you doing it on screen I'm not doing it! ;) Any help, ideas?

I just bought a wii u with this issue(failed to load sd /wiiu/payload.elf) every time i turn on the console, it doesn't have an SD card. Is that a problem if I buy another sd card to homebrew the console or that means it's already hombrewed and is nothing I can do without the old sd card?

hey so yesterday it was working fine but today when I tried to load the wii u all I got was a black screen, the wii u without the sd card loads just fine but with it it doesn't work. Hi thanks for your videos, recently I can't play games on the Wii U (tells me the network ID was erased), I tried replacing the sigpatches but didn't work. I came up to the conclusion that my hacked Wii u was not up to date, how/ should I erased everything related to the hack so that I can re hack with this new Tuto for a fresh start? Please answer I'm on the verge of a nervous breakdown lol

17:30 When I press 'A' to install, it tells me that it installed successfully. However when I press the home button, the console freezes completely. Is there a fix for this?

Just fixed it. I turned off then turned on the wii u and it worked. It was indeed installed successfully

@reye-yo8wi Finally it worked 😭 Someone told me to do that on the discord but unfortunately for me it still wouldn't show up. I decided to take a break for a couple days and decided to try it again right now, and thankfully it worked! Not sure why it didn't work the first few times but oh well I guess 😅

@supertimsupertim Yes. Just restart your console and check if the homebrew channel has popped up on the vwii menu. If not then keep trying again until it does. Like I said, I ended up taking a break and leaving the console untouched for 2 days before trying again and it finally worked (Not sure why that is). So if it doesn't work right now, maybe try again in a few hours or tomorrow?

Ive got a 1tb harddrive connected to the wii u and got some of my back up games stored on there, if i go into the wii side of wiiu and to usb loader and nintendont will it add my game cube and wii games to that hardrive or do i need to attach another hardrive just for when in wii mode

You should use another one, assuming that your 1TB drive is already formatted by your Wii U and it won’t be recognized by your vWii homebrew apps
