Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti is a biopic about the life and times of the fearless & renowned Nigerian activist and suffragist. The film focuses on a period in her life in the 1940's when she led a revolution against the traditional rulers in Egba land over unfair taxes being imposed on market women. One of the many hallmarks in the life of the legendary educator, reformer, women's activist, suffragist and political campaigner.
Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti stars Kehinde Bankole, Omowunmi Dada, Ibrahim Suleiman, Jide Kosoko, Dele Odule, Salami Adebayo, Joke Silva, Adunni Ade, Atlanta Bridget Johnson, Keppy Ekpeyong, Bikiya Graham Douglas, Shawn Faqua, Yeni Kuti, tracey George, Yewande Osamein and Kunle Kuti. The film is produced and directed by Bolanle Austen-Peters.

Jide Kosoko is indeed very agreeable to work with. He's a Jolly good daddy. No drama whatsoever. Very disciplined too

There was no TV (at the time of the riots) just radio, newspaper and telegram. Awolowo introduced the first TV station (WNTV Ibadan) in Nigeria years later. Kehinde is an excellent actress. I first saw her in October 1 by Kunle Afolayan years ago. She has depth and range. Bolanle Austen Peters is good at meaningful films. Excellent film👏🏾🇺🇸

7,500! Aren't prices uniform based on things like release time (opening weekend), weekday (like promos) etc? Do they just stamp prices arbitrarily? Kehinde Bankole… we don't deserve her. The way her voice cracked, the humility of her performance - she made me so emotional. I should look for interviews. And yes, winning for Adire is some bullshit. As far as his acting in general, I think Ibrahim has just not been given the right material. But as far as him not being of the culture, I'd agree. Not sure he speaks Yoruba.

Powerful movie... l cried when she was beaten & came back and when her husband died with the song Orekelewa playing at the background. It's a thought provoking movie esp that we don't have many historic movies around, abi abeg help me count... So these are some movie titles l extracted from the movie that l'm curious about for filmakers to run with: 1. Margaret Ekpo 2. Jaja of Opobo 3. Divide and rule 4. Dundee United 5. Power of the vagina 😅

Bolanle Austin Peters is a Fantastic Director who is articulate and can bring out the best in any actors that is ready to learn... Funmilayo Ransome Kuti was a wonderful watch for me... Kehinde did really well... and looking forward to BAP next direction House of Gaa comes July 26th 2024 let me see what she did with the film. Well done Tito 👏 ✔️ good review👍 🎉
