You mentioned you'd take a job doing sounds for films. The people who do that are called Foley artists, and they basically spend their days in a sound studio trying to create sounds for movies and such. I only know this because I'm a writer in advertising and I've had to go to my share of "Foley sessions" to help decide what sounds are best for the TV commercials I've written/produced. Years ago, I did a BMW commercial that featured a CGI penguin, so I attended the foley session at the Warner Bros sound studios in Hollywood. It was a fun experience watching a large 60-year-old man making the sounds of a little penguin walking through the snow. The sound they used for the penguin letting out a huge sigh was actually done by me, so I've got that going for me. Anyway, that Foley thing does look like a fun gig.

There are a couple that should have been included in this list. There are some very funny ones from an insurance company called "Centraal Beheer". Too many of their commercials to list, but maybe the Picknick one or the Acupunctuur commercial is funny. You don't need subtitles or translations for any of them, it all relies on visual story telling. Then there is the "fake" Mastercard commercial called "Priceless" that was originally a comedy skit, also very funny and I wish that would have aired on TV. I would have absolutely gotten a Mastercard because of that one!

Seeing the Antônio Carlos Jobim "Água de Beber" recommendation, I am reminded of his "Waters of March" ("Águas de Março"), which I first heard on Art Garfunkel's second solo album, "Breakaway" during the mid-70's. Jobim seemingly had a preoccupation with water, at least as far as song titles are concerned, that is, as the latter is a random listing of images that are for the most part unrelated to water. The song is nevertheless pleasing to hear, as is the recommended Gilberto track. Thank you for posting!

My first thought on that first, banana one, was at the end, "bloody hell, that banana has gone off" when the first bottle was full of purple juice! The Canal+ ad was fun, some nice 'take you for a ride' (literally) as to where it was going. I spotted where the Heinz advert was going and was already wincing way before the denoument! And that last Vodafone advert, short and hilarious! In the past (many, MANY) years ago I saw, just the once, an advert on TV which was just a melange of random audio and bizaree light displays - the tag line (for the product whose name I cannot recall) was, ", more tatse than the advertsing". For music: I'd go for "Limelight" by Rush - not because it's about advertsing, but it IS about being in the public eye, plus it's a dmaned wonderful piece of music!

Some European ads are wild, that's true. Here, at least in some European countries, we have agencies/organisations that examine the ads to determine which ones are suitable to air on TV (even if it doesn't look like it lol). And there's some censorship sometimes, but on things like not promoting hate or having a (somewhat) neutral language (if you advertise a product, you can't claim it does things it doesn't do), they don't focus as much on the "adult" content as they do in the US. Nudity isn't allowed, at least during the day, but innuendos are allowed (and "graphic" stuff always gets blurred / censored, even if the ad airs, like in the Czech one).

6:59 Czech guy here. Yeah, it was on all national TVs And back then (if I remember correctly) we had only couple TV channels, but it was on all. Czech commercials are known to be either rly dark, funny or "not giving single f*ck". And sometimes (like in this case) they are combination of all 3.

I apologise for recommending this but you asked. "The ketchup song" it was massive in Europe.

the ketchup commercial is from Czech republic .. we eastern europeans have a super dark sense of humour ( but don't get fooled, it's many times used to excuse racism and xenophobia ).

International music in another language suggestion - There is a song from the Ali soundtrack ( Salif Kita - Tomorrow) very powerful feeling of loss the first time I heard it even though I didn't know the lyrics.

@No Protocol - It sounded like you said the word "Italiaans" at the commercial with the two guys with band-aided hands. You speak Dutch by any chance?

Companies are on top of the cross cultural thing, due to a series of mistakes. One example was by Chevrolet. They made a successful (in English speaking countries) called the Nova. They couldn't give them away in Spanish speaking countries. Finally, someone at the company found out that in Spanish. "No va" means " It doesn't run."

Idk if someone would watch me eat a banana I'd just stare at them while eating. Bet they get more uncomfortable. Also damn I thought the same with the channel+ and the last one! I like you don't overreact and keep it like you feel, also I really like your voice. Favorite one has to be the Heinz one and the first Vodaphone one those are top notch! Keep it up and greetings from Austria 👋 Music recommendation 🤔Heilung Norupo which helped me a lot to get over the loss of close family, probably the closest thing you can get to ancient European music. The name of the band means healing in german.
